And He answered and spake unto those that stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And unto him He said, “Behold, I had caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.” (Zechariah 3:6)
“In that day,” saith the Lord of hosts, “I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.” (Zechariah 3:10)
“And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be My people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know the Lord of hosts hath sent Me unto thee. And the Lord shall inherit Judah, His portion in the holy land and shall choose Jerusalem again.” (Zechariah 2:11-12)
Through prophecy, we who believe in the Lord Jesus by faith are able to understand how the scriptures are inextricably intertwined with current world events. Of course, these prophecies are not intended to enlighten us so that we end up putting off a decision to trust in the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength but rather, so that we can be assured of the times and the seasons in which we live.
To this end, the priority is always to be assured of our personal salvation first and foremost — as the Lord hath said, “Today is the day of salvation!” — and then subsequently, to learn of the Lord’s wisdom and knowledge so that we could fulfill the purpose He placed in our hearts whilst we were still in our mother’s womb.
And now, in this current dispensation of grace, we know that after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, He has made a way to clothe us with change of raiment. A means wherein He — God Himself — could tear the veil that kept us from Him from top to bottom — from heaven to earth — so that we could be cleansed in Him.
His Name? JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins. A people who were not originally HIs people but were invited into the fold when the Holy Ghost (that hath made us overseers to feed the church of God) — “which He hath purchased with His own blood.” (Acts 20:28)
When we understand who God is, and are witnesses of the sufferings of Christ, we also become partakers of the glory that shall be revealed. (I Peter 5:1)
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, wherein He hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure, which He hath purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth — [even] in Him.” (Ephesians 1:7-10)
“To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved …. in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will.” (Ephesians 1:6, 11)
This is why we cease not to give thanks for His goodness and mercy and love for without that sacrifice of His shed blood on the cross, we would never have been able to enter into His presence. Take hold of the good news gospel message this day, that can only be found in Christ Jesus, who willingly endured the cross so that we could become His beloved, His chosen.
Again, who is this He? As Jesus said, “I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life!” (John 14:6) And as Peter standing with the eleven on the day of Pentecost further clarified, “This same Jesus whom ye have crucified is both Lord and Christ!” (Acts 2:36-41)
