"But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that He may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." (I Corinthians 2:14-16)
Herein, apostle Paul is sharing a number of points regarding wisdom. For example, Paul answers the question -- from whence comes wisdom? Second, that true wisdom does not come with excellency of speech or enticing words of man's wisdom but from declaring unto others the testimony of God, and in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. Therefore, as Paul concludes, our faith does not stand in the wisdom of men, but rather, in the power of God. (I Corinthians 2:1-5)
Paul uses examples to support his conclusion.
In one place, Paul reemphasizes that the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." (I Corinthians 1:18) This same point is further emphasized ... "For after that in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." (I Corinthians 1:21)
For the Jews require a sign and the Greeks seek after wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block and unto the Greeks foolishness but unto them which are called -- both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
This is why ye should see our calling -- how that many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called -- but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are; that no flesh should glory in His presence.
Thus, of Him who believe in the Lord Jesus by faith, and are water baptized in His precious, holy Name, are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. Why? So that, according as it is written, he that glorieth, let him/her glory in the Lord. (I Corinthians 1:21)
It is for this reason that we are not ashamed of the good news gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith." (Romans 1:16-17; Mark 8:38; Romans 2:9; Hebrews 2:4; Romans 3:21; Galatians 3:11)
In Jesus!
This same Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man ... for it became Him, for whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings ... for both He that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of one; for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren. (Hebrews 2:9-11)
Thus, put your trust in the Lord Jesus this day. Declare His Name unto the brethren, and in the midst of the church, sing praises unto Thee.
Stand in the offering plate.
