In the beginning, God. The same Spirit of the Lord God who moved upon the face of the waters is the same Spirit that dwells within, when we believe on Jesus and are water baptized in His precious Name. Indeed, from the very beginning of time, and even before the foundation of the world was formed, there was One God. The first commandment, in both the old, and later confirmed by Jesus in the new indicates there is only One God.
"For I [AM] the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour" (Isaiah 43:3)
And this same God is prophesied as giving His right arm for our salvation. Referred to always as the Holy One, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Matthew 22:32-34) He is our Heavenly Father. "Have we not all one Father? hath not one God created us?" (Malachi 2:10) And He devised a plan of redemption so that those of us who turned our hearts and minds to Him would be saved from eternal damnation. And He plans to be the husband of the body of Christ church (bride) when He returns for His beloved chosen.
What is His Name in this current dispensation of grace? His Name is JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins ... Emmanuel, being interpreted, God with us. (Matthew 1:21-23)
This is why Jesus said to His disciples, "I and My Father are One!" (John 10:30)
This is why Jesus said that if we have seen Him, we have seen the Father and know Him. (John 14:6)
Because Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16) Because Jesus is both Lord and Christ. (Acts 2:36) Because He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not. (John 1:10-11)
Still, the same God who made us and willingly became our Saviour is inviting each and every one of us to come unto Him, to worship Him, praising Him for His everlasting goodness and grace in all things. And to know that soon and very soon we are going to see Him for who He is -- Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending -- King of kings and Lord of lords!
And we who believe know from whence comes our hope.
