Rejoice in Jesus Name - Part 608

"I will make thy name [Lord] to be remembered in all generations. Therefore [Lord], shall the people praise thee forever and ever." (Psalms 45:17)

If you are not a regular reader of the Bible, it is important to note that a significant proportion of the scriptures are written for our personal edification in order that we can grow strong in the faith that we have in our Lord God and Saviour Jesus. Indeed, the Bible encourages those of us who believe that Jesus shed His precious blood for our sins and transgressions -- so that we might be saved -- to search the scriptures. Why? Because in the scriptures are the Words of Life.

"Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

A prime justification for reading the scriptures can be found in Psalms. Herein, the scriptures state that "you are fairer than the sons of men. Grace is poured upon your lips. Therefore, God has blessed you forever. Gird your sword upon your thigh, O Mighty One, with your glory and your majesty. And in your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness. Your right hand shall teach you awesome things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies; the people's fall under you. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Therefore God, your God has annointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions. God, your God has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions." (Psalm 45: 2-7)

As believers, we are encouraged to stand therefore in the liberty wherewith Jesus the Christ hath made us free. (Galatians 5:1)

Futher, "be filled with the Spirit, speaking to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 5:18-20)

Certainly, as an exemplary example to all of us, Jesus rejoiced in spirit. He said in Luke 10:21, "I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth so thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father, for it seemed good in thy sight."

He repeats the same message of joy in Matthew 11:25. At that time Jesus said. "I praise you Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to little children." (Matthew 11:25)

This is the reason why we stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. (Philippians 1:27) Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved." (Philippians 4:1) Praise your Almighty King Jesus today. Stand in the offering plate.
