The Mystery That Was Hid From the Beginning, That Is, My Grace Is Sufficient For Thee -- Part 1000

"Hereby perceive we the love [of God] because He laid down His life for us ..." (I John 3:16) Not another but God Himself loved us enough to become our Saviour, shedding His precious blood on the cross so that you and I could receive His gift of salvation.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God ... He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, gave He power to become the sons of God -- to them that believe on His name." (John 1:1-14)

Note here that the scripture states -- "The same was in the beginning with God" in John 1:2. The verse does not say that "He" -- as a second person -- was in the beginning with God. Further, the scriptures state: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) The same Word that was with God and was God -- became flesh. Again, not a second person or entity but the very same God became flesh.

And the angel said to Mary, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee, therefore, also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is -- God with us." (Matthew 1:21-23)

In the beginning, God. (Genesis 1:1) The same God who in Revelation states, "Fear not; I am the first and the last. I am He that liveth and was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen." (Revelation 1:17-18)

"For by Him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him, and He is before all things and by Him all things consist -- and He is the Head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead that in all things, He might have the pre-eminance. For it pleased (the Father] that in Him should all fullness dwell; and having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself by Him ... the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations but now is made manifest to His saints," (Colossians 1:14-29)

"And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (I Timothy 3:16)

As we read further, we begin to understand the need for a new covenant whereby God Himself would appear to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself on a cross. Indeed, "He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second, by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once." (Hebrews 10:9-10)

"For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ -- who through the eternal Spirit -- offered Himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God ... and for this cause, He IS the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance." (Hebrews 9:13-15)

Starting from the beginning of Hebrews 9, so that we have context. Let him who hath ears to hear, hear.

"Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all, which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; which stood only in meats and drinks, and diverse washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

And for this cause He is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, saying, "This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you."

Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." (Hebrews 9:1-26)

Before proceeding, let's read that last verse again -- "For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." (Hebrews 9:26)

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:27)

Jesus -- the ONLY name given under heaven in this dispensation of grace -- the new testament era -- whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) Come to Jesus today. Believe on His name. Stand in the offering plate.

Who Are You Lord? I AM Jesus! - Part 999

The message here today is about JESUS being the embodiment of GOD‘S WORD, and not another’s Word. Indeed, the very same Word that was with God. How do we know this? Because the Word of God cannot be a distinct and separate person from God. For if God were to be separate and distinct from His own Word, then the Word of God would no longer be the Word of God, but rather attributed and ascribed to be words spoken by another distinct and separate person.

In the same context, if JESUS is not the embodiment of God’s Word our faith must be in vain. However, if on the other hand, JESUS is the embodiment of God’s Word as we assert here, then we have much consolation and rejoicing. For never has any man spoken the Words of comfort as this man has spoken. And similarly, never has there been such a man perform the miracles, signs, and wonders which He has performed. This man, without a sword has turned the world upside down. And inside out. And indeed shook the world system causing multitudes to abandon the religious and political mindset of the day. Yes, JESUS ushered in a new world order based upon the application of having faith in God!

So as the scriptures declare ... call His Name Jesus declared the angelic messenger for it is He who shall save His people from their sin! Further, JESUS is Immanuel meaning "God with us." Which explains why the angel accompanied with an army of other angels declared His Name to be JESUS.

Even now, as it was then those who oppose the Word of God declare that God has another name. But this message does not align with the scriptures. In fact, what we know from the scriptures is that Heaven declared JESUS as the only name given whereby anyone can be saved. This is why there is no salvation in any other name other than the name of JESUS. Yes that is correct. JESUS is above every other name in Heaven and earth. And in so doing, God declared that His Glory would not be given to another.

But we read that God has glorified His Son JESUS saying, "Let all the Angels of God worship Him." Again in Hebrews to the Son is declared, “Thy throne O’ God is forever and ever." Let's take this teaching one step further.

JHVH or JHWH are not names per se because as these are written, they are incommunicable. But in an effort to apply something that is of itself incommunicable men have endeavoured to make the incommunicable communicable. In fact, they insert vowels in a vain attempt to render a communicable name from the letters. Some religious institutions render the letters to be Jehovah while others Yahweh. Still, through the years both of the renderings are nothing more than an endeavour to obscure the name given which name is JESUS!

There are other scriptural references that are equally worth reviewing. For example, Pilate wrote JESUS of Nazareth, KING of the JEWS in three languages - Hebrew, Greek and Latin. As we know from the Bible, this did not rest well with the religious system of the day. Their collective desire was to erase the name "JESUS" from history. But Pilate had another idea when he determinedly told the religious opponents that "what I have written I have written."

What was the name written in three languages -- Hebrew, Greek and Latin? The name written was JESUS! Remember, the Word of God is coming to man. The Word of God is not coming out from man!

Paul asked the Lord the question of all questions. "Who are you Lord?" The LORD replied, "I AM JESUS." Now did the Lord mistakenly declare His name? No He did not. There are many descriptive revelatory titles addressing God, but there is only ONE name. This name is JESUS! In this name JESUS shall the Gentiles trust! For in JESUS dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. JESUS is GOD manifesting Himself as a Son.  Peace be. Stand in the offering plate.

Holy, Holy, Holy, The Lord of Hosts, The Whole Earth Full Of His Glory - Part 998

"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called and chosen and faithful." (Revelation 17:14)

Often, when Jesus was preaching, there were those who did not understand His teachings. Sometimes, it was the scribes and Pharisees who wanted to kill Him, or the religious of the day, and other times, it was because the multitudes only wanted the blessings that Jesus could give. We see this latter example when Jesus fed the five thousand. Some returned the second day just for the food to fill their belly. Jesus gave a reason for their blindness. When His disciples asked Jesus why He spoke in parables, He said, "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance, but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables, because they seeing, see not and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand." (Matthew 13:13)

This scripture weighs heavy on my heart because Jesus' words here actually fulfill an earlier prophecy made in Esaias, that carries forward to this day. This prophecy saith: "By hearing, ye shall hear, and shall not understand, and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive, for this people's heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of healing, and their eyes they have closed -- lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." (Matthew 13:14-15; Ezekiel 12:2)

Why is this critical? Because in this current dispensation of grace, we need to believe with all our heart, soul, mind and strength that Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 19:6; 17:14) We need to understand (from the scriptures) that our Lord Jesus Christ "which in His times He shall show -- IS the blessed and ONLY  Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords; who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto - whom no man hath seen, nor can see, to whom honour and power everlasting. Amen." (I Timothy 6:15-16)

In other words, Jesus is Lord. He is our Lord God and Saviour come in the flesh, so that we might receive His gift of salvation. (John 1:1-14; I Timothy 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9)

"Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began ..." (II Timothy 1:9)

Indeed, "He that cometh from above IS above all. He that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth. He that cometh from heaven IS above all, and what He hath seen and heard, that He testifieth -- and no man received his testimony. He that receiveth His testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For He whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God, for God giveth not the Spirit by measure ... The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into His hand." (John 3:31-36)

Jesus said,  "I am from above, ye are of this world. I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins, for if ye believe not that I am, ye shall die in your sins." (John 8:23-24)

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:29) Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by Me." (John 14:6) Jesus said, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever." (John 6:51)

When Jesus shared the parable of the sower, His disciples asked Him, saying, "What might this parable be?" (Luke 8:9) How did Jesus respond?

"Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to others in parables -- that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Now the parable is this --- The Seed is the Word of God. those by the wayside are they that hear, then cometh the devil and taketh away the Word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

They on the rock [are they] which, when they hear, receive the Word with joy, and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word keep [it] and bring forth fruit with patience. No man when he lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth i[it] under a bed, but setteth [it] on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest, neither [any thing] hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

Take heed therefore, how ye hear; for whosoever hath, to him shall be given and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have." (Luke 8:4-18)

And when they told Jesus that mother and His brethren could not see Him because of the crowds, Jesus answered, "My mother and My brethren are these which hear the Word of God and do it." (Luke 8:21)

In other words, whosoever "that believes on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)

We need to believe on Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords -- "Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began."

Why Not Baptize in Jesus' Name? If His Word Tells Us To Be Baptized in Jesus Name - Part 997

This blog is written in response to questions regarding water baptism in Jesus' Name (as preached and practiced throughout the new testament) and in accordance with the apostles' doctrine.

The historical evidence shows that Matthew 28:19 was re-written by the Roman Catholic church around 385 AD. This fact is readily admitted by the Roman Catholic church, and easily confirmed through an online search.  As well, the “original revision” of Matthew 28:19 used “Holy Ghost” when referring to water baptism. Today, the RC church has replaced “Holy Ghost” with “Holy Spirit.” As far as I know, there has been no explanation by the RC church for this subsequent revision.

What I do know is that the religious of that day would have known what Jesus (and the apostles) stated about adding and/or taking away from the Word. Jesus said, “For verily I say unto you -- till heaven and earth pass, one jot* or one tittle* shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:18) [* iota / smallest letter] And again in Luke, Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” (Luke 21:33) There are similar verses in the book of Revelation, etc.

Given that we have been instructed to press into Jesus and not to align ourselves with false teachings, I will leave it to you to pass “righteous judgement” upon religious organizations that “willingly change” Jesus’ words and teachings to reflect another gospel. (John 7:24)
Remember, both Jesus and the apostles warned us of false teachers – and wolves in sheep’s clothing. Indeed, Paul wrote: “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel, which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-9)

Paul not only warned us once about another gospel but restated the very same warning a second time immediately after the other. That is, “If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received” – the apostles doctrine as stated in Acts 2:42 – “let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-9)

But His Word, in which we as believers are to align our gospel teachings, did not stop with letting him be accursed. In fact, Peter wrote: “For the time [is come] that judgement MUST begin at the house of God; and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (I Peter 4:17)

Further, what did Jesus tell the seventy apostles He had just appointed to do when people did not accept His teachings? Jesus told them, “But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, do we wipe off against you; notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come night unto you …” (Luke 10:10-16)

This is why His Word explicitly states that we -- as believers in our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ -- are to “continue steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)  Jesus said, “If ye love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) And in prophecy -- “So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

Who is the Word? John wrote: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God … He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not … but as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God [even] to them that believe on His name …. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1-18)

Yes, Jesus is the Word of God clothed in sin-prone flesh. The same Lord God who breathed into Adam in the beginning willingly took our place so that we could be saved by His grace. His mercy. His love. The Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. (Revelation 1:8, 11, 17-18; 21:6-7; 22:13-21) The SAME Lord God became our Saviour. (I Timothy 2:3-5 ) His name is Jesus.

The same Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ that stood and cried, saying, “If any man thirst let him come unto Me and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, ‘out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.’ (But this spake He of the Spirit which they that believe on Him should receive; for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given] because that Jesus was not yet glorified). (John 7:37-39)

(See also -- Deuteronomy  18:15-22; John 1:45-51; Isaiah 43:25; Isaiah 44:3-6; John 13:31; John 17:5)

If you struggle with what this means, it’s okay because in the beginning so did His disciples. For example, in John 12:16 we read, “These things understood not His disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of Him, and they had done these things unto Him.” (John 12:16)
But at the end of the day, the apostles knew who they served when they preached the gospel, and so should we.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:21-23; Luke 1:31; Luke 2:21; John 1:29)

This is the truth that was hid from the beginning, and the reason why we seek Jesus in everything we do in word or deed (including water baptism). “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him” (Colossians 3:17)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Jesus said, “All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18) In fact, I recently read somewhere that God says of Himself “I am the Lord” over 160 times in the scriptures.

He Himself who knew no sin but became sin for you and I said, “I am the Lord thy God and beside Me there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:5; Hosea 13:4) In the beginning, God. (Genesis 1:1)

This is why we cannot align our beliefs to one single scripture that was admittedly “changed by the religious culture” of that day – and ignore every other example and scriptural teaching in the scriptures on water baptism.  In fact, we need to understand water baptism based on what His Word states – connecting our doctrinal beliefs to every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God – on every question regarding the scriptures.

Since we already know from the historical record that Matthew 28:19 as stated “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” is false, we can now hold “fast the faithful Word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.” (Titus 1:9)

Beginning with Acts 1:

“The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach until the day in which He was taken up, after that He – through the Holy Ghost – had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen. To whom also He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God; and being assembled together with [them] commanded that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which [saith He] ye have heard of Me. For John truly baptized with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” (Acts 1:5; Matthew 3:11; Joel 2:28) Note: John’s baptism was unto repentance – see Matthew 3:11-12; Luke 3:16; John 7:39; John 20:22; Acts 2:3-4

In Acts 2, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting … and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4) Peter, standing with the eleven apostles continued to preach. What happens? “Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said unto them, “Repent, and be baptized EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:37-38) Note that they who gladly received His Word were baptized, and the same day, there were added about three thousand souls. (Acts 2:41-42)

In Acts 8, Philip is preaching Jesus unto the eunuch. (Acts 8:26-39) The eunuch said, “See, [here is] water. What doth hinder me to be baptized?” And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. (Acts 8:38) “And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip …” (Acts 8:39)

In Acts 9, Ananias and Saul of Tarsus -- “Brother Saul, the Lord [even] Jesus that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest hath sent me, that thou mightiest receive thy sigh and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. … and straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues.” (Acts 9:10-19)

In Acts 10, Peter and certain brethren had entered into Caesarea and met Cornelius.  Peter spoke to Cornelius of John’s baptism, and “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him … to Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the Word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.” (Acts 10:36-46) “Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.” (Acts 10:19-48)

In Acts 16, “And brought them out, and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed [their] stripes, and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.” (Acts 16:30-33)

In Acts 18, “And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.” (Acts 18:2-8)

In Acts 22, we read about Ananias and Saul -- “And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the NAME OF THE LORD.” (Acts 22:7-17)
The following are some other verses related to baptism. Please read and ask the Lord Jesus (who is the Father, Son and now because He has ascended -- the Holy Ghost) to reveal His infinite wisdom and knowledge to you.

“ … The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 3:21)

“Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)

“Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [Him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead.” (Colossians 2:12)

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?” (Romans 6:3-4)

“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mark 16:16)

“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” (Galatians 3:27)

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29-31)

Jesus answered, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5)

Jesus said, “I am come in My Father's name, and ye receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” (John 5:43)

“(Though Jesus Himself baptized not, but His disciples,)” (John 4:2)

And finally, JESUS “He is the Head of the body, the Church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] He might have the pre-eminence.” (Colossians 1:18)

Thomas said to Jesus, “My Lord and my God.” (John 20:28) In John 14, Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father and it sufficeth us.” How did Jesus respond? He said unto him, “Have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.” (John 14:1-31)

There is only one name whereby we can be saved. Be baptized in Jesus’ name today. Give Jesus His rightful pre-eminence in all the things that we do, in both word and deed. And as Peter -- full of the Holy Ghost wrote:

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, according as His divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue – whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption of the world through lust, and beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, and to knowledge temperance patience, and to patience godliness, and to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 1:1-19)

False Prophets and Teachers Who Privily Bring in Damnable Heresies - Part 996

"For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness and denying the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ." (Jude 1:3)

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment, and spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned [them] with an overthrow, making [them] an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed [his] righteous soul from day to day with [their] unlawful deeds;)

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.

But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise government, presumptuous [are they], selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities -- whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord." (II Peter 2:1-11)

The epistle of Jude elaborates on bringing not railing accusations but instead, as we see here, "The Lord rebuke thee." (Jude 1:9)

"Likewise also these [filthy] dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignitaries -- yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation but said, "The Lord rebuke thee." But these speak evil of those things which they know not, but what they know naturally as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves." (Jude 1:8-10)

Note that these speak evil of those things which they know not. These have not searched the scriptures for the truth but instead -- as false prophets and false teachers -- have privily brought in damnable heresies that deny the very Lord that bought them. (II Peter 2:1)

"But the Spirit speaketh expressly -- that in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron -- forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats; which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe, and know the truth. For every creature of God [is] good and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving ... for it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer." (I Timothy 4:1-5)

Peter further scribed: "But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption, and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings, while they feast with you -- having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin, beguiling unstable souls, and heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children' which have forsaken the right way, and are gone ] astray following the way of Balaam [the son of] Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, but was rebuked for his iniquity; the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet." (II Peter 2:12-16)

Can you imagine a donkey forbidding a prophet to speak his madness? "And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, "What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?" And Balaam said unto the ass, "Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee." (Numbers 22:27-29)

Indeed, "these are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever ... for when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh [through much] wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error -- while they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption -- for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is brought in bondage -- for if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning -- for it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known [it] to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them." (II Peter 2:17-21)

Moreover, "woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear; clouds [they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots. Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever." (Jude 1:12-13)

These are the same false prophets and teachers identified in Philippians. "For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping [that they are] enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose God [is their belly] and [whose] glory  [is] in their shame, who mind earthly things." (Philippians 3:19-20)

Paul probably said it best when he wrote to the church in Corinth. That is, "As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia. Wherefore? Because I love you not? God knoweth. But what I do, that will I do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion -- that wherein they glory, they may be found as we. For such false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ and no marvel, satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." (II Corinthians 11:10-15)

Do not be defrauded by the certain men crept in unawares -- the dog that is turned to his own vomit again, and the sow that was washed has returned to her wallowing in the mire. (II Peter 2:22) But there is no need for you to do the same. Instead, seek Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Search the scriptures for the truth is in them. Most of all, don't let anyone preach unto you another gospel than that which was taught in the apostles' doctrine. (Acts 2:38-42) Stand in the offering plate.

The Holy Spirit's Veil of Flesh Was Crucified For You and I - Part 995

The Holy Spirit’s veil of flesh was crucified, then buried, being raised from the grave on the third day by the Holy Spirit's power which power had indwelt the flesh of JESUS. For it was God in Spirit who indwelt JESUS. God having descended from His throne took upon Himself the form of a Son. For in JESUS did dwell all the fullness of Godhead bodily. "For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9)

Yes, ALL the fullness of the Godhead. Not a part for God is not divided. God is one! One God -- the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. In the beginning, God. (Genesis 1:1) Yes, the same God who made the world in the beginning and all the things in it became flesh. (John 1:1-18) All things visible and invisible were His works.

Now this same God enters the world in form as a son. JESUS, prior to His descent was God in spiritual form. JESUS was not another person. Not a deity but rather, JESUS was the invisible Holy Ghost that came forth from the innermost being of God. Not a created being as some would have you believe.

Indeed, God the invisible revealed Himself in spiritual form. Yes, the invisible holy Spirit of God appears in visible form and shows Himself in spiritual form seated upon a throne. This same God whereof we now speak leaves His throne, descends to earth, appears in the form as a man - in the form of a Son. For JESUS was declared to be the Only Begotten Son of God. JESUS was not begat of Adam's race. JESUS came forth from the Seed of God.

"Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (Galatians 3:16)

JESUS was depicted in scripture as lamb spoken of as a lamb slain before the very foundation of the world. God introducing Himself as the sacrificial lamb who lays down His life as a Son, for the redemption and salvation of a people who were not a people.

Yes, God was in Christ reconciling the world inhabitants to Himself. God upon completing His planned sacrificial redemptive plan, ascended into heaven, from whence He had descended from His throne. God condescending in form for man's redemption, which redemption is complete within itself which is why God declared, IT IS FINISHED!

GOD WAS IN CHRIST whilst JESUS was veiled in flesh. However, now the Scriptures reveal that CHRIST IS IN GOD. Recall that JESUS was the SEED of the Holy Ghost. Upon the cross, not one bone of JESUS' body was broken, for JESUS was the embryo of the Seed of the Holy Ghost. Within the Seed of the Holy Ghost, there was no sin.

But the body of JESUS which was a prone to sin body, received in the womb of surrogate mother Mary -- it was that body that received the full punishment for Adam’s disobedience. For JESUS laid down His natural body as payment in full for our redemption.

JESUS now the Christ in God descends in His spiritual flesh and bone body, filled with the Spirit of life, not blood. JESUS appears to many in different ways, and at various times, revealing and teaching to His disciples all things in Scripture that pertained to His death, burial, and resurrection and the Kingdom of God!

JESUS then went in and out amongst them for a period of 40 days and 40 nights until He was taken up from their midst. From henceforth, JESUS directed them by His Holy Spirit. Peace to all who are in JESUS! For to know Him aright, is eternal life!

After Ye Heard the Word of truth, Ye Were Sealed With That Holy Spirit of Promise - Part 994

"In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the Word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise." (Ephesians 1:13)

The glorification of JESUS is the outpouring of the Holy Ghost upon us -- even though it is important to recognize that the Holy Ghost was as yet not given. Why is this? Because JESUS was as yet not glorified. Indeed, prior to His ascension, JESUS tells His followers to tarry at Jerusalem until they become endued with power.

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

Herein, the Holy Ghost refers to the breath of JESUS and the power that JESUS spoke of resulting in the outpouring of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost. It is here that the first 3,000 believers repented and were water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is also where these same believers received the gift of the Holy Ghost. The first two chapters of Acts records the fulfillment and should be a must read for all Jesus believers.

But the greatest love story ever told actually began in Genesis. In the beginning, God breathed upon Adam, and as a result, man became a living soul. Fast forward to the new testament wherein we see God in Christ and how He Himself that knew no sin became sin for us. He provided obtainable redemption for all mankind at Calvary. It was there that God laid down His own life to negate the curse of sin. (Genesis 1:1)

Yes, God Himself allowed His sinless body to become cursed to secure redemption for you and I. Why did He do this? Because God is not willing that any one should perish. Indeed, God desires that all people are saved and that in the sacrifice of God’s body, men and women can now return to the very same conditional situation intended for Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

This is why we - every one of us - are offered redemption. It is also at this juncture that you must decide whether to grasp hold of redemption or not. In other words, you are now one at the crossroads. The Armageddon of life. The choice is whether you wish to continue as you are in sin or return to the Lord who dearly loves you and desires to save you. The same God who loves you even more than His own life!

Most of all, do not judge yourself unworthy of redemption. Rather, receive God's plan of salvation for your life. His plan is that you advance your faith journey from where you are now to things that are eternal -- moving into a new birth experience. In this new place, you will learn that JESUS taught that we must be born again of water and of the Spirit in order to see the Kingdom of God. JESUS in the scriptures states that if we are not born again of water and of the Spirit, we cannot enter into the Kingdom of God!

This is why seeking Jesus with all our heart, soul, mind and strength is critical to sustained faith. But it is equally important that what we believe aligns with His teachings. "In the beginning, God." (Genesis 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God ... and the Word became flesh." (John 1:1-18)

In other words, JESUS is the Word of God manifest in flesh. It is His Word that brings all things to fruition. The Holy Ghost through the mouths of JESUS' chosen apostles declared the message of JESUS to the audience of 3,000 in Acts 2. And toward the conclusion of this message, the audience became troubled in spirit, crying out to the men and brethren. "What must we do to be saved?"

What did Peter standing with the apostles tell them? "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:37-38)

This is the promise of God. A promise not only to those in the early Church but an enduring promise to their children too, and all those that are afar off. The promise extending to all of us down through the ages who make a decision to gladly receive His holy Spirit message of redemptive salvation!

This is why JESUS is NOW glorified and we of His holy Spirit do all receive. It is why our soul is redeemed and why now God in Christ breathes upon His flock. The Holy Ghost -- our Comforter who leads us into all knowledge and wisdom -- enabling us to worship JESUS the Christ in God. Yes, worship JESUS the Christ in God and not in the deadness of a form. Rather, worship in newness of spirit!

And no, we are not talking about religion or a religious culture, or for that matter any other institutional that man creates. Rather, we are encouraging readers to come directly to God our Saviour and confess their sins and receive His many promises. Call upon JESUS today so that you will know too that Jesus the Christ, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last never fails. Stand in the offering plate!

Jesus Chose Twelve Whom Also He Named Apostles - Part 993

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:38)

Interestingly, this scripture follows the oft quoted verse that states: "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." I say interestingly because in today's society it appears easier to judge believers in Jesus for their personal flaws than to be thankful that these same believers have begun -- and subsequently, are moving forward in their faith journey. Instead, we rationalize away our own behaviour while making the attitudes and characteristics of others inexcusable. This is why I believe that we have taken this passage and used it against others when we should have been using Jesus' message to examine our own personal mindset. Living a double standard, for instance, in that we believe as sinners forgiven by grace that suddenly we are competent to heal others of their blindness, even though there is only one healer -- our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ.

Note that we are not talking about doctrine here (where scripture does permit discerning and speaking out against false teachers -- indeed, Jesus often criticized the Pharisaic righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees) but rather, how we view those around us. The saying "There goes I except for Jesus" comes to mind.  To clarify further -- in alignment with His Word, please allow me to share several scriptures on this subject, putting the initial message about judging into perspective.

Beginning with Luke 6, we read that Jesus and His disciples were plucking the ears of corn in the corn field and eating, rubbing them in their hands on the second sabbath after the first. While doing so, certain of the Pharisees asked, "Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?"

Jesus answered them, saying, "Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him -- how he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shew bread, and gave also to them that were with him -- which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?"
From this response, one might suggest that Jesus (in referring to David and his men being hungry) was making an exception to the Law but that was not so. Instead, Jesus simply said, "That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath." (Luke 6:5)
We then learn of a second example in Luke 6, which also took place on another sabbath. Herein, Jesus had entered into the synagogue to teach. There was a man in the synagogue whose right hand was withered.  As in the first example, the scribes and Pharisees watched Jesus, to see whether He would heal the man on the sabbath day. Note that the Pharisees did this "so that they might find an accusation against Him" -- instead of being thankful that the man had been restored.
However, Jesus already knew the thoughts of the scribes and Pharisees, and said to the man which had the withered hand, "Rise up, and stand forth in the midst." (Luke 6:8) And the man arose and stood forth. Then said Jesus unto the scribes and Pharisees who watched Him, "I will ask you one thing. Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? To save life, or to destroy it?" (Luke 6:9)

Looking round about upon them all, Jesus said unto the man, "Stretch forth thy hand." And the man did so, and his hand was restored whole as the other. But were the scribes and Pharisees happy to see the man's hand restored? Of course not. Rather, in judging Jesus and seeking an accusation against Him, they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
Still, Jesus did not let the unjust scribes and Pharisees (and might I add judgmental with ulterior motives) change His ultimate love and mercy for the people. "I will ask you one thing. Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? To save life, or to destroy it?" (Luke 6:9)

In Romans, the point is made in this fashion: "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? To his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up, for God is able to make him stand." (Romans 14:4)

Now we are beginning to see the perspective changing from you and I being judges of others -as were the scribes and Pharisees - to the righteous judgement of our Lord God and Saviour.

Reading on, Jesus continued in the mission that He Himself who knew no sin had predestined before the world began. We read that Jesus went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called unto Him His disciples and of them, He chose twelve, whom also He named apostles. (Luke 6:11-16)
(As an aside, note that Jesus had more disciples than the original twelve when He chose the twelve.)
Nevertheless, Jesus came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of His disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear Him, and to be healed of their diseases; and they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. As a consequence, the whole multitude sought to touch Him: for there went virtue out of Him, and healed [them] all.

Note what happens next. "And as He did, He lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said [to them], "Blessed [be ye] poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed [are ye] that hunger now for ye shall be filled. Blessed [are ye] that weep now for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy for, behold, your reward [is] great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets." (Luke 6:20-23)
We recognize these instructions as the Beatitudes but unlike the usual presentation in churches, these were given specifically to His disciples. Jesus healed everyone that came to Him -- because the Word states that virtue went out of Him -- but in the verses following, He spoke specifically to His disciples. In so doing, Jesus wanted them to understand that they were chosen as His own. That when persecution came against them, His disciples should rejoice and leap for joy because their reward is great in heaven. (Luke 6:20-23)

In fact, James later wrote, "Count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations, knowing that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have [her] perfect and entire, wanting nothing." (James 1:2-3)

Another point worth noting is that unlike the Beatitudes (that are regularly quoted as a message unto itself), Jesus did not stop there. His teachings continued, and it is in the midst of this same teaching that we find the scripture -- "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged." (Luke 6:37) It is for this reason that neither the Beatitudes, or for that matter -- verse 37 on judging -- can be separated from the entire message Jesus preached in Luke 6. Why? Because Jesus taught this message as one teaching, and as believers in Jesus we need to seek the same understanding that was delivered specifically to His disciples on that day.
Therefore, moving forward, Jesus then contradicted what was just spoken. Jesus said, "But woe unto you that are rich for ye have received your consolation. Woe unto you that are full for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now for ye shall mourn and weep. Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you for so did their fathers to the false prophets." (Luke 6:24-25)
Was Jesus' focus here still directed toward the apostles, or maybe the disciples who were not numbered in the twelve, or the scribes and Pharisees, or to those that had come only for healing? Good question. I ask because Luke 6:24-26 presents a completely opposite position to that which Jesus had previously said specifically to His disciples. Let's keep reading.
Jesus then said, "But I say unto you which hear -- [presumably, being His believing disciples] -- love your enemies. Do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the [one] cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to [take thy] coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask [them] not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." (Luke 6:27-31)

Or, as Matthew scribed, "Therefore , all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12)
Then Jesus elaborates further for those still willing to hear.

"For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? For sinners also love those that love them.  And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? For sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend [to them] of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again." (Luke 6:32-34)
But instead states Jesus, "Love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful." (Luke 6:27-36)
It is at this point that Jesus says the oft misquoted scripture: "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged." (Luke 6:37; Matthew 7:1) And note in the same verse, "condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:37-38)

There is a message of blessing here -- "Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Wow! Jesus is saying that if we forgive, it shall be given unto you in good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over to the point whereby men shall give into our bosom. So therefore, with the same measure that we mete withal it shall be measured to us.

Jesus' teachings are further confirmed in Matthew:

"Judge not that ye be not judged ... for with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged, and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." (Matthew 7:1-2)

In other words, forgive and ye shall be forgiven. Give and it shall be given unto you. Not just in small measure but in good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over -- shall men give into your bosom.  Think about this. Our Lord God and Saviour wants to bless us but we are blinded by our own judgments against others, and we stop short of examining ourselves first.

Jesus said, "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in your brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, "Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye, and behold, a beam that is in thine own eye? Or , how wilt thou say to thy brother, "Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye, and behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye?" (Matthew 7:2-4; Luke 6:38-41)

Three times in a row Jesus said to be aware of how we judge, and that before we judge others, we should first examine ourselves to see if our hearts are right. The lady caught in adultery comes to mind here -- when everyone walked away because they were not without sin. Neither are we for that matter but I digress.

The point is this -- when we don't examine ourselves to ensure that we are not judging others unfairly, we become hypocrites. Jesus called it for what it is, "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (Matthew 7:5)

But then Jesus said something interesting which corresponds again with His message in Luke 6. Jesus said, "Give not that which is holy unto dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again, and rend you." (Matthew 7:6) "Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch?" (Luke 6:39)

Who was Jesus speaking to? The Pharisees who Jesus said to "let them alone [because] they be blind leaders of the blind, and if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." (Matthew 15:14)
But we are to remember that as disciples of Jesus Christ -- which is you and I -- we are not above our master but rather as Jesus said -- every one that is perfect shall be as His master. (Luke 6:40)
So as Jesus asked, "why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, "Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

We need to do as Jesus instructed when He said, "Cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye. For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:41-45)
In other words, Jesus wants us to follow Him -- to seek His righteousness for our wisdom and knowledge. He already knew about the religious culture of the day, that sadly, has not changed much from then.

Jesus said unto them, "Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to Me, and heareth My sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like -- he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded upon a rock.
But he that heareth, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." (Luke 6:47-49)
Let's be like the man who builds his house upon the rock. Press into Jesus today. Seek His righteousness so that we can be AS our Lord and Saviour -- as our Lord and Master who loved us enough to shed His precious blood on a cross for us. It is Jesus who sees our hearts, even when we ourselves know that we have failed in our earnest desire to walk faithfully with Him.

And the next time someone cites the scripture "judge not that ye be not judged" in accusation against you, let them know that we are not perfect -- just ordinary people saved by the grace and mercy of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ. And that He -- Jesus told us to "forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Praise Jesus! Stand in the offering plate.
