A Stone of Stumbling, A Rock of Offence, To Them Which Stumble At The Word - Part 1445

"And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the Word, being disobedient: where unto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy." (I Peter 2:8-10)

"And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem." (Isaiah 8:14)
"But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased Him, and to every seed his own body." (I Corinthians 15:38)

And, so it is written, "The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening Spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven." (I Corinthians 15:45-47)

In other words, JESUS is that eternal life which was in the innermost being of God who is Spirit (invisible) - the same God who was manifest in the flesh and spoken of within the Bible. As it is written, "God was manifest in the flesh." (I Timothy 3:16) The Word made flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:1-18)

JESUS, conceived of the Holy Ghost who of Himself provided both the male and female seed -- whereby both of these seeds (when brought together) would become the visible image of God. (Hebrews 1:1-3) God Himself made flesh. (John 1:14) Pure spiritual humanity contained all the fullness of the Godhead. "For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9)

"He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not." (John 1:10-11)

But the truth of God being in the world and the world having been made by Him and still the world knew Him not is a foreign concept to many believers. These do not understand that "God, who at sundry times in diverse manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days, spoken unto us by [His] Son, whom He hath appointed Heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds, who being the brightness of [His] glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high." (Hebrews 1:1-3)

Who is the Word? JESUS.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:14)

We also know from the apostles' account of their ministry that the stumbling block was always Jesus. Disciples [followers] of Jesus were regularly imprisoned, and beaten, and chased out of towns and synagogues, and killed for their faith as well. Nevertheless, "we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness ..." (I Corinthians 1:23)

Why? Because Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me. If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also, and from henceforth ye know Him and have seen Him. *John 14:6-7)

Nevertheless, the Lord had a better plan for His followers and disciples then, and equally for us who live in the last times now. But in the midst of coming to our Lord and Saviour, He also wants us to know His Name, and to enjoy a personal relationship with God in Christ -- the King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 1:8, 11; Acts 2:36-47)

"But after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward men appeared; not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. That being justified in His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." (Titus 3:4-7)

The life of God was manifested in the flesh so that we might experience salvation. This is why Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Holy Ghost whose SEED was conceived into the womb of a willing surrogate named Mary who herself expressed that her spirit rejoiced in God her Saviour.

Further, there is only ONE GOD and only one MEDIATOR between God and man. That ONE Mediator being none other than the One known as the Son. His Name is JESUS for He shall save His people from their sins. "God with us." (Matthew 1:21-23)

"The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

And for this cause He is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator lives.

Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, saying, "This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you."

Moreover, he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. and almost all things are by the Law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place every year with blood of others ... for then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:8-22)

The greatest love story ever told!

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)
