Obviously, this hatred is not new to the world because Jesus clearly stated that the lovers of this world will hate us because these hated Him first. (Matthew 10:22; Matthew 24:9; Mark 13:13; Luke 21:17; John 15:18, 24; John 15:25; Jon 17:14)
And as we also know from the trial against Jesus, "his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, "We will not have this [man] to reign over us." (Luke 19:14)
In Psalm 83, David brings his initial prayer regarding those who hate the Lord to a rightful conclusion. David writes, "O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. As the fire burns a wood, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire; so persecute them with Thy tempest, and make them afraid with Thy storm. Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek Thy Name, O Lord. Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: that men may know that Thou, whose name alone is JHVH [the unpronounceable name of God] art the Most High over all the earth." (Psalm 83:12-14)
For clarity, the JHVH of the old is JESUS in the new. The only name whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) The name above every name -- including the more than 100 names God used throughout the old testament. (Philippians 2:9)
And ye shall call His Name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins ... Emmanuel, being interpreted, God with us! (Matthew 1:21-23)
As a suffering servant, Jesus made the ultimate purchase for you and I. That is, He shed His precious, holy blood on a cross so that you and I might have abundant everlasting life in Him. He has called us into His purposes -- the Good Shepherd who willingly gave His life for His sheep.
But Jesus does not call us to pursue a lie outside of Him but rather to experience abundant life in Him. This is why Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As apostle Paul states, we have a purpose, a calling that allows us to fight the good fight, running the race, and most of all, keeping the faith. When we experience Jesus, He fills the cup of life to overflowing -- His joy and peace running over from within.
Therefore, we who believe should "give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth." (II Peter 2:10-12)
Yes, in Jesus, we can partake in a more abundant life. Stand in the offering plate.
