For as much as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the Word; it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first ..." (Luke 1:1-3)
In this context, the Word of God is predictable and sure, because therein the pages of the scriptures, God has given us His Word. His precious Word so that we -- you and I -- can have abundant life in Him. And as we can see from Luke, we can achieve that perfect understanding of all things from the very first, when we seek our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Mark 12:29-31; Deuteronomy 6:4)
This is why we can be assured that in Him -- the Word made flesh -- "was life and the life was the light of men, and the Light shines in darkness: and the darkness comprehended it not." (John 1:4-5; I John 5:11; John 8:12; John 9:5; John 12:46)
Moreover, Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of life." (John 8:12; I Thessalonians 5:5) In another place, Jesus tells the multitudes that He is The Bread of Life, The Living Water, the very sustenance that we need to fulfill His purpose in our life. And that, when we search His promises, desiring the sincere milk of His Word, we will grow thereby. (I Peter 2:2)
You see, God never intended for His beloved people to be appointed us to wrath, but rather, to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him ..." (I Thessalonians 5:9-10; Romans 9:22; II Thessalonians 2:13; II Corinthians 5:15)
This is why we give thanks always to God, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you and I to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth ... whereunto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ." (II Thessalonians 2:13-14; Ephesians 1:4; I Thessalonians 1:4; I Peter 1:2; I Peter 5:10)
In other words, stand firm on the promises of our Lord God. Because "now hath He obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises." (Hebrews 6:8)
