Jesus -- Whom He Hath Appointed Heir of All Things - Part 835

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost -- which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." (Titus 3:5-7)

The body of Christ is made up of many members, but the head -- the chief cornerstone -- is Christ. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

This is not to suggest that all believers in Jesus by faith are one and the same. We are not. Rather, we are renewed in Christ Jesus, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost. This is why we are instructed not to be high in our conceits, because without Jesus we could do nothing.

However, being a member of the body of Christ invites us into privilege. First, we have great joy and consolation in the love of Jesus. Our sins are forgiven. We have life everlasting. And we are not only the sons  and daughters of the Most High King but He invites us to be His friends too. Romans 12 gives us some insights worth noting.

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness.

[Indeed], let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil. Cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another." (Romans 12:4-16)

Most of all remember, that in these last days, spoken unto us by His only begotten Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the words -- who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high .. being made so much better than the angels, as He hath by inheritance obtained, a more excellent name than they." (Hebrews 1:2-4)
