May the God of Hope Fill You With All Joy and Peace in Believing, That Ye May Abound in Hope Through the Power of the Holy Ghost - Part 1345

"Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." (Romans 15:13)

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith, we were never intended to chore away in the drudgery of this world. Rather, Jesus invites us to enter into His rest, standing fast in the liberty wherewith is Christ. To that end, Jesus spent over three years enlightening His disciples in the day to day. But even Jesus (at times) sighed deeply at how little His disciples had learned within that space of time.

I am thinking specifically of the time that Jesus warned His disciples about the Sadduccees and Pharisees, and similarly, to beware of the leaven. The disciples mistakenly took this to mean that Jesus was mad at them for forgetting the bread, even though these same disciples had already witnessed Jesus feeding the five thousand from five loaves and two fishes. In that situation, there was even baskets of food left over. But I digress.

In warning His disciples, Jesus was referring to the slippery slope principle -- meaning that if a compromise is made for one teaching (or doctrine), it won't be long before the original teachings of Jesus are no longer recognizable. We see this within the modern day religious culture. The saddest part of it all is that the Word that Jesus personally delivered is being compromised and diluted as well. And in this case, Jesus was telling His disciples to beware of the leaven.

A little leaven can spoil the whole lump. (Galatians 5:9)

But we are privileged, in that we in this current dispensation of grace can freely access His Word. And having received the Holy Ghost (after repenting and being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus) we no longer have need of a teacher, if we study His Word for our edification and learning.

Therefore, "stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage ... for we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love." (Galatians 5:1-6)

Trust in our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ today. Stand fast in the offering plate.
