Let His Great Love Touch Our Hearts - Part 739

Let our Lord God and Saviour who is rich in mercy touch your heart.

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil ... and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Hebrews 2:14-15 -- King James version)

Written somewhat differently in another translation -- but equally telling -- the same scriptures state:

"Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might break the power of him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil  and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.(Hebrews 2:14-15)

If the message is still unclear, please read the above verse again -- and again if necessary. What does the verse say?

Yes, that "He too" -- our Lord God -- shared in our humanity so that by His death He might deliver those of us who through fear of death were continually in bondage. Indeed, as the scripture states, "in bondage for all of our lives."

But His great love -- the love and mercy of our Lord and Saviour --- "wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus ... that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:4-7)

Indeed, the good news gospel is all about Jesus. The only name given under heaven whereby men and women can be saved. Our Saviour who willingly takes our burdens and nails them to the cross once and for all. The same God who willingly sacrificed His humanity so that we can fellowship with Him.

Let His great love touch your heart today.

"By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:4-8) Stand in the offering plate.
