And In His Name Shall The Gentiles Trust; Holy Is His Name -- Part 1902

And Mary said, "... my soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour, for He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden, for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done to me great things and Holy is His Name. And His mercy is on them that fear Him from generation to generation.

He hath showed strength with His arm. He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich He hath sent empty away. He hath helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy ... as He spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever." (Luke 1:46-55; Psalm 138:6; Luke 11:27; Psalm 71:19; Psalm 136:2-3; Psalm 111:9; Psalm 103:17; Psalm 98:1; Psalm 118:15; I Peter 5:5; I Samuel 2:1, 7-8, 10; Isaiah 41:8; Jeremiah 31:3; Isaiah 9:6; Romans 11:28; Genesis 17:7, 19; Habakkuk 3:18; I Timothy 1:1; I Timothy 3:16; I Timothy 2:3; Titus 3:4; Revelation 1:8)

For the record, this is Mary, the mother of Jesus speaking herein, as she rejoices in God her Saviour. "For He that is mighty," she says, "hath done great things and Holy is His Name." (Luke 1:49) Note that the name Mary is speaking of here is singular. There is no plurality or triad god found in Mary's words, when she openly rejoices in God her Saviour. As well, Mary is giving praise and honour to the Name of JESUS, for "Holy is His Name!"

There are numerous scriptures to confirm His Name, the only Name whereby we MUST be saved in this current dispensation of grace. (Acts 4:12) The only Name which is above every other name given to mankind. (Philippians 2:9)

"And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call His Name JESUS." (Luke 1:31) And ye shall call His Name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21-23) "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, His Name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before He was conceived in the womb." (Luke 2:21)

Jesus was the Lord's Christ that had been prophesied from before the foundation of the world. (Luke 2:25-32) In fact, Jesus was and is (to this very day) the redemption message. (Luke 2:36-38) The same spiritual ROCK that followed the Israelites through the parted sea. (I Corinthians 10:1-4) The same Head of the body of Christ church today. The same God who was manifest in the flesh so that we could personally know our Saviour. (I Timothy 3:16)

And, as John the baptizer consistently pointed out when he saw Jesus, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"

Unfortunately, many who profess to believe in Jesus by faith have not understood His Name. Thus, this day, we are going to highlight some New Testament scriptures about the name when we pray without ceasing (as Jesus taught us to do) whispering from our hearts, "Hallowed be Thy Name!"  (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:2)

In so doing, we may also come to understand why Jesus said to His disciples in the mountain, "Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy Name? and in Thy Name have cast out devils? and in Thy Name done many wonderful works?" (Matthew 7:22; Numbers 24:4) For us, Jesus' words here should be quite sobering. Certainly, as we know from our modern day religious culture, there are many who heal the sick and prophesy and do wonderful works in the Name of Jesus and if performance is rated in and of itself, their ministries influential.

But again, what does Jesus -- the Word that was made flesh and dwelt among us -- say? (John 1:1-18) That "many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord ..." (Matthew 7:22) Many will do all these things in the precious holy Name of the Lord Jesus, except be water baptized in Jesus' Name, and this is, in and of itself, the telling point. Does a person who believes want to be buried with Christ into His death, and therefore, when we are buried with Him by baptism unto death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life ..." (Romans 6:3-4)

From the scriptures, there is an abundance of evidence validating that those who gladly received the Word in their hearts, wanted to also have the answer of a clear conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. (I Peter 3:21-22) And this message not just delivered on the day of Pentecost, wherein the first 3,000 souls saved were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:36-41)

But also, "when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women ... (For as yet He [the Holy Ghost] was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus.) " (Acts 8:12-16; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:38)

It is from this starting point of repentance and a clear conscience (born both of the water and of the Spirit as we see Jesus sharing with Nicodemus in John 3) that we who believe, like the multitudes that went before, and follow Jesus, saying,  "Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the Name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest." (Mark 11:19; Matthew 21:9; Matthew 23:39; Luke 13:35; Luke 19:38)

Yes, it is for the Name of Jesus -- who is both Lord and Christ -- that we now gather together in His Name, and He Himself is in the midst, knowing with assurance that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His precious holy Name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Matthew 18:20; Luke 24:47)

Other scriptures to consider?

Jesus said, "And whoso shall receive one such little child in my Name receives Me." (Matthew 18:5)

Jesus said, "Whosoever shall receive one of such children in My Name, receives Me: and whosoever shall receive Me, receivesnot Me, but Him that sent Me." And John answered him, saying, "Master, we saw one casting out devils in Thy Name and he follows not us: and we forbade him, because he followed not us." But Jesus said, "Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in My Name, that can lightly speak evil of Me for he that is not against us is on our part. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My Name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto youth shall not lose his reward ..."  (Mark 9:37-41)

Jesus said, "And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My Name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." (Matthew 19:29)

Jesus said, "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My Name's sake." (Matthew 24:9)

Jesus said, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; and they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." (Mark 16:17-18)

But also note that there will come a day when we, because of the Name of JESUS will be hated, because they hated Him first. And they shall lay their hands on those who believe, and persecute them, "delivering us up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My Name's sake." (Luke 21:12) Jesus said, "And ye shall be hated of all men for My Name's sake." (Luke 21:17)

Still, we are not to fear. Because as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name. (John 1:12; John 2:23) Jesus said, "... he that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the NAME of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18)

And just to be sure that we understand that Jesus came "in My Father's name" consider what Jesus said in John 5:43 "I am come in My Father's Name, and ye receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." (John 5:43) In another place, Jesus answered them, "I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me."(John 10:25)

And again, when Jesus was praying, "Father, glorify Thy Name." Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified [it], and will glorify [it] again." (John 12:28)

Instead of looking for another name, we need to come under submission to the very Name of JESUS that the angel of the Lord delivered to us -- His precious Name that was intended for this very time -- the dispensation of grace wherein we live, so that under His holy Name -- the Name of JESUS, our sins can be forgiven. (Matthew 1:21-23) This is why when we ask any thing in the Name of JESUS, He will do it, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:13; John 3:16; John 14:14; John 16:23-26)

Jesus manifested Thy Name unto the world and said so in John 17:6. "I have manifested Thy Name unto the men which thou gave Me out of the world: Thine they were, and Thou gave them Me; and they have kept Thy Word." (John 17:6)

Continuing, Jesus said, "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep through Thine own Name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as we are ... while I was with them in the world, I kept them in Thy Name; those that Thou gave Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled." (John 17:10-12)

"And I have declared unto them Thy Name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith Thou hast loved Me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:26)

Jesus said, "... ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My Name, He may give it you." (John 15:16)

Yes the sheep do hear His voice, and He calls His own sheep by Name and leads them out. (John 10:3)

His Name is JESUS! The King of kings and Lord of lords, Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending. The One and Only JESUS who will not only save us from our sins, but similarly teach us all things, and bring all things that we need to our remembrance, "whatsoever I have said unto you!" (John 14:26)
