We choose to live according to the glorious gospel of our blessed God and Saviour Jesus Christ because He willingly gave Himself as a ransom for all. For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. This is why we praise Christ Jesus our Lord -- because He hath enabled us -- once sinners -- through the shedding of His precious blood on the cross -- to become faithful and pure in His sight. In return, we have found the grace of our Lord Jesus to be exceedingly abundant. His grace. His mercy. His peace. His endless love for His people.
Paul the apostle states in the first epistle to Timothy that we should be aware of false teachings from which some have swerved and turned aside in vain jangling. Indeed, he writes "do not heed any other doctrines than those preached in the scriptures. Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions rather than godly edifying which is in faith." (I Timothy 1:4) Rather, Paul writes, keep that which is committed to thy trust -- avoiding profane and vain babblings and oppositions of science falsely so called. (I Timothy 6:20)
Understand from having a personal relationship with Jesus that His love emerges through charity out of a pure heart and of a good conscience and of faith unfeigned.
Remember in Mark 12 when the scribe asked Jesus, "Which is the first commandment of all?" And Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is "Hear O Israel. The Lord our God is one Lord. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment."
The substance of our faith worthy of all acceptation. That is, Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom we like the apostle Paul are chief. "Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long suffering for a pattern to them which should here after believe on Him to life everlasting." (I Timothy 1:16)
Our faith and love which is in Christ Jesus -- the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God. Abiding in this faith with a good conscience, which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck. Avoid the shipwreck. Ask Jesus into your heart today. Stand in the offering plate.
