Jesus Said, The Words That I Speak To You, They Are Spirit, and They Are Life - Part 2060

"For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh." (Proverbs 4:22)

Note that Jesus had just finished telling His disciples about the end of the world, and the signs in the world that will help those who believe to understand the times in which they live -- so that the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, when He returns for His people, will not come as a surprise. Herein, now Jesus is sharing the parable of the ten virgins.

Jesus is saying, "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, "Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him." Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, "Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out." But the wise answered, saying, "Not so;lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, "Lord, Lord, open to us." But He answered and said, "Verily I say unto you, I know you not."

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." (Matthew 25:1-12)

For the most part, we have moved away from oil lamps, so some explanation may be necessary. A lamp is considered trimmed when the wick is turned either up or down. In so doing, it regulates the amount of flame. However, if a lamp has no oil, it can't be trimmed. Why? Because the lamp goes out when the oil is consumed.

The parable that Jesus shared should serve as a reminder for believers to keep oil in their lamp all the time so that the Light which dwells within them -- the Comforter and Holy Ghost, can lead and guide them into all truth. Jesus told us that He is the Light of the world. Jesus said He is the Bread of Life -- the Living Water whereby the well never runs dry.

Therefore, the scriptural message this day is to ensure the oil in your lamp is full at all times. Be prepared to have His Word instilled inside you. Study His Word to prove yourself approved unto God in all things. Because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. But most of all, He loves you and desires to give to you His Kingdom.

More to come. Stand in the offering plate.
