"But the anointing which YOU HAVE RECEIVED OF HIM ABIDES IN YOU AND YOU NEED NOT THAT ANY MAN TEACH YOU ... but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in Him." (I John 2:27)
Jesus -- the bread of life. The same Jesus that said, "He that comes to Me shall never hunger ... and he that believes on Me shall never thirst." (John 6:35) The same Jesus who told us, "but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall NEVER thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14)
So it should not come as a surprise that when Jesus asked the disciples if they too would go away that Simon Peter answered saying, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life." (John 6:67-68)
Indeed, Jesus does have the words of eternal life. Only He can breathe into us His words of eternal life wherein we will never thirst again. No religious leader or theologian has the power. Nor can a religious leader give us the bread which Jesus gives -- wherein we will never hunger again.
So the question is why do we think the religiouscan? Why do we follow them as if these are idols instead of the real Jesus, who is willing to teach us all things? The same Jesus in whom we can confidently state, "I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me."
Paul wrote, "If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which is given me to you-ward; how that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery (as I wrote afore in few words) whereby, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ -- which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit -- that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the gospel ..."
"... and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ, to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God ... according to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Ephesians 3:1-11)
This is why we seek Jesus and His righteousness with all our heart, soul, mind and strength -- so that He will fill us with His Spirit --- the Comforter who will lead and guide us into all truth. Therefore, drink from the pure river of water of life that is clear as crystal and proceeds out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Why? So that we will never thirst again. So that we will never hunger. And so we will have peace that surpasses all human understanding.
Jesus confirmed this when He said, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." (Matthew 5:6)
Abide in Jesus today. Stand in the offering plate.
