"Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them." (Isaiah 42:9)
Indeed, the same Spirit of the Lord God that moved upon the face of the waters in the very beginning foretold of His coming to earth to redeem His chosen people -- when the Lord Himself would come forth as a mighty man. (Isaiah 42:9; Isaiah 9:6) An appointed time when God was manifest in the flesh --- as our Saviour. (I Timothy 3:16) The Word that was with God and was God made flesh, dwelling among us. (John 1:1-18) As John similarly writes, "He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not." (John 1:10-11)
But in order for us to delight ourselves in His peace in this latter time, the old covenant (with all its ordinances) had to go. This is not to suggest that the shedding of blood was of no effect because there had to be the shedding of blood. Indeed, a purchase for our sins paid for through the shedding of His blood, so that we might be set free. This is why God's salvation message is the greatest love story ever told, in that the same Lord God who created mankind in the beginning loved us enough to become the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep -- whilst we were still His enemies.
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." (Hebrews 9:8-12)
The redemption plan made for you and I, before the foundation of the world was formed "... which He hath purchased with His own blood." (Acts 20:28)
Why? Because as the Lord said in Osee, "I will call them My people, which were not My people; and her beloved, which was not beloved." (Romans 9:25) "And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, "Ye are not My people; there shall they be called the children of the living God ..." (Romans 9:26)
In order for the New Testament to be declared, and His free gift of salvation extended to those who turn to Him, the timing had to be perfect. This explains why "the Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
"What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness." (Romans 9:30-31)
Let those with eyes to see, see and ears to hear, hear. Stand in the offering plate.
