Jesus Desires Our Friendship - Part 736

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
From a human perspective, we often get caught in the toils of life. What we forget when we let the cares of this world entangle us is that as believers in Jesus, we have become sons and daughters of the Most High King. Indeed, the scriptures point out that we are not just servants of Jesus, but His friends.
"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what His Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." (John 15:15)
Why would our Lord God and Saviour -- the King of the universe -- desire our friendship? The same Lord God who said, " For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it. He created it not in vain. He formed it to be inhabited. I am the LORD and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:18)
Why? Because He loved you and I from the very beginning. In fact, God desired us so much that He willingly made man in His own image "after His likeness" letting them "have dominion over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing and creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis 1:26-2-28) He put us in charge of this world.
But even when we fall short of the glory of God -- and transgress against our Lord, He still willingly desires to have fellowship with us. So that you and I may be the rightful children and friends of our Father which is in heaven.
But our heavenly Father doesn't just love us when we turn to Him. He loves us even before we repent and believe on Him.
Jesus said, "For He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in Heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:45-48)
Yes, our Lord God who later became our Saviour desires that we enter the land flowing with milk and honey, so that we can prosper in Jesus. Trust Jesus today and "know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
