Baptism Without Using the Name of Jesus Is An Inaccurate Teaching - Part 984

When the religious culture of this day baptizes people without using the name of Jesus, they are clearly not aligning their teachings with the apostles' doctrine, as presented within the scriptures. Sadly, however, those being baptized miss the power and authority that was destined to be theirs from the beginning because in following through with water baptism, the only name under heaven whereby we must be saved has been deliberately omitted. 

In other words, using the titles -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) without acknowledging the name Jesus -- who IS the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit -- is a false teaching. 

How can I say this? Because when the apostles (who walked with Jesus throughout His ministry) baptized believers in water, we read that every single person was baptized in the name of Jesus. Even when those that were pricked in their hearts asked Peter, standing with the eleven apostles, "What must we do?" Peter said unto them:

"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, "Save yourselves from this untoward generation."

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." (Acts 2:38-42)
The message is clearly stated, and if we read through the book of Acts, we see that in every example of water baptism, the new believer was baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus. This was not just a message for the early church. We also are to continue steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:42)
And if His Word is not sufficient for believing, then read the following partial list of evidence disputing the authenticity off Matthew 28:19 -- "A Collection of Evidence Against the Traditional Wording of Matthew 28:19" written by Clinton D. Willis [CWillis@ipa.net]

Catholic Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger: He makes this confession as to the origin of the chief trinity text of Matthew 28:19. "The basic form of our [Matthew 28:19 trinitarian] profession of faith took shape during the course of the second and third centuries in connection with the ceremony of baptism. So far as its place of origin is concerned, the text [Matthew 28:19]came from the city of Rome." The trinity baptism and text of Matthew 28:19 therefore did not originate from the original Church that started in Jerusalem around AD 33. It was rather, as the evidence proves, a later invention of Roman Catholicism -- completely fabricated. Unfortunately, very few know about these historical facts.   

"The Demonstratio Evangelica" by Eusebius: Eusebius was the Church historian and Bishop of Caesarea. On page 152, Eusebius quotes the early book of Matthew that he had in his library in Caesarea. According to this eyewitness of an unaltered Book of Matthew, it could have been the original book or the first copy of the original book of Matthew. Eusebius informs us of Jesus' actual words to his disciples in the original text of Matthew 28:19: "With one word and voice He said to His disciples: "Go, and make disciples of all nations in My Name, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." That "Name" is Jesus.

On page 61, Professor and Church historian Walker, reviles the true origin and purpose of Matthew 28:19. This text is the first man-made Roman Catholic Creed that was the prototype for the later Apocryphal Apostles' Creed. Matthew 28:19 was invented along with the Apocryphal Apostles' Creed to counter so-called heretics and gnostics that baptized in the name of Jesus Christ! 

Marcion although somewhat mixed up in some of his doctrine still baptized his converts the Biblical way in the name of Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19 is the first non-Biblical Roman Catholic Creed! The spurious Catholic text of Matthew 28:19 was invented to support the newer triune - trinity -doctrine. 

Therefore, Matthew 28:19 is not the "Great Commission of Jesus Christ." Rather, Matthew 28:19 is the great Catholic hoax! Acts 2:38, Luke 24:47, and I Corinthians 6:11 give us the ancient original words and teaching of Jesus. 

Further to this point, is it not also strange that Matthew 28:19 is missing from the old manuscripts of Sinaiticus, Curetonianus and Bobiensis?

The Catholic University of America in Washington, D. C. 1923, New Testament Studies Number 5: "The Lord's Command To Baptize An Historical Critical Investigation." by Bernard Henry Cuneo states, quoting from page 27, "The passages in Acts and the letters of St. Paul. These passages seem to point to the earliest form as baptism in the name of the Lord. ... Is it possible to reconcile these facts with the belief that Christ commanded his disciples to baptize in the trine form? 

Had Christ given such a command, it is urged, the Apostolic Church would have followed him, and we should have some trace of this obedience in the New Testament. No such trace can be found. The only explanation of this silence, according to the anti-traditional view, is this the short christological (Jesus Name) formula was (the) original, and the longer triune formula was a later development."

Thankfully, to you and I, the Word of salvation was sent. Therefore, save yourself from this untoward generation of religious traditions that attempt to circumvent His Word. Instead, be obedient, obeying the message of the Holy Ghost as recorded in Acts chapter 2 verses 37-42. It was here that the first 3000 believers were "gladly baptized" into the Name of the Lord Jesus the Christ.

  1. Just a little side note here....I have been baptized in The Name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit and I lack NOTHING. The Holy Spirit has healed my heart of a lot of damage. Jesus has healed me on different occasions and I see Him work daily in my life.
    You may want to check in with the Holy Spirit before posting such strong statements. Matthew 28:19

  2. teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever i have commanded you, and, lo, i .am with you alway, even unto the end of the world - verse 20 . bearing in mind, that in 11 cor. 5:16 it says that yea though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know Him no more and again bearing in mind that it says that "He through the Holy Ghost, gave commandments to men " also after His resurrection in John 20, v. 22 He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost and then in Acts 2 14 - Peter standing up with the other eleven apostles then preached the first sermon which also commanded all to Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ - were they wrong Jana? No one denies that you have an experience with the Lord and we are all thankful for you Jana, but we must go on and that is what we are endeavouring to do and with love in our hearts we invite you to lay hold of the Word and believe it, not men. We will overcome by the Word and our testimony - thank you Lord Jesus.

    My only point to you is that I do not lack or miss out on any "power and authority that was destined to be theirs". I carry all power and authority that Christ has for His children.
    I am laying hold of the word as The Lord has instructed me to do. I have already overcome.

    Thank you for your comment(s) and honesty too. Finding a starting point to address the points made (without digressing to related scriptures) may be a challenge, but let’s see what happens.     I am not concerned or even questioning how I believe. I was just sharing my experience with God and how He daily walks with me as being baptized in The Name of The Father Son and Holy Spirit.
    How you want to believe is between you and Jesus. I pray for a supernatural encounter from The Lord Almighty that will blow your socks off.
    After all, it's not what you know it's Who you know.....

  6. Dear Jana --- Upon seeing the multitudes, Jesus went up into a mountain and specifically taught His disciples. Therein Jesus said, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33) If His Word is not our foundation for understanding who God is, then it doesn't matter if our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ blows our socks off, because we would not know Him. In fact, how could we if we don't seek Jesus through His Word? "Even Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24) But in order to understand His Word, we have to first read and believe -- as it is/was originally written. As for baptism, if you haven't been baptized in the "NAME" of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, then you haven't been baptized in His name. (Acts 2:38-42) JESUS -- the only name given under heaven whereby we MUST be saved. (Acts 4:12) Blessings in Jesus' name!

  7. Dear Jana -- Praying in JESUS' name -- yes??? Do you remember when we used to sing that song at Touch of Heaven? --"If ye abide in Me, and MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." Jesus said this in John 15:7 because we need to hide His Word in our hearts. Not the fine sounding teachings that the "religious culture" of this day uses to "tickle our ears" but the words Jesus actually said. These include: "And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do ..." (John 14:13) "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." (John 16:24) "If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do [it]." (John 14:14) This is why believers do everything -- both in word or deed (including water baptism) -- in Jesus' name (Colossians 3:17). Read the scriptures for yourself because "these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ ... and that [in] believing ye might have life THROUGH HIS NAME." (John 20:31) On the other hand, if you can show even one example in the scriptures whereby a believer was baptized in the "titles" and not the name of Jesus, I would be more than happy to change my perspective. In the interim, I am praying too -- that you stop resisting what you know to be true and get baptized in the precious name of Jesus. He never fails and His grace is sufficient even on days when we don't "feel" so great! Blessings in Jesus' name!

    There 3 ways to seek Jesus.
    Word. Worship. Prayer. I also believe paying your tithes is also a form of worship but that's another discussion.

    Seeking the Lord means seeking his presence. “Presence” is a common translation of the Hebrew word “face.” To be before His face is to be in His presence.

    Psalm 27:8
    My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.
    “Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.”

    Seek the face of Jesus. Seriously?!?
    How awesome is that. How does your spirit not JUMP when you read this.
    When we are this close to Jesus...face to face, we can feel Him. He is close enough to hear Him speak to us.

    Worship is so important that if we are a Worshiper of God and does His will He will listen to us.
    That's kind of important. We need Him to hear us. Yes?

    I will obey my God. His commandments. His word. ALL of His Word.



    The more we get to know Jesus,

    the more we look like Jesus who is perfect in every way. When we look like Jesus we attract people who need Him. They see something in us that they desire. When his happens we are able to touch people's lives. Turn them to Jesus.

    They recognize that there isn't any judgment, there's no hate. They see love and acceptance. Which resembles Christ.

    Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

    Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.



    I understand where you are coming from and why you believe the way you do however when you state that being baptized as per Matthew 28:19, I am not saved (basically saying I am destined for hell when the word clearly states other ways of salvation as mentioned above) I have an obligation to debate.



    The WHOLE bible is full of truth. We may want to consider the importance of living a righteous life full of things that are pure, just and Holy.....



    Philippians 4:8

    Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.



    Reading The Word is important but knowing the author personally, brings us to another level. It brings His Word to life. It speaks to our spirit. It fills our cup to over flowing.



    The Holy Spirit speaks to me daily...through The Word, worship and prayer, also through dreams and visions. I strive to make time for Him as my goal is to resemble Christ.



    My spirit is so alive for Him.



    I will continue to pray for a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit for you.



    Be ready because He's coming.

  9. Dear Jana -- When I read "God our Saviour" I thought yes -- we are finally getting somewhere! You really do understand that Jesus is God in the flesh and that He Himself (who knew no sin became sin) so that we might be set free. (John 1:1-18) And that "there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) But as I can see from your latest comment, we aren't there yet -- sigh! Let me ask this. If the Roman Catholic church changed Matthew 28:19 from the message that Jesus originally stated, and in every other place, Jesus instructs us to do everything we do in word or deed in His name -- and there are no scriptural examples of baptism according to Matthew 28:19 (and after Jesus ascended, He -- THROUGH the Holy Ghost gave commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen -- Acts 1:2) why would you not want to be baptized in Jesus' name????

  10. Further, when Jesus spoke to the churches in Revelation, what did He say? To the church in Ephesus, Jesus said, "and for My name's sake hast laboured." (Revelation 2:3) To the church in Pergamos, "and thou holdest fast My name, and hast not denied My faith." (Revelation 2:13) To the church in Philadelphia, "for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My Word, and hast not denied My name." (Revelation 3:8) The name??? Jesus! The only name whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) No trinity and no deity, and the religious culture of this day knows it. Align yourself with the Word -- His Word -- and He will lead and guide you into all truth. This is why Jesus said, "Because thou hast kept the Word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation ..." (Revelation 3:10) Stand in His offering plate ...

  11. Question -- who is the Author and Finisher of your faith? Why is Holy Ghost mentioned 90 times in the New Testament, and the Holy Spirit only four, and yet you never mention Holy Ghost -- who as the Comforter could not come until Jesus ascended. (John 16:7) Moreover, why did Thomas upon reaching hither say to Jesus, "My Lord and my God." (John 20:26-27) Why did Jesus say to Philip, when Philip asked, "Shew us the Father and it sufficeth us" -- "Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father, and how sayest thou, "Shew us the Father?" (John 14:8-15) This is why Jesus said, "If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also, and from henceforth, ye know Him, and have seen Him." (John 14:7) One Lord, one faith, one baptism. (Ephesians 4:5)

    I was just sharing my experience with you as being baptized as mentioned in Matthew 28:19. To be honest with you, if I had been baptized in "Jesus Name" years ago I would totally be fine with it but I'm not and my name is still written in The Lambs Book of Life.

    That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Dear Jana -- almost 99 per cent of the religious community today are misled so you are not alone -- but now that you know the truth (Matthew 28:19 was revised by the Roman Catholic church and not the actual words of Jesus our Lord), perhaps this is the right time to be baptized in Jesus' name. "And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?" (Acts 8:36) This faith journey is not always easy but we can be assured of one truth -- that is, Jesus never fails! And He knows your heart! I encourage you and others to press into Jesus and let Him reveal His Word to you. I am only trying to be a messenger for those with ears to hear. Blessings Jana. You are loved beyond measure xoxoxo
