“Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in
the field; and afterwards build thine house …” (Proverbs 24:27)
“Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and
stand not in the place of great [men]. For better [it is] that it be said unto
thee, “Come up hither; than that thou should be put lower in the presence of
the prince whom thine eyes have seen …” (Proverbs 25:6-7)
And when one of them that sat at meat with Him heard these
things, he said unto Jesus, “Blessed [is] he that shall eat bread in the
kingdom of God.” (Luke 14:15; Revelation 19:19)
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of life!”
It is this bread – the nourishment that only comes from our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ – that can
fill us with a heart desire to pray Jesus’ model prayer – “Give us this day our
daily bread!” It is only this bread – Jesus – that can satisfy our souls so
that we can labour into His rest. For Jesus is our sustenance and life. Jesus
is the King of kings and Lord of lords, Alpha and Omega, the first and the
last, the beginning and the ending. (Revelation 19:16; Revelation 1:8, 11)
He is the only One who can satisfy the longings of our
heart, because it is He Himself who placed His purpose in our heart whilst we
were still in our mother’s womb. And it is because of His love for you and I –
His beloved – that we can be thankful knowing that He was clothed with a
vesture dipped in blood – His Name the Word of God. (Revelation 19:13; Isaiah
63:2-3; John 1:1-4, 10-11, 14)
Therefore, “let us be glad and rejoice and give honour to
Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself
ready, and to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean
and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And He saith unto
me [John], “Write – blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage
supper of the Lamb.” And He saith unto me, “These are the true sayings of God.”
And I fell at His feet to worship Him. And He said unto me, “See [thou do it]
not; I am thy fellow servant and of thy brethren that have the testimony of
Jesus; worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy.”
(Revelation 19:7-10)
We understand more of the wedding feast in Jesus parable,
wherein He likens the Kingdom of heaven unto a certain K/king, which made a
marriage for H/his son. (Matthew 22:2) And similarly, the parable of the ten
virgins who were ready and prepared for when the Bridegroom came, and went in
with Him to the marriage. (Matthew 25:10)
There is so much more here to learn but let this suffice for
this day with more on this message continuing in the posts to follow. For now, meditate on the Word of the Lord. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you so
that you too can participate in the most elaborate wedding feast of all time.
And shout for joy, singing praises unto the Lord ... for the Lord hath chosen and ordained those who believe in Him, and are baptized in His Name to become His chosen people, a royal
generation because in our very being we desire to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind,
and strength for His habitation. (Psalm 132:13)
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path.
(Psalm 119:105) Eat from the bread of life this day. Stand in the offering plate.
