Earnestly Contend for the Faith - Part 891

But thus saith the Lord, "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children." (Isaiah 49:25)

In the new testament, Jesus has given us similar promises to stake our faith upon. For example, Jesus said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." Not ever and He does so in order that we may boldly say, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." (Hebrews 13:5-6)

How can we know this? Because our Lord God and Saviour -- Jesus -- has "not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (II Timothy 1:7)

And if we are still unsure of our salvation, or status in this life, then trust Jesus when He tells us to cast all our cares upon Him. "Cast all your care upon Him and He careth for you." (I Peter 5:7) Why? Because "of His own will -- begat He us with the Word of truth -- that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures." (James 1:18)

Moreover, Jesus promises that when we believe in Him and love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, we not only become but ARE "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; [so] that [we] should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called [us] out of darkness into His marvellous light ..." (I Peter 2:9)

Indeed, the LORD [is] our Shepherd and as such, we shall never want. (Psalm 23:1) Stand in the offering plate.
