If Any Man Preach Another Gospel, Let Him Be Accursed - Part 735

“As we said before, so I say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:9)

Too often, longstanding religious traditions have taken root in the hearts of men -- even though these same teachings remain contrary to the Biblical teachings of Jesus. Over time, these seemingly inconsequential statements and beliefs become entrenched as foundational doctrines within respective  institutions -- even though one would be hard pressed to substantiate any of these teachings using the scriptures as evidence.

Unfortunately, there are many informed people today who are aware of these stark differences in teachings but are not willing to stand up for truth. Indeed, one might say that these are not interested in "coming out from among them" or letting "the Spirit of truth guide them ...  and show them the things that are to come." (John 16:13)

At the same time, organized churches of various denominations are similarly moving to ecuneumical agreement even though these so-called agreements contravene the Word. Two scriptural references come to mind. The first was written by the apostle Paul in  II Corinthians 6:14-18. The scriptures herein state:

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the the living God, as God hath said, "I will dwell in them and walk in them and I will be their God and they shall be My people. Wherefore, come out from among them and be ye separate," saith the Lord, "and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters" saith the Lord Almighty." (Ii Corinthians 6:14-18)

The second scriptural reference written directly to churches and institutional religion comes from Revelation 3:1-6. Therein, the scriptures state:

"And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; "These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: I know thy works -- that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee ...

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white -- for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels."

He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

In the interim, let's encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ to get to know our Lord God and Saviour better and to equip them with the Word, preparing us all to become disciples and preachers of the good news gospel of Jesus the Christ -- in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwelt.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes -- to the Jews first and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
