For all -- every one of us -- have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23-26) This is why we ask Jesus to come into our hearts. Indeed, the scriptures state that "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9) Forever forgiven because of the blood Jesus -- our Lord God and Saviour -- shed on the cross at Calvary.
As our faith increases, we want to become more like Him. Not because we have to perform good works for our salvation but rather, because we love Jesus. When the first 3,000 followers asked Peter and the apostles what they should do, Peter said unto them.
"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38-42)
Then will our hearts be comforted "being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ." (Colossians 2:2)
In Jesus, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. (Ephesians 1:7) Besides Jesus, there is no other. No other name under Heaven whereby we can be saved.
Rest in His grace and mercy today. Stand in the offering plate.
