And To Whom Shall He Make To Understand Doctrine? - Part 1117

"Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious; and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded." (I Peter 2:6)

But as Hosea wrote, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to Me. Seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." (Hosea 4:6)

"Therefore My people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge, and their honourable men are famished and their multitude dried up with thirst ..." (Isaiah 5:13)

"Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field till there be no place that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth ..." (Isaiah 5:8)

The vision given to Isaiah speaks of the days wherein we live now when the Lord reaches out to His people -- to them which He has called. "Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the Lord hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children and they have rebelled against Me. The ox knoweth his owner and the ass his master's crib, but Israel doth not know, My people doth not consider ... they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone backward." (Isaiah 1:1-4)

"Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. And when they shall say unto you, "Seek unto them that have familiar spirits [mediums], and unto wizards that peep [whisper] and that mutter; should not a people seek unto their God? For the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony; if they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them. And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry; and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward. And they shall look unto the earth, and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish, and [they shall be] driven to darkness." (Isaiah 8:18-22)

During this time, Isaiah is prophesying that the Lord hath removed men faraway and in the midst of the land, a great forsaking. Indeed, the scene witnessed by Isaiah was so desolate and wasted that even Isaiah asked, "Lord how long? (Isaiah 6:11) To him, everything seemed as a hopeless existence. And yet, the Lord God Almighty had a plan of salvation for those who believe in Him, and on His name -- the mystery that was hid in the bosom of the Father from the beginning.

"The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy; they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice, when they divide the spoil. For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood, but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire." (Isaiah 9:2-5)

Why? "For unto us a child is born. Unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there shall be no end upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this ..." (Isaiah 9:6-7)

"Therefore, the Lord Himself shall give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Butter and honey that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good, ..." (Isaiah 7:14-15)

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband being a just [man] and not willing to make her a publick example was minded to put her away privily, but while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins. Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." (Matthew 1:18-23)

Luke elaborates: "And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son, and shalt call His name Jesus. He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David. And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of His kingdom there shall be no end. Then Mary said unto the angel, "How can this be, seeing I know not a man?" And the angel answered and said unto her, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore, also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:31-35)

The prophesied Messiah -- "Philip findeth Nathanael and saith unto him, "We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets did write: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." (John 1:45)

This is whey we look for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ -- who gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:13)

"But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were afar off are made nigh by the blood of Christ -- FOR HE IS OUR PEACE, WHO HATH MADE BOTH ONE AND HATH BROKEN DOWN THE MIDDLE WALL OF PARTITION, HAVING ABOLISHED IN HIS FLESH THE EMNITY -- the law of commandments, in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace, and that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby ...and came and preached peace to you which were afar off and to them that were nigh, for through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father." (Ephesians 2:13-18)

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God -- and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner [stone] in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord, in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Don't be lost today. Seek Jesus -- the promised Messiah, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last, the King of kings and Lord of lords. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Turn to Him today. Let Him teach you of His knowledge, and to understand doctrine.

"For precept must be upon precept, line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; for with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people -- to whom He said, "This is the rest [wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing ... [and again] the Word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line; line upon line; here a little,

Thus saith the Lord God, "Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [stone], a sure foundation. He that believeth shall not make haste." (Isaiah 28:1-17)

Let him who hath ears to hear, hear. Stand in the offering plate.

If Thou Put the Brethren in Remembrance of These Things, Thou Shalt be A Good Minister of Jesus Christ - Part 1116

"If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, where unto thou hast attained." (I Timothy 4:6)

Herein, Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus was encouraging Timothy to "continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them]." (II Timothy 3:10)

Not to vary from the faith that was established in the name of Jesus Christ. Not to believe seducing spirits and doctrines of devils but rather to continue steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:37-42) And to continue daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, eating their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, having all things common, and enjoying favour with all the people so that the Lord would add to the church daily such as should be saved. (Acts 2:44-47)

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (I Peter 1:21)

But what has happened over time, is that man-made religion and its form traditions have replaced the new wine with a mixture of the old covenant. Inextricably intertwining the two -- the old covenant and the new testament -- these modern day religious representatives have chosen to rely on scriptures that tickle people's ears over encouraging each and every one of us from being partakers of the Holy Ghost. As a consequence, many believers in Jesus by faith have become bound by the worldly constructs, and not coming boldly to the throne of grace so that we my obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Much of the difficulty stems from religions that have not accurately understood the Godhead, or the principles of the doctrine of Christ, so that believers would be free to move onto perfection.

"And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh, justified by the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (I Timothy 3:16)

This is why it is critical that when we believe in Jesus by faith, and ask Him to be Lord in our life, that we also follow His commandments. That we understand the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, and of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement. (Hebrews 6:1-2)

Indeed, in spite of church traditions, we need to recognize that speaking as holy men [and women] of God moved by the Holy Ghost has not changed over time -- even if/when modern day churches claim the Holy Ghost was only relevant in the days of the early church. How do we know this? Jesus said, "But the Comforter [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26)

As we learned in the scriptures, the Holy Ghost could not come until Jesus had been taken up. Only then, did Jesus "through" the Holy Ghost command the apostles. (Acts 1:1-4) How many times did Jesus tell us, that He and Father are one?

Jesus told Thomas, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me. If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also; and from henceforth ye know Him and have seen Him." (John 14:6-7)

And then similarly to Philip when he asked, "Lord, show us the Father and it sufficeth us." Jesus said unto him, "Have I been so long time with you and yet, hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father, and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father?" (John 14:8-9)

This was the message apostle Paul was conveying to Timothy.

"If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, where unto thou hast attained." (I Timothy 4:6)

And the foundation?

"And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh, justified by the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (I Timothy 3:16)

But Timothy (and us) were also warned that there would be those who would creep in unawares, attempting to hijack the glorious message of our Lord God and Saviour "and His Christ." Paul wrote: "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some should depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy having their conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and [commanding] to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer." (I Timothy 3:16- I Timothy 4:1-5)

This is why we should take pleasure in reading the scriptures, understanding too that if we know and believe these things to be true, and do everything in word or deed in the precious name of Jesus, we can stand firmly on His promises. (John 13:17; Romans 8:1-39)

And that we too "shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

This is why, on the day of Pentecost, Peter standing with the eleven were asked by the crowds gathered from every nation -- "What shall we do to be saved?" Then Peter said unto them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:37-38)

"Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" (Acts 19:2)

Good question. One that needs to be taken much more seriously by the modern day religious who carelessly promised to take care of our souls without accurately preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. But don't believe me. Study His Word yourself as a workman does. And let "the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." (Romans 15:13) Stand in the offering plate.

God Laid Down His Pure, Holy, Undefiled Life As Full Payment for Adam's Disobedience - Part 1115

Every household is built with some form of human intervention but He that built all things, well, He is God! In the beginning, God. (Genesis 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God ... He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not .. but as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on His name." (John 1:1-18)

Admittedly, as we recognize from reading the Old Testament scriptures, Moses was faithful in his house as a servant. But Christ was not a servant. Rather, Christ is the builder of the house. For it is written that all things that were made by Him and for Him is the reason why all things today exist. Indeed, it was JESUS - God Himself as a Son - who came as a son over His own house.

In this context, JESUS veiled Himself in flesh, becoming man’s only means of salvation. As a consequence, we were redeemed from the wilderness of sin by Christ (humanity) of God. The promised Christ being God Himself as a Son -- as it is written in the scriptures -- JESUS was the child of the Holy Ghost, and in JESUS' veins did flow the blood of His Spirit. The Spirit of God. For it was God Himself as a Son who was manifest in the world to destroy the works of the devil.

Therefore, JESUS is the Head of the church which is His body. For it was through the sacrificial death of JESUS -- the only begotten Son of God -- offering Himself willingly at Calvary that we, Adam’s sin prone offspring can now by the grace of God become recipients of the free gift of redemption. For those who might not know, redemption opens the door for sinful men and/or women to be born again.

Born again, not of corruptible things such as silver or gold but born again through faith in the finished work of God’s redemptive plan, revealed in the life of God in Christ. He - God laid down His pure, holy, undefiled life as full payment for Adam’s disobedience. For here we see that God took upon Himself all of our sin so that we could become the recipients of His righteousness.

This result was accomplished because Christ was willing to imbue unto Himself our sin. In other words, His body became accursed for us. And we the guilty cursed sinful party are now declared of God to be whiter than the driven snow. For indeed it was God who laid down His life once -- once and for all.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation to all who have returned back to God through the door -- which door is the sacrificed death of JESUS the Lord of Glory -- the only Head of the Church!

Thus, one cannot put another capping stone on the Body of the Church. According to the scriptures, we are members of His body and of His flesh. We are God's purchased possession! And even as the Holy Spirit indwelt the man JESUS the Christ, even so now, we are the body of the Christ in which body the Spirit of God is pleased to dwell!

But around the time of 300-400 AD, another church institution arose, asserting that this new church is the true church. However, we now know this not to be true. We also know that the devil was a liar from the beginning of time for the anti-Christ church comes forth from Christ's church. As it is written, "They (anti-Christ) went out from us because they were not of us."

Interesting terminology - they went out from us - used in the scriptures so that it may be made manifest to one and all that "they were not of us." For if they had been of us, they would not have gone out from us.

Therefore, the Head of God’s church is no other than God Himself as a Son. It is written, "My Glory I will not give to another." God has glorified His Son JESUS. Let all the angels of God worship Him. To us is the Word of this salvation sent! Stand in the offering plate.

“The Fear of the Lord Is the Beginning of Wisdom -- Part 1114

"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" (Galatians 4:16)

When put in this context, the statement makes for a thoughtful question. Am I therefore your enemy because I tell you the truth? Certainly, Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ consistently told others to call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord so "that in every thing, ye [can be] enriched by Him in all utterance and knowledge; even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you; so that ye come behind in no gift, waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ -- who shall also confirm you unto the end [that ye may be] blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." (I Corinthians 1:1-8) In fact, Paul was beaten and imprisoned for teaching Jesus to the multitudes, and yet Paul continued to do so even when he was told not to preach in the name of Jesus specifically.

We also note that throughout Paul's writings, he "would not that ye should be ignorant." (I Corinthians 10:1)  "Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles." (Romans 1:13)

This is why Paul so diligently encourages us to seek personal time with Jesus -- through His Word.
Jesus said, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33) This is why Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." (John 14:6)

And for the same reason why Jesus said, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)

Because that is how much our Lord God and Saviour loved us -- indeed, even before the world was formed. The mystery that was hid in the bosom of the Father from the beginning of time. "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared." (John 1:18)

Beginning in the tenth chapter of I Corinthians, let's be edified from apostle Paul's message to the church in Corinth.

"Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?" (I Corinthians 10:1-16)

As an aside, communion in this context is taken to mean fellowship. Continuing on ...

"For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? What say I then? That the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. "Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils."

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He? All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake, for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof:

Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other. For why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved." (I Corinthians 10:17-33)

In other words, be ye followers of me, Paul wrote, even as I also am of Christ. (Romans 11:1) Remain steadfast in the apostles doctrine, including water baptism in the precious name of our Lord Jesus. (Acts 2:37-42) "And sanctify them through Thy truth ... Thy Word is truth." (John 17:17) Stand in the offering plate.

For It Pleased Father That in Him Should All Fullness Dwell- Part 1113

"Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven, which things the angels desire to look into ...Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and hope to the end fro the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ ..." (I Peter 1:11-13)

Peter, an apostles of Jesus Christ to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galata, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia had a message to preach to the elect, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; Grace unto you and peace be multiplied. (I Peter 1:1-2)

"Blessed the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ according as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love -- having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will -- to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace ... wherein He hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself." (Ephesians 1:3-9)

What is this mystery that He hath purposed in Himself? What is the mystery that included the adoption of children -- you and I -- unto Himself?

"That in the dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, [even] in Him -- in whom also we have obtained an inheritance being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will -- that we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted Christ ..." (Ephesians 1:10-12)

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God -- to declare [I say] at this time His righteousness, that He might be just, and the justifier of Him which believeth in Jesus." (Romans 3:23-26)

"For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him  and He is before all things and by Him all things consist. And He is the Head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence. For it pleased [the] Father that in Him should all fullness dwell; and having made peace through the blood of His cross; by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself, by Him [I say,] whether [they be] things in earth or things in heaven, and you that were sometime alienated and enemies in [your] mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled, in the body of His flesh through death  to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight ... if you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel which we have heard and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven." (Colossians 1:20-23)

Even the mystery which hath been hid from the ages and from generation but now is made manifest to His saints! The greatest love story ever told -- when the same God who created us loved us enough to shed His precious holy blood on the cross so that we might be saved. Ask Jesus to be Lord in your life today. Repent of your sins. Be baptized in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:37-42) And receive ye the Holy Ghost.

For We Are His Workmanship Created In Christ Jesus Unto Good Works - Part 1112

“For He hath made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (II Corinthians 5:21)

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him: and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:5-6)

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus -- that in the ages to come, He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-6)

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (I Timothy 3:16)

And now because of the precious blood shed on the cross, we who believe in Jesus by faith and follow His commandments, remaining steadfast in the apostle's doctrine -- are now clothed in His righteousness. Our sins have become His when we give our lives over to Jesus and His righteousness become ours. No greater love.

"In whom we have redemption through His blood, [even] the forgiveness of sin -- who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature." (Colossians 1:14-15)

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember that [ye being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world ... but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ -- for He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us] having abolished in His flesh the emnity [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace ... and that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh -- for through Him we both have access by ONE SPIRIT UNTO THE FATHER." (Ephesians 2:10-18)

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God also confirmed this same message in his epistle to the Colossians:

"For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the Word of the truth of the gospel, which is come unto you, as [it is] in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as [it doth] also in you, since the day ye heard [of it] and knew the grace of God in truth." (Colossians 1:1-6)

"For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it] do not cease to pray for you and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God -- strengthened with all might according to His glorious power unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness, giving thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light -- who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of His dear Son  -- in whom we have redemption through His blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins -- who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature -- for by Him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers -- ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM AND HE IS BEFORE ALL THINGS AND BY HIM ALL THINGS CONSIST" (Colossians 1:9-17)

Yes the same God who created the world was in the world and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not BUT as many as received Him gave He power to become the sons of God -- to them that believe on His name. (John 1:1-18)

Don't be tossed to and fro with the doctrines and traditions of men. Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1) Let him who hath ears to hear, hear. Ye Are Washed, Ye Are Sanctified, Ye Are Justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus -- Part 1111

"But ye have an unction from the Holy One and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ: he is an antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son hath not the Father [but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.]

Let that therefore abide in you which ye have heard from the beginning, if that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son and in the Father, and this is the promise that He hath promised us, [even] eternal life. These [things] have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have of Him abideth in you and ye need not that any man teach you -- but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him ..." (I John 2:20-29)

"... but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus AND by the Spirit of our God." (I Corinthians 6:11)

I have been told that the current modern day translators of the Bible would use the term "ghost" (in reference to Holy Ghost) if there was a physical manifestation within the scriptural passage, and conversely, "s/Spirit" if the original manuscript reference was intended to be spiritual. This has provided justification for the authors of today's modern day newly written Bibles to replace ALL references to the Holy Ghost with H/holy Spirit, regardless of any clear distinction made between the two.

The water baptism of Jesus -- described by four different disciples in the gospels serves as a prime example. Herein, the disciples share their written record with us, so that we as believers in Jesus by faith might grow in His knowledge and truth. But before we begin, I believe it is important to understand that "the anointing which ye have of Him abideth in you and ye need not that any man teach you -- but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him ..." (I John 2:27)

Beginning first with Luke's account -- "For as much as many have taken in hand to set forth a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, even as they delivered them unto us, which, from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the Word, it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first ... that thou mightest know the certainty of those things wherein thou hast been instructed." (Luke 1:1-3)

Remember too that the angel said to Mary (the mother of Jesus) that when the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, "and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:34-35)

"And behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son and shalt call His name JESUS. He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David; and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end." (Luke 1:30-33) This is the same Jesus that was about to be baptized in water.

"Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also being baptized and praying, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him and a voice came from heaven which said, "Thou art My beloved Son; in Thee I am well pleased." And Jesus Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being as was supposed the son of Joseph ..." (Luke 3:21-22)

"And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him ..." (Luke 3:22)

While Luke writes of the Holy Ghost descending in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, Mark writes of the Spirit -- like a dove -- descending on Jesus.

"The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; as it is written in the prophets, "Behold, I send My messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight." John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey.  And preached, saying, "There cometh One mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I indeed have baptized you with water but He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost." (Mark 1:1-11)

And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him, and there came a voice from heaven, saying, "Thou art My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Mark 1:1-11)

"And straightway coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him ..." (Mark 1:10)

Matthew elaborates on Jesus' desire to be baptized in water further, explaining how John the Baptist at first forbade Jesus saying that it is not Jesus who needs to be baptized by John but rather John baptized by Jesus. Note Jesus response. "Suffer [it to be so] now; for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness." (Matthew 3:15) Matthew writes:

"In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, and saying, "Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." For this is He that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness. Prepare ye the way of the Lord. Make His paths straight." (Matthew 3:1-3)

This was the same John that had his raiment of camel's hair and a leathern girdle about his loins, and his meat was locusts and wild honey. All the people came to be baptized of him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. In one breath, he was seen telling the Pharisees and Sadducee's "O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?" while in another proclaiming, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire -- whose fan [is] in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge the floor, and gather His wheat into the garner, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (Matthew 3:7-11)

In other words, Jesus was baptized so that He could officially enter the Melchizedek priesthood, thus becoming our High Priest now and forever. (Hebrews 5:6) "Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually." (Hebrews 7:3) "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus ..." (Hebrews 3:1) But I digress.

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbade Him, saying, "I have need to be baptized of Thee, and comest Thou to me?" And Jesus answering said unto him, "Suffer [it to be so] now; for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he suffered Him. And Jesus, when He was baptized went up straightway out of the water and lo the heavens were opened unto Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him. And lo a voice from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:1-17)

"And Jesus, when He was baptized went up straightway out of the water and lo the heavens were opened unto Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him." (Matthew 3:16)

John also speaks of the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove. Interestingly, and not mentioned in the other gospels, John the Baptist admits that he did not know Him but that He should be made manifest to Israel." (John 1:31)

And John bare record, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him. And I knew Him not, but He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, "Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. Again, the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; and looking upon Jesus as He walked, he saith, "Behold the Lamb of God!" (John 1:29-36) And when the two disciples heard him speak, they followed Jesus.

"Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." (John 1:33)

So having read these various scriptural accounts -- John saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, Matthew saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him, Luke the Holy Ghost descending in a bodily shape like a dove descending upon Him, and Mark the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him -- what should be our takeaway?

First and foremost, we need to understand that after Jesus was taken up, Jesus "through" the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen. (Acts 1:1-4) Not God in three persons co-equal with each other but one God who shall not share His glory with another. (Isaiah 42:8; Isaiah 48:11; Exodus 20:2-4)

"Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but Me: for there is no Saviour beside Me." (Hosea 13:4)
We also need to understand why baptism into the precious name of Jesus is critical. (Acts 2:37-42)

(And, as an aside, that the scripture Matthew 28:19 (whereby baptism is administered in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost) was revised by the Roman Catholic church in the 3rd century AD and therefore does not accurately reflect Jesus' commission to the disciples. For further clarification, note that all water baptisms in the scriptures were conducted in the name of the Lord Jesus).

Moreover, "Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death, that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life .... alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:1-11)

And from Colossians: "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him rooted and built up in Him and stablished in the faith as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving -- for in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:2-9)

The mystery that was hid in the bosom of the Father from the beginning of time. The greatest love story ever told.

"And for this cause, He is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance -- for where a testament [is] there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament [is] of force after men are dead; otherwise, it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. Whereupon neither the first [testament] was dedicated without blood ..." (Hebrews 9:15-18)

Who was our testator? The mediator of the new testament "that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions" willingly shed His blood on the cross? His cross? "Who being the brightness of [His] glory and the express image of His person and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high ..." (Hebrews 1:1-6)

"God, who at sundry times and in diverse manners spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophets ..." (Hebrews 1:1)

"He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, to them that believe on His name." (John 1:10-12)

This is why --"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." (Galatians 4:26)

We become complete in Him which is the Head of all principality and power. (John 1:1-18; I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6) As such, we are to be "buried with Him in baptism wherein also ye are risen with [Him] through the faith of the operation of God who hath raised Him from the dead, and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickeneth together with Him having forgiven you all trespasses, blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." (Colossians 2:12-15)

It is for this reason that "... ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." (I Corinthians 6:11)

"The Holy Ghost this signifying that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest while as the first tabernacle was yet standing ... " (Hebrews 9:8)

In the beginning, God (Genesis 1:1) The same Spirit of God that moved upon the face of the water when the earth was created (Genesis 1:2) The same Lord God who planted a garden eastward in Eden and there He put the man whom He had formed. (Genesis 2:9) The same God that was made flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14) We behold His glory, the glory of the ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER -- full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) The Comforter whom Jesus proclaimed -- the Father will send in My name.

Jesus said, "But the Comforter [which is] the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26)

Jesus said to His disciples again, "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me ... and ye also shall bear witness because ye have been with Me from the beginning." (John 15:26)

Who shall the Comforter -- the Holy Ghost -- the Spirit -- the Spirit of God (as pointed out in the various gospels) testify of? Jesus -- in whom ALL the fullness of the Godhead dwelleth bodily.

This is why Jesus said, "I and My Father are one." (John 10:30) Not separated into two -- the Spirit of Jesus and the Spirit of God -- (or three if we include the Holy Ghost) as trinitarians within the modern day religious culture present but "One Lord, one faith, one baptism." (Ephesians 4:5-6)

"One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:5-6)

And how do we know this? Because when we believe in Jesus by faith, and are baptized into His precious name -- the only name given among men whereby we must be saved -- "ye have an unction from the Holy One and ye know all things.

"Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus." (Hebrews 3:1) Our Lord God who willingly became our Saviour. Let him who hath ears to hear, hear. Stand in the offering plate.

We Are All Made Ministers of the Gospel - Part 1110

How many believers have heard about the "five-fold" ministry? It is one of those questions that preachers regularly ask their congregation when presenting the idea of a hierarchical or established order within the ministry. As these same ministers often acknowledge, this topic is not for the unlearned, or those yet to find Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Still, many of these ministers contend that while the five-fold ministry is for "the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ -- till we come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" there is often a superior emphasis placed on the position of pastor. (Ephesians 4:12-13) The 'overseer' within the church.

As such, there is often less priority placed on the other four positions -- apostles, prophets, evangelists and teachers. This is why it is important for believers to understand that not everything preached from a church pulpit aligns with Jesus' teachings. Indeed, Jesus and the apostles warned us not to be tossed to and fro and carried about with every doctrine, "by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive" but rather to diligently search the scriptures for therein Jesus said, you will find Him.

It is also for this reason that born again believers need to recognize that the five-fold ministry proclaimed within the modern day religious culture does not stop with the number five -- even when Ephesians 4:11 is used as justification for promoting a five-fold ministry.

"And He [Himself] gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors, and teachers." (Ephesians 4:11)

One, two, three, four, and five.

But if we add Paul's summation on this very same point -- "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." -- we begin to see a 10-fold ministry unfolding. (I Corinthians 12:28)

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten. Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors (or overseers which I am led to believe is the authentic meaning of pastors), teachers, miracles, gifts of healings, helps, governments, and diversities of tongues.

In other words, there is much more than simply a five-fold ministry to focus on. In this context, how often do we limit God. How often do we try to fit our Lord God and Saviour into our human understanding? But in searching the scriptures, are we not to seek Jesus -- the giver of wisdom and knowledge in the heavenly? Certainly, Paul in his instructions to the Corinthian church wanted us to go further in our faith journey. He did not stop at a five-fold ministry, and if he didn't, neither should we. So let's examine what the apostle Paul has written -- so that we can be edified by the fullness of the good news gospel of Jesus Christ.

First, Paul would not have us ignorant concerning spiritual gifts. (I Corinthians 12) "Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed, and no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." (I Corinthians 12:2-3) Like Jesus commanded the apostles THROUGH the Holy Ghost, we as believers also hear the voice of our Lord through the Holy Ghost. (Acts 1:1-4)

Second, there are diversities of gifts but the SAME Spirit. (I Corinthians 12:4) And there are differences of administrations, but the SAME Lord, and there are diversities of operations, but it is the SAME God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal." (I Corinthians 12:4-7) Let's read that again. Not only the same Spirit "but the manifestation of the Spirit is given to EVERY man to profit withal." (I Corinthians 12:7) One and all believers equally -- as ministers of the good news gospel of Jesus the Christ.

Third, Paul defines the gifts of the Spirit so that there is no misunderstanding within the believing community. For example, Paul writes:

"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [diverse] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues; but all these worketh one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will." (I Corinthians 12:8-11) And how does He do this -- dividing to EVERY man severally as He will. You and I as we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Fourth, we are encouraged -- by the mercies of God to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God -- our reasonable service "and be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:1-2) Why? So that we -- through grace -- can think as soberly as apostle Paul, as God hath dealt accordingly to every man the measure of faith. "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given us." (Romans 12:6)

"For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office, so we [being] many are one body in Christ and every one members one of another -- having then gifts differing according to the grace that is give to us, whether prophecy [let us prophecy] according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, [let us wait on our] ministering; or he that teacheth, on teaching; or he that exhorteth, on exhortation; he that giveth, [let him do it] with simplicity; he that ruleth with diligence; he that showeth mercy with cheerfulness ..." (Romans 12:3-8)

Fifth, the whole body with Christ as the Head is fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:16-) Yes, the body of Christ is one, and hath many members and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body -- so also Christ. "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free, and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member but many." (I Corinthians 12:12-14)

Paul expands upon this example further. "If the foot shall say, "Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, "Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body as it hath pleased Him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body." (I Corinthians 12:15-20)

More importantly, there is no place for the eye to say unto the hand "I have no need of thee", nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble are  more necessary -- and those members of the body (which we think to be less honourable) upon these we bestow more abundant honour, and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely [parts] have no need, but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that [part] which lacked .. that there should be no schism in the body but [that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it ... now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular." (I Corinthians 12:21-27)

"There is one body and one Spirit even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ." (Ephesians 4:4-6)

Sixth, "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men ... for as much as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart, and such trust have we through Christ to God-ward; not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God -- who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament -- not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life." (II Corinthians 3:2-6)

Finally, after all this is explained, Paul asks the question. "Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?" (I Corinthians 12:29-30)

Of course not, but rather, as Paul encourages -- "covet earnestly the best gifts, and yet show I unto you a more excellent way ... " (I Corinthians 12:31-14:1-40)

There is a lot more to learn about our role within the body of Christ but this will at least serve as a starting point to understanding that as believers in Jesus Christ our Lord, we don't need to limit His mercy and goodness for each and every one of us. There is no need to stand in jeopardy every hour. Awake to righteousness and sin not. Seek Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Stay true to His Word.

And in so doing, "therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner [stone]; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord ... in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:19-22)

Yes, we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)

"Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Ephesians 4:24) Stand in the offering plate.

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism - Part 1109

Ask yourself these questions pertaining to water baptism. Please note that these scriptural references are freely given so that you may benefit to the fullest from God's glorious redemption message.

Working towards perfection -- "not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you." (Philippians 3:12-15)

To recap, most of the so-called churches in today's world preach and practice in some form or another Matthew 28:19. Indeed, modern day religion and church-anity hinge their doctrinal statements to this one scripture. Hardly ever do any of these same institutional preachers/teachers/pastors/priests admit that Matthew 28:19 was revised by the Roman Catholic church leaders in the third century AD. Why? Because if they did, believers would wonder what other teachings might not align with His Word.

Certainly, the current practice of water baptism according to Matthew 28:19 (which does not align scripturally with Jesus teachings) is a sad consequence of believers trusting others to read and interpret the scriptures and not diligently searching the scriptures for themselves. Nevertheless, the most important point to note here is that there is no scriptural reference in the new testament scriptures for baptizing new believers "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" (or "Holy Ghost). None. Zero.

Also note that when it comes to water baptism, some churches sprinkle water on the recipient, others splash water, others submerse individuals totally in water while still others cover you with a plastic covering pouring water onto the plastic. This latter practice is supposed to represent the children of Israel passing through the river, whereby no one got wet.

Regardless, we need to know the truth as Jesus set forth truth. Jesus commanding the apostles through the Holy Ghost, as per Acts 1:2-3. So, let's read what the Bible does state.

The first point that needs to be made is that the Matthew 28:19 reference was not in the original scriptures. Even the present day pope acknowledges this point. In fact, the scriptures were altered by the church fathers in Rome. We have elaborated on this point before. Instead of reiterating the same information again, we suggest reviewing earlier posts for the historical details, references and timelines.

It might also be pertinent here to think of the saying that actions speak louder than words. In the scriptures, there is no actual water baptism where any believer in the early Christian assemblies were baptized using such a format. If baptism was to be rendered using the titles "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" then the apostles would have included this reference when they baptized new believers. The scriptures would also have made reference to the titles as well, beyond the "revised/added" Matthew 28:19.

Certainly for the record, we recognize that Father is not a name. Son is not a name. Spirit is not a name. But do not fret because there are no scriptural references to support baptism in the titles, or actual examples of believers baptized in the titles in the Bible.

What we do need to concern ourselves with is the deception that is leading people on a pathway opposite to what God originally commanded. It is this mindset that takes one back to the situation in the Garden of Eden, when satan boldly spoke contradictory words opposing what God had instructed Adam to do. Such is the case today where a lie continues rather than accurate scriptural references taking precedent.

Remember, believers were instructed to search the scriptures and know that "I am God." It is the Spirit of this one God that leads and guides us into all truth and brings all things to our remembrance ... whatsoever the Lord Himself spoke whilst walking in our midst, as a Son! (John 1:1-18; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:21-23; I Timothy 3:16)

Moreover, there is only one name given unto men whereby they can be saved. That name is JESUS. There is no salvation in ANY OTHER NAME. In the book of Acts, we find records of the actions of those who walked with Jesus and those words being confirmed by God’s own Spirit. All of the baptisms recorded in the scriptures are administered in the name of Jesus. In the name of the Lord Jesus. Check these references for yourself.

While we are on this topic, we should also mention that there are some who suggest that being baptized is immaterial. In other words, one only has to accept Jesus crucifixion. They say they love God even up to the crucifixion. But in contrast to the scriptures, they then go on to state that there is no way that they are going to be buried into the symbolical watery grave. To say this suggests that they are willing to lay aside the Word. They would rather teach as doctrine the commands of men, or historical traditions based on a textual revision that had no basis.

"And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: for he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ." (Acts 18:24-28)

Still, it is your decision on the best way to deal with these revelations. From our perspective, the Holy Ghost made it clear what to do ... in Acts 2 verses 37 thru 44. We suggest obeying the scriptures as presented and therefore, being baptized into JESUS death. We are confident that when one is baptized in Jesus' name, God will resurrect YOU! Be blessed as you move forward this day.

Now Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself Gives Everlasting Consolation and Good Hope Through Grace - Part 1108

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition -- who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

"Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: whereunto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by Word, or our epistle. Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, (even our Father), which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. (II Thessalonians 2)

Stand firm. Seek Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind and strength -- through His Word. And as Peter instructed on the day of Pentecost -- repent and be baptized in the precious name of Jesus for the remission of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:37-42) Why? Because Jesus is the ONLY name whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

If Ye Continue In My Word, Then Are Ye My Disciples - Part 1107

Stephen was a table servant. He was one of seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom.

"And in those days when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of disciples [unto them] and said, "It is not reason that we should leave the Word of God and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business ... but we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word." (Acts 6:1-4)

This saying "pleased the whole multitude" and they chose Stephen, "a man full of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch -- whom they set before the apostles, and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them and the Word of God increased, and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. And Stephen, full of faith and power did great wonders and miracles among the people." (Acts 6:5-8)

But as we know, the wonders and miracles were not enough to satisfy the people because at the end of the day, Stephen was stoned to death. The question is this. What happened in the interim? Here was a table servant, a disciple of Jesus Christ who was chosen to perform the duties of a table servant. He was not front and center like the apostles. He was not one of the men who were put in prison when the angel of the Lord opened the doors -- only to be found standing in the temple teaching the people. (Acts 5:17-25)

Still, Stephen caught the attention of certain of the synagogue. "Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called [the synagogue] of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen." (Acts 6:9)

But (and this is critical to understanding what was happening) -- theey were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spake. Read that again.

"And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spake." (Acts 6:10)

Why not? Because Stephen was full of the Holy Ghost. The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom Jesus said "the Father will send in My name." (John 14:26) "He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26)

And He will bring all things to your remembrance, said Jesus, "if ye continue in My Word. Then ye are My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)

Jesus told the disciples, just prior to being taken up -- "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

We see this evidenced when the day of Pentecost was fully come. The disciples were all in one place when "suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:1-4)

This experience brought a multitude together who were confounded, "because that every man heard them speak in his own language, and they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, "Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" (Acts 2:5-13)

In fact, some who were in attendance mocked saying, "These men are full of new wine." (Acts 2:13) But I digress.

Peter, standing with the eleven chose the opportunity to preach the good news gospel of Jesus the Christ. "A man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves know ... therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified both Lord and Christ." (Acts 2:22-36)

When they heard Peter's message, they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men, brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said unto them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the promise is unto you and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:37-42)

Repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and ye SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost ..." (Titus 3:5)

Eventually, what we read in Acts 7 is that they stoned Stephen calling upon God saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." (Acts 7:59) And devout men carried Stephen [to his burial] and made great lamentation over him." (Acts 8:2)

But note something else happened herein. Lessons that are critical to our understanding for our own faith journey. That is, Stephen (like Peter and the apostles)  knew the Word from the old covenant, and did not hesitate to preach the good news gospel of Jesus Christ to the high priest and those present.

He told them how the God of glory appeared unto Abraham and how his seed should sojourn in a strange land -- when as yet he had no child. Stephen told them about the patriarchs, moved with envy who sold Joseph into Egypt but God was with him and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt. He shared of Moses and how he learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians  "and was mighty in words and in deeds," (Acts 7:20-34)

Remember, this same Moses whom they refused, saying, "Who made thee a ruler and a judge?" the "same did God send [to be] a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. He brought them out, after that He showed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years -- this is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, "A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me, Him shall ye hear." (Acts 7:35-37; Deuteronomy 18:15-19; Matthew 17:5)

But he did not stop there. Stephen continued, saying: "Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed, speaking unto Moses that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen -- which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David, who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob, but Solomon built him an house." (Acts 7:44-50)

Stephen knew the scriptures. He was learned in the historical significance of the old covenant and the Law. he knew that the Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands but that "Heaven is My throne, and earth My footstool." (Acts 7:49-50) But note also, Stephen knew from whence came his salvation.

"Ye stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost as your fathers [did], so [do] ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers -- who have received the Law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept [it]." (Acts 7:51-53)

By now, those listening had heard enough. They were cut to the heart and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But Stephen, being full of the Holy Ghost looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God" (Acts 7:55-58) And as they stoned Stephen, he kneeled down and cried, calling upon God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit ... Lord, lay not this sin to their charge." (Acts 7:59-60)

"Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenise, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the Word to none but unto the Jews only." (Acts 11:19) Preaching the Lord Jesus. (Acts 11:20) Preaching baptism in Jesus name. (Acts 11:13-18) Preaching that when we follow the commandments of Jesus, He shall baptize us with the Holy Ghost. (Acts 11:16) Encouraging one another to seek Jesus through His Word.

But there is one more point that needs mentioned here. Stephen may have been cruelly stoned to death but before he died, he cried out, "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge."

Do you remember who was in attendance when Stephen was stoned? Equally knowledgeable Saul -- who after being blinded on the road to Damascus became the apostle Paul who daily taught and preached Jesus Christ.

We know this because the scriptures state: "And Saul was consenting unto his death." (Acts 8:1)

Why is this relevant? Because Stephen "stood in the gap" for his accuser. He was not vengeful because of his imminent death. Rather, Stephen said, "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge." (Acts 7:59-60)

The same gospel message that Saul/Paul later presented in the Hebrew tongue. "And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him." (Acts 22:20)

Stephen's witness to Paul was paramount to the spreading of the gospel. A lowly table servant and yet he knew more scriptures than most of the "learned" men of the synagogue. Does that resemble our own modern day religions that quote their own sayings, and not the Word of God? Be not deceived by their false teachings but speak thou the things which are sound doctrine, remaining steadfast in the apostle's doctrine and breaking of bread. (Acts 2:42)

Most of all, if you don't know our Lord God and Saviour, seek Jesus today. Repent of your sins. Be baptized in His precious name, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost "whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." (Ephesians 4:30)

Let him who hath ears to hear, hear. Stand in the offering plate with Jesus.

If Any Man Walk In the Day He Stumbles Not --- Because He Sees the Light of the World - Part 1106

In spite of His love for Lazarus and this family, Jesus did not head out right away after learning of his friend's deathly sickness. In fact, it was two days later before Jesus said to His disciples, "Let us go into Judaea again." Note the disciples' reaction. The disciples main concern was not about the health and well being of Jesus' friend Lazarus (or his sisters) but rather that if He went thither again, the Jews would stone Jesus to death. (John 11:8)

Jesus' response here is telling. "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbles not because he sees the Light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbles because there is no Light in him." (John 11:9)

In other words, as Jesus had previously stated, "I must work the works of Him that sent Me while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (John 9:4-5)

Or, in another scriptural example when Jesus said, "Yet a little while is the Light with you. Walk while ye have the Light lest darkness come upon you, for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have Light believe in the Light, that ye may be the children of Light." (John 12:35-36)

Equally relevant to this dialogue is that the Light to which Jesus refers was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah, who wrote: "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Thou hast multiplied the nation [and] not increased the joy; they joy before Thee according to the joy in harvest, and as [men] rejoice when they divide the spoil. For Thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire -- For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this ..." (Isaiah 9:2-7; Matthew 4:13-16; Like 1:76-79)

Often, commentators suggest that since Jesus was still with the apostles on this earth, and referred to the time as a time of light and/or day, it was a time for working. Doing the Lord's work among the harvest. Some also suggest that since the appointed time for Jesus to die had not occurred, that He could not be hurt, and neither His life taken from Him. Isaiah confirms that Jesus is the prophesied Messiah, the King of Kings, the Word become flesh. And to their credit, these commentaries bring forth a good perspective, when referring to the believers within the early church.

But we do not have Jesus walking with us -- in the "earthly human sense" as did the apostles. So what does it mean for us today when Jesus said, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbles not because he sees the Light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbles because there is no Light in him." (John 11:9)

First, remember that Jesus ushered in the new testament. He satisfied the Law through the shedding of His own precious blood on the cross. The veil that previously prevented us from knowing God personally (the old covenant) was torn once and for all from top to bottom, and as a consequence, the greatest love story ever told shared -- so that you and I by faith in Jesus Christ might inherit eternal life.

"And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent ..." (Matthew 27:51) "And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom ..." (Mark 15:38)

"Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith." (Hebrews 10:19–22)

Why? Because when we draw near to Jesus with a true heart in full assurance of faith, responding to His call to believe on Him, being baptized in Jesus name, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, all the while remaining steadfast in the apostles' doctrine, the Light of the world takes up His abode within us. (Acts 2:37-42; Hebrews 10:19-22)

Jesus told us, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

This is why Jesus repeatedly said, "I am the Light of the world. He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of life." (John 8:12)

The Comforter (which Jesus said could not come to us until Jesus had ascended) now lives in our heart. It is He -- Jesus though the Holy Ghost which removes the scales of blindness from our eyes so that we can see Him as He is -- the one and only true God who loved us enough to sacrifice His humanity -- His flesh so that we could enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus. (Acts 1:8; John 1:1-18; Isaiah 9:6; I Timothy 3:16)

He sets us on a new path whereby He consecrates us, washing us clean. And as Jesus instructed, if we walk in the day -- guided by His Word, we too will stumble not because we know and walk daily with the Light of the world. Yes, we see Jesus -- our blessed Prince and Saviour forever -- in everything we do.

"For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord; walk as children of light -- for the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth -- proving what is acceptable unto the Lord." (Ephesians 5:8-9)

And know that this same "God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ -- but we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellence of  the power may be of God, and not of us." (II Corinthians 4:6-7)

Most of all, know that through Jesus by faith -- "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." (Matthew 5:14)

Stand in the offering plate with Jesus.
