For We Were As Sheep Going Astray, But Are Now Returned Unto The Shepherd And Bishop Of Our Souls - Part 2452

Again, God is not the author of confusion. He wants believers to first seek the Lord Jesus and His righteousness so that we have the wisdom and knowledge to discern what is right and honest and truthful, according to His Word.

For example, Jesus said, "For this is My blood of the new testament which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:28) Not just once but He repeats this same statement again in Mark. "This is my blood of the new testament which is shed for many." (Mark 14:24) And again in Luke. "This cup is the new testament in My blood which is shed for you." (Luke 22:20)

Why? Because the salvation message is not just about believing on Jesus. We are to understand that in shedding His precious blood on the cross Jesus was "fulfilling" the law and commandments that existed under the old covenant. Remember, under the old covenant, Moses lifted up a bronze serpent in the wilderness which had been secured to a pole, so that whoever gazed upon it would be healed. Well, today in this dispensation of grace, a more effectual sacrifice has been offered -- once and for all -- so that we could become the sons and daughters of the Most High King.

That is, God Himself became flesh so that "by His stripes we are/were healed." (John 1:1-18; Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24)

But Jesus did not stop with healing in the physical sense. Jesus came to fulfill the former covenant, ripping the veil in two -- from top to bottom (from heaven to earth) so that we could walk in the cool of the day with our Most High God. This is why we proclaim JESUS from the mountaintops -- Jesus -- the same yesterday, today and forever -- so that whosoever should look upon Him could also be delivered from all bondage and captivity of sin. (Hebrews 13:8)

"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8:15)

We have been set free by His grace and mercy. His love.

But we need also to study His Word -- as a workman does, to show ourselves approved. In this context, we are encouraged as newborn babes to desire the sincere milk of His Word -- in order that we might grow in knowledge and wisdom.

Why is this important? Because once we have tasted the goodness and mercy of our Lord Jesus, we can no longer be tossed to and fro with false doctrines from false apostles/prophets and deceitful workers -- who have transformed themselves into the apostles of Christ. (I Corinthians 11:13-15; I Peter 2:2-3)

Instead, we will understand that when we believe on Him, we shall not be confounded. (I Peter 2:4-6) We will not be confounded by false teachings and the religious culture of this day-- when we seek Jesus first with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and His righteousness.

Therefore, believe He is precious. Know that "ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light, which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy." (I Peter 2:6-10)

Proclaim the Apostle and High Priest of our profession Jesus, who tasted death for every man -- the Just for the unjust -- who was to fulfill that which had already been predetermined before the very foundation of the earth. That is He, the Lamb of God, would be delivered into the midst of wicked men and be slain, thereby achieving opportunity for the lost to have redemption.

He Himself taking away the sin of all those who call upon His Name - "JESUS" This is why we thankfully cry out, "Abba, Father."

"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps, who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth. Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously:

Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls." (I Peter 2:21-25)

Be thankful for His goodness and mercy. Seek His Word every day.

Be Still And Know I AM God! - Part 2451

This is amazing grace ... amazing love!

We enter with boldness into the holy place of prayer with our Great High Priest Jesus who is our priest forever after the Order of Melchisedec. Further, Jesus is touched with the feelings of our infirmities. He is moved with compassion toward us. He succours us for He in the days of His flesh was similarly tempted and tried in all points like we are.

Indeed, as we know, Jesus wept!

This is why we gather together, calling upon our God and Saviour, the King of kings and Lord of lords, Emmanuel, being interpreted, God with us -- His Name Jesus, the indwelling light that constantly brightens our lives. We offer sincere thanksgiving and praise with our natural voices to the Lord God who loved us so much. Others quietly render praise in unknown tongues, all worshipping in Spirit and in truth.

In tongues, an audible voice is raised. It is not our natural tongue that speaks but rather it is a spiritual gift tongue. Then there is silence. Another voice is heard this time and the voice is in the natural language, uttering deep and edifying words -- planting the seed (which is the Word of God) into the hearts of men.

Some direct instructions seem to be embedded while yet another may receive a word from the Spirit voice gracefully imparting tears of comfort. Who knows the God, who is in the midst of His people ministers? What we do know is that those who needed comfort receive comfort. We also know that God knows what each and every one of us need.

The scriptures state, "Be still, and know that I AM GOD." This is the message that we need to grasp. Tongues accompanied with the gift of interpretation is an integral part of worship. Tongues and interpretation are prescribed but in the assembling of saints, limited by the holy Ghost to two or three. And, if there is no one present with the gift of interpretation, then tongues are not to be expressed audibly, as outlined in II Corinthians chapters 12-14.

Further, note that the whole assembly may not speak in tongues audibly, as some modern day religious advocate. For the Scriptures clearly state that if ordinary people or unbelievers are present when tongues are audibly displayed, the listening audience might conclude that the believers are all mad.

But as we also know, God is not the Author of confusion. Believers are not demented or raving or fanatical. The apostles recognized that this might be an outcome, which is why the scriptures clearly state how a gathering of believers should function.

Religion -- no, but rather entering into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, our God and Saviour. Indeed, how sweet it is to be loved by the Lord Jesus!

Whereby In Christ Jesus, We Are Sealed Unto The Day Of Redemption - Part 2450

"This, I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you." (Ephesians 4:1-32)

Continuing from the last post, we understand apostle Paul's encouragement to continue faithfully in the Lord, and His specific instructions to put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. That when we repent and are water baptized in the precious, holy Name of the Lord Jesus, we are no longer walking in the vanity of our minds, having our understanding darkened because of our alienation from the life of God, that invariably leads to uncleanness with greediness, and lasciviousness.

Rather, that as believers we testify in the Lord -- in both word and deed, having heard and being taught by Him. Paul goes onto inform that there is only one truth -- the absolute truth in Jesus, and that when we are renewed in the spirit of our mind, and put on the new man we become willing to work with our hands the thing which is good.

" ... but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs." (Ephesians 4:38)

But apostle Paul - wasn't he a tent maker? And what about the scripture that states," ... that if any would not work, neither should he eat." (II Thessalonians 3:10) Know that there will always be a counter argument to working with your hands the things which are good, and the understanding that when we give to him/her that needs, the Lord Jesus does the multiplication. [Or that His multiplication process is not hindered by the boundaries of math in this world.] The example -- when Jesus fed the five thousand men (plus women and children) from the offering of a young lad who gave Jesus his five loaves and two fishes.

As food for thought -- what if the tents that apostle Paul made were used to house the homeless, the widows and orphans?

Let's look at II Thessalonians 3 as well -- but this time in context.

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

Now we command you, brethren, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy but admonish him as a brother.

Now the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." (II Thessalonians 3:1-18)

As we note here, apostle Paul was an ensample to us -- labouring with travail night and day in preaching the good news gospel to one and all. And in so doing, Paul encourages the believing community not to become weary in well-doing (or as we've often said here -- becoming the flow-through for the Lord -- His abundant love flowing through us to others).

Then saith Jesus unto His disciples, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38)

Perhaps, called to be labourers for the good news gospel of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ? Obviously, this subject is not as cut and dry as this might initially indicate. Nevertheless, we should recognize that in Christ Jesus, we are sealed unto the day of redemption, and that He never fails us.

Below is yet another scripture, from the prophet Isaiah, that might offer sone insight for our further edification and learning, knowing that the Lord has not called us to be makers of idols.

Thus saith the Lord, "The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, "Surely God [is] in thee; and there is none else, [there is] no God. Verily, Thou [art] a God that hides thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols." (Isaiah 45:14-16)

But Godliness With Contentment Is Great Gain - Part 2449

"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:1-6)

Sadly, too many believers look to the modern day man-made, institutionalized religious culture as their model for faith and as a consequence, society is suffering from a lack of the Word of God in people's hearts. In many respects, this has led to a famine in the land, as the prophet Amos points out. (Amos 8:11) But it does not have to be this way.

Herein, apostle Paul is encouraging the believing saints in Ephesus (and you and I by extension) to believe in the Lord Jesus by faith and similarly, to walk worthy of the vocation in which we are called -- with all lowliness and meekness, long suffering, forbearing one another in love -- endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Thus, when we understand that the body of Christ church is no longer reliant on bricks and mortar and man-made hierarchies, but rather the Lord's instructions written in each and every one of our hearts, we will also come to understand that as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called into His ultimate freedom.

Therefore, in contrast to man-made religion, Jesus calls us into a personal relationship with Him wherein He calls us to stand fast in the liberty wherewith is Christ.

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1)

It is in this context that He -- the risen Jesus (both Lord and Christ -- Acts 2:36) calls us to enter into His rest, partaking of the living water which only He offers -- wherein we will never thirst again. This is why Jesus tells us to cast all of our burdens upon Him for His yoke is easy.

Indeed, Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

In fact, when we repent and are water baptized in the precious, holy Name of the Lord Jesus, He clothes us in His righteousness. He cleanses our heart. He makes us complete when His Spirit -- the Holy Ghost -- the Comforter dwells within.

Thus, when we enter into the body of Christ church -- wherein the Lord Jesus is the Head of the church -- the one and only blessed potentate -- we press into the mark which is Christ Jesus. Our life motives change, and over the course of our faith journey, we learn (like the seven chosen to take care of the orphans and widows) to become a servant, disciple, and friend of the Lord Jesus, shining His love to others. He gives us hope and peace in the times of struggle, His abundance of love strengthening us to do all things -- both word and deed -- in His precious, holy Name -- the Name of the Lord Jesus.

Our relationship with Jesus -- King of kings and Lord of lords -- does not end there for His promises continue. As Paul writes:

"But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore He saith, "When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.)

And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: hat we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the Head, even Christ: from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:9-16)

Yes, each believer has a purpose in the Lord, a purpose that He placed in our hearts whilst we were still in our mother's womb. Let's not forget that our reason for living is nestled in Christ Jesus the Lord, and that He is our all in all. And He never leaves us nor forsakes us.

The Way Of Salvation Has Not Changed; Repent And Be Water Baptized In The Precious, Holy Name Of The Lord Jesus!- Part 2448

"And the key of the house of David will I lay upon His shoulder; so He shall open, and none shall shut; and He shall shut, and none shall open." (Isaiah 22:22)

The life of Jesus the Christ is recorded in the gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Therein, we learn about the miracles, the signs and wonders, and healings that He performed. We see how Jesus healed the brokenhearted and welcomed the children unto Himself. In so doing, Jesus showed us love both Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and from His love how to love one another.

Just as we know Jesus as the Great I AM -- the way, the truth, and the life; the bread of life; the living water wherein when we drink, we never thirst again -- we also understand that when God came to earth as our Saviour, shedding His precious, holy blood so that we might have life, He also rose from the dead, ascending into heaven, paying the ultimate price for our salvation -- in full.

Sadly, even then (and like now) people do not understand why God became our Saviour, giving us His salvation name whereby we must be saved -- the Name of JESUS. (Acts 4:12)

"For His name shall be called JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins ... Emmanuel, being interpreted, God with us." (Matthew 1:21-23)

The Name above every other name. (Philippians 2:9)

Then, Jesus asks His disciples, "Who do men say that I am?" There were a number of responses, varying from John the baptizer, Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the other prophets. Then Jesus asks a more revealing question. That is, to His disciples, "Who do you say I AM?" As we could expect, Peter quickly responds saying, "Thou art The Christ, the Son of the living God."

Because of his response, Peter was promised that God would build His body of Christ church and that He would give him the keys to the kingdom. For clarity, Jesus did not say that Peter was to build a church for his own glory or benefit. Neither did Jesus make Peter the first pope, as some in the modern day religious culture would have us wrongly believe.

Rather, what happened here is that Peter was given authority by the Lord God to open the door of salvation to both the Gentiles and the Jews. (Matthew 16:13-19) We see this on the day of Pentecost, when Peter (standing with the eleven) revealed to the first 3,000 souls saved the message of repentance, water baptism in the Name of Jesus, the receiving of the gift of the Holy Ghost -- so that we are on the inside, and no longer on the outside looking in.

This understanding, in and of itself is instructive. For clarity, note that Peter received the keys when he received the gift of the Holy Ghost in Acts 2:1-4. Then Peter having the keys to the kingdom used them for the first time on the day of Pentecost when he unlocked and opened wide the door of salvation. But again, Peter did no do so on his own merit  but rather, in agreement with the eleven. Or, as the scriptures state, in one accord.

And as we know, what transpired on the day of Pentecost continued throughout the book of Acts. The same good news gospel message which was proclaimed on the day of Pentecost continued -- salvation, water baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ, and receipt of the gift of the Holy Ghost -- the Comforter -- the Spirit of Jesus desiring to dwell within our hearts.

In Acts 8, the Samaritans had been water baptized in the Name of Lord Jesus but had not [yet] received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Peter and John were then sent to lay hands on those baptized and to pray for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost --  only those who were water baptized received the gift of the Holy Ghost!

"Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John, who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (for as yet He was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost." (Acts 8:14-17)

And the door of salvation was unlocked and now wide open for the Samaritans. Peter then was sent and preached the Gospel unto the Gentiles, and while He was preaching the Word of God, the Holy Ghost fell upon them and they began to speak with other tongues. Peter then asked, can any man forbid water that have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?" (Acts 10:47-48) Then Peter commanded that they were to be baptized in the Name of the Lord.

The door now unlocked and wide open for the Gentiles. How did this wonderful message begin. We see in John 3:1-7 -- when Jesus had the conversation with Nicodemus, a Pharisee and ruler of the Jews. Note that Nicodemus recognized that Jesus was more than a man because, as he states, no man can do these miracles that Jesus did, except God be with Him.

So much more to understand herein, but the point of this day, is we do not want be on the outside looking in when the Lord Jesus -- as the Lord of lords and King of kings returns. If you believe, align your understanding of the gospel with Peter and the apostles, as it was delivered on the day of Pentecost. This marked the beginning of the new testament church, when the Lord Jesus could not wait any longer to begin a family that bears His Name in all that they do.

More to come. For now, read John 3 and Acts 2 for your learning and edification.

The Risen Christ -- Jesus, King of kings And Lord of lords - Part 2447

For God so loved the world ...

For God so loved the world that He gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON. This world has had more than its share of lying prophets, soothsayers, witch doctors, teachers, horoscopes and dictators with most appearing to speak without any foundation or evidence. Regardless, all of the above pale in comparison to Jesus who is God Himself as a Son, conceived of God’s holy Spirit -- the Holy Ghost.

The voice of the Spirit declaring that Jesus is -- "My beloved Son in whom I am pleased to dwell." God was in Christ!

"To wit, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself ..." (II Corinthians 5:19)

Jesus declared hat the works, signs, wonders and miracles which He was performing were not the works of the flesh but rather the works of the Spirit of God who was indwelling within His flesh. The Words that proceeded from Jesus' mouth were the very words of God.

Jesus declared that the Words that He spoke were not man's words but were the Words of the Spirit who sent Him.(Jesus was conceived of the holy Ghost.) Therefore, He is the Only begotten. He was not made or created. Rather, He is God Himself manifest in the flesh appearing in fashion as one of Adam’s race.

But Jesus was not of Adam's sinful race, although He had been clothed in the womb of one of Adam’s sinful race daughters called Mary -- the Seed of the holy Spirit being clothed in the womb of Mary. She being a willing, chosen surrogate, the angel declared to Mary that holy being that would be born of her would be called the Son of God.

Jesus was clothed in a sin prone body made from Mary's sin prone body. The flesh of Jesus although tempted and tried in all points, like as we are, never sinned, for God was in Christ!

This body was the Lamb of God who was of God to be sacrificed at Calvary. God provided Himself as a Lamb taking All of our sin onto Himself, redeeming all mankind who accept His once and for all Jesus sacrifice.

Indeed, on the cross He reinstated man to a place of no condemnation. For it is written that there is no condemnation to all them that are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus (God Himself as a Son) laid down His sinless life giving up His Son-ship status and taking our sin upon Himself, transferring His righteousness upon us that we now have become the righteousness of God in Christ. Believers immediately become a new creation in Jesus.

Jesus -- the Only Begotten Son of God. We are now adopted sons of God having much more than mere adoption for we now are indwelt of the Spirit of Jesus. Therefore beloved, we are now the sons of God. We inherit, all things that were formerly made for the only begotten Son of God. Christ life is now in dwelling us.

Christ in you giving you the hope of glory. You are now a habitation of God in the Spirit. You are now the temple in which God is pleased to dwell. Jesus said, "All things that the Father hath are Mine, and all Mine, is now yours."

Therefore, believers are a purchased possession of God. the blood of the holy Spirit of God was spilled for the redemption of the whosoever -- you and I.

Why is this important? The gift of God is eternal life. Salvation is a gift. One cannot work to obtain salvation.

“It is finished.” God Almighty sacrificed Himself only once! The blood of Jesus the Christ the only begotten Son of God cleanses all believers from all sin and transgressions.  Therefore, there is no more sacrifice for sin. Jesus' blood can make the foulest sinner clean, whiter than even the driven snow.

Come to me, and I will give you rest!

The risen Jesus is all you need. He is who your heart desires. You can have peace with the Spirit of God who was in the man Jesus the Christ, reconciling us to Himself. Jesus is the ONLY door. Behold My hands and My feet.

Come to Jesus today -- believing upon Him for your salvation.  Be water baptized in His precious name -- the Name of the Lord Jesus -- and receive His gift of the Holy Ghost, the Comforter who will lead and guide us into all truth.

The Ox Knows His Owner, And the Ass His Master's Crib, But Israel Doth Not Know; My People Doth Not Consider - Part 2446

And He said, "Go, and tell this people -- hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."

Then said I, "Lord, how long?"

And He answered, "Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, and the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land. But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy Seed shall be the substance thereof ..." (Isaiah 6:9-15)

You see, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Nevertheless, the Lord God implemented a plan of salvation, wherein He Himself became our Saviour. After His kindness and love did God appear toward men. He came into the world and the world was made by Him but the world knew Him not.

Still, He continues to speak to those who will give ear unto His words. Those who will hearken their hearts to the King of kings and Lord of lords. His Name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins. Emmanuel, being interpreted, God with us. (Matthew 1:21-23; I Timothy 3:16; John 1:10-11; Titus 3:4-7; Acts 20:28)

But as the Lord also admits, some have rebelled against Him (including Israel who does not know). These have forsaken the Lord. They have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, and indeed have gone away backward. (Isaiah 1:3-4)

As the Lord states, "Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it, but wounds, and bruises, and petrifying sores; they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. Your country is desolate; your cities are burned by fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers ..." (Isaiah 1:5-7)

Or as David the psalmist wrote, "We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are around us." (Psalm 79:5)

But salvation hath appeared to all when God declared peace and good will to one and all. His salvation has come, and His righteousness revealed.

Thus, "now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in His holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us ... to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem." (Ezra 9:8-10)

Like Jesus so clearly stated, He will never leave us nor forsake us. That He -- Jesus is the Bread of life. That He -- Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! That when we drink of His living water, we will never thirst again. Indeed, the risen Jesus -- the King of kings and Lord of lords. The Great I AM!

Our counsel?

"And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah."

Let them with ears to hear, hear. Stand in the offering plate!

But Having Hope, When Your Faith Is Increased, That We Shall Glory In The Lord Jesus - Part 2445

Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I AM meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:25-30)

My Family, Says Jesus, Are Those Who Hear The Word Of The Lord! - Part 2444

And Jesus said, "Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God; but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand." (Luke 8:10)

Herein, Jesus had been passing through every city, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God, and the twelve disciples were with Him. As well, there were certain women, including Mary called Magdalene, Joanne the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna -- which ministered unto Him of their substance. (Luke 8:1-3)

At one point, much people had gathered together, coming to Jesus from every city. Thus, Jesus shared a parable -- about a sower who went out to sow his seed. Some of the seeds fell by the wayside, others were trodden down or the fowls of the air devoured them. Some fell upon a rock and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away because of lack of moisture. Other seeds fell among the thorns, but the thorns also sprung up and choked them.

But others, as Jesus points out, fell on good ground and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. When He had said these things, He cried ... "he that hath ears to hear, let him hear." (Luke 8:4-8)

The disciples asked Jesus about the parable. It is here that Jesus explains, "Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God; but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand." (Luke 8:10)

Jesus did not stop there because He does not want His disciples (those who yearn after Him with all their heart) to be without the knowledge needed to navigate the world around them. So Jesus begins to share that the seed in this parable is the Word of God. Those hearts who initially heard the Word that later fall by the wayside are those who hear the call of Jesus, but when the devil comes along, the Word is taken out of their hearts -- lest they should believe and be saved.

On the rock, are those who received the Word with joy; but because they have no root, they for a time believe. However, when times of temptation come, they fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth and are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, bringing no fruit to perfection.

But (and this is an awesome but!) those on the good ground are they which in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. It is this latter group of believers who trust in the risen Jesus that we are called to become -- having an honest and good heart, so that we can bring forth much fruit with patience.

I'm sure there are numerous interpretations regarding this particular parable which would invariably offer significant insights. However, for me this day, I think of the response of Ananias when Jesus instructed him to go find Saul. As we know, Saul (whose name was eventually changed to Paul) was diligent in persecuting and jailing anyone and everyone who believed in Jesus as both Lord and Christ.

As we also know, the risen Jesus blinded Saul on the way to Damascus -- so much so, that Saul asked Jesus, "Who art Thou, Lord?" (Acts 9:1-8) After three days without sight, and neither food or drink, Saul meets Ananias (a certain disciple at Damascus). We know too (from the scriptures) that Ananias had already heard of Saul of Tarsus -- who had authority form the chief priests to bind all that called on the name of the Lord Jesus. The Lord tells Ananias that Saul/Paul is a chosen vessel unto Jesus -- to bear My Name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel; for I will shew hi how great things he must suffer for My Name's sake." (Acts 9:150-16)

Did Ananias put up a fuss? Not a chance! As we know, Ananias went his way, and entered into the house, putting his hands on him, saying, "Brother Saul, the Lord [even] Jesus that appeared unto thee in the way as thou came, hath sent me, that thou might receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost." And immediately, there fell from his eyes as it had been scales; and he received sight forthwith, and arose and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. (Acts 9:15-19)

You see, Ananias had a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. Ananias also had the flow through understanding, that when he adhered to the words of Jesus, there would be fruit, and fruit that would multiply. But Ananias also displayed patience -- while he ensured Paul had received the meat (the Word of God) so that he would be strengthened.

As always, there is so much more to understand here, but let's first not suffer fools gladly but rather be the ministers of Christ that we were called to be -- strengthened in all things by the meat, water baptized in the precious, holy Name of the Lord Jesus -- receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and being patient in knowing that the Lord Jesus knows the innermost desires of our heart.

Thus, in all things, worship the Lord Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and from His love, love one another.

Cast Thy Burden Upon The Lord, And He Shall Sustain Thee; He Shall Never Suffer The Righteous To Be Moved - Part 2443

"As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me; evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. God shall hear, and afflict them, even He that abides of old. Selah.

Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. He hath put forth His hands against such as be at peace with Him: he hath broken His covenant. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved ..." (Psalm 55:1-23)

Too often, we hear about David in his victories -- when he was triumphant over the enemies that encompassed him. For example, we know of David's confidence when he faced Goliath, the giant that he took down with one pebble from his slingshot. These testimonies are edifying and instructive, and give us an example of how we who believe can also face our enemies.

But David also teaches us (through the Psalms) how to yearn with all our heart, soul, mind and strength for the Lord, how to pray for mercy during times of triumph, and that in meditating on the law of the Lord day and night, we become like a tree planted by the rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in season. Indeed, David writes, that when we walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful but instead walk in the ways of the Lord -- that in so doing, that believer doeth shall prosper.

Note that this does not refer to the modern day prosperity gospel that many self-proclaiming evangelists and prophets present today but rather, a heart understanding that the King of kings and Lord of lords only wants what is best for His people.

When we look at Psalms 55, we see how David works through the struggles he faces in the day to day. Herein, David is teaching us to pray against the oppression of the wicked; those who would cast iniquity and wrath against him. But as we also learn from this particular psalm, it is not just the enemies from afar that David laments about -- but a close friend, a peer, an equal who has betrayed him.

In many ways, the example David is giving here can be likened to Jesus (when He walked this earth) and was betrayed by one of the twelve disciples, by a man named Judas Iscariot.

"For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it, neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him; but it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together and walked unto the house of God in company." (Psalms 55:13-15)

It is no wonder that David's heart (as he describes) is sore painted within him. What is the resolve for David in this situation? And the many others David alludes to within this psalm?

First, David begins by asking the Lord God to hear his prayer, and not to hide from David's supplication -- from the horror that is currently overwhelming him. Then, as David turns it around, we find ourselves reading one of the more popular scriptures today. That is, David's encouragement for us to "cast thy [our] burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved!" (Psalm 55:22)

This is our promise for this day, and forever more.  That when we cast our burdens and cares unto the Lord, He is faithful and just to attend to the matters that are causing grief. How?

By "casting all your care upon Him" ... for He cares for you! (I Peter 5:7; Psalm 37:5)

As an aside, the word Selah is Hebrew. It appears (at least on the surface) that the word has no particular meaning or definition, beyond being the accepted stop at the end of a sentence. Some  believe Selah is related to music, given that most of the psalms where Selah appears has been written to a chief musician.

Most important, is that we who believe can understand that in God is our salvation, that He is the Rock of our strength, and our refuge. "Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. (Psalms 62:7-8)

From Psalms 55:

"Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. And I said, "Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest."

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongue for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: but it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

"As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abides of old. Selah.

Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. He hath put forth His hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee:

He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in Thee." (Psalm 55:1-23)
