Those Who Gladly Received His Word Were Baptized In The Precious Holy Name Of The Lord Jesus Christ - Part 2239

Thus saith the Lord, which makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:16, 18-19)

Herein, the Lord is speaking through Isaiah, speaking of the new thing that He is about to do, and asking "shall ye know it?" This is a good question, given the modern day religious culture and political systems whose determination and agenda is to put those who believe in the Lord Jesus by faith back into captivity, enslaving us with Old Testament law, and others.

Moreover, these same systems desire that we who believe forget the apostle's doctrine which the scripture tells us to continue steadfastly in, replacing the scriptural foundation and doctrines with a man-made apostles creed. Indeed, in some churches today, the man-made version is parroted out loud by entire congregations -- even though the contents of the man-made creed are contrary to scripture.

Put another way -- if we were taking a university course and the assigned textbook for the course was a certain text, but we decided to create and replace the original with our own man-made version version, would we even pass the exam? In essence, this is what we are currently doing when we repeat a creed over the Word.

Perhaps, this is why apostle Paul twice said let them be accursed who willingly bring another gospel, which is not the good news gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ -- because these deceive those who should know the truth.

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:8-9)

So what is the apostles' doctrine to which we are to continue steadfast?

Acts 2 -- the beginning of the New Testament church, wherein we learn that the dayspring from on high who hath visited His people is the risen Christ, who now, through the Holy Ghost gave commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen. (Acts 1:2-3; Acts 2:36-41; Luke 1:78)

"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." (Acts 2:42)

Who? First, the twelve, and then the seventy, and then the one hundred and twenty, and then three thousand. In one accord, because the Word that was established and confirmed with mighty signs and wonders included repentance, and water baptism (by immersion) in the precious holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38-41)

Then Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, "Save yourselves from this untoward generation." Then they that gladly received His Word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls." (Acts 2:38-41)

This was the New Testament gospel message that the Lord personally delivered to His people. Thus, don't get sidetracked by the worldly wisdom that is contrary to the Word of God. Instead, as the early church believed, and were persecuted for, remain " ... ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." (I Corinthians 15:58)

Remembering always, that in this current dispensation of grace, the Lord Himself came to do a new thing! Stand in the offering plate.
