Accept the Gift of God - PART 105

I must be about my Fathers' business. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit into the womb of a young virgin girl named Mary. Mary was a surrogate mother and yet she was a virgin. She herself did not grasp what was revealed by an angel of God to her. That is, she was now with child of the Holy Spirit. In this capacity, she was to bring forth a Son. The child conceived within her was without father, without mother and without decent. The child was to be named Jesus.

His title Immanuel is interpreted as God with us. This child has neither beginning of days or end of life. Mary ponders these things in her heart. When Joseph, her espoused husband had it revealed to Him that this was the Lord’s doing, and that Mary had not been unfaithful to him, Joseph had a change of heart. It may be fair to surmise that when Mary told Joseph about her pregnancy, his initial reaction was that the engagement was over. But Joseph being a just man did not immediately hang out his dirty laundry for all to view. Rather he was going to exit from the promiscuous life that he initially surmised. Joseph was willingly going to depart quietly from her life without making a scene. It is here that the Angel appeared to Joseph saying, "Fear not to take to you and your wife Mary for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit."

Conceived of the Holy Spirit, this child / man calling God His Father. God visiting His creation, veiling Himself in flesh in fashion similar to His creation. Unheard of. How can these things be? The very one who made the world was in the world. To man, it seemed impossible but nothing is impossible for God. Remember God had a plan from the beginning. Humankind is part of God's plan. But we are not the composer!

God was and is pure humanity. After all, God is the cause. He allows good and evil. This is not to suggest God has a desire that you become a recipient of the wages of evil. You and I have a choice. Still, some of us walk into pitfalls. Like Adam and Eve, our fore parents who saw that the fruit looked good and went for it even though God had forewarned them that the day they ate of that tree they would surely die. Well, they figured they knew better than God. As a result here we are. From the day that we took our first breath we received a death sentence.

One man and woman your ancestral parents left us with a bumpy life. Some even appear to inherit a more torturous passage of life than others. So what is our situation? Is it altogether hopeless? Indeed, it is. The tides of life are rolling in and we cannot reverse it, try as we may. Instead, we just go deeper and deeper into sin. This is why God became a man to make a way of escape. He did so simply because God loves you and me. He created us, not as puppets but as individuals with choices. What will our individual response be?

Certainly, we do not need a repeat performance of Adam and Eve. For the choice now is much weightier than the original choice. This time it involves where you and I will spend eternity. Remember this message. God is not willing that you or I should perish to a lost eternity. He visited us and a result of that visit we can now come directly to Him. Our sorry situation reversed when God arrived on the scene with the express purpose to undo our plight.

Adam along with Eve (Adam willingly and Eve duped) sinned and brought death and isolation from fellowship with God. The Spirit of God who indwelt the man Jesus the Christ was going to offer His sinless, yet prone to sin body, by crucifixion at Calvary. Your choice now can reverse the condemnation that sin allotted to us. Jesus - God with us - Child of God’s Holy Spirit took all of our sin onto Himself. Accept the Gift of God. It's free.
