As Jesus shares in His parable -- if the blind lead the blind, they might both find themselves in a ditch. Obviously, this is hardly the situation one wants to be in. This is why, sometimes, relying on an analogy or an example to explain God's good news gospel message can be helpful.
For example, the sons and daughters of the Lord our God ought to stop considering that unsaved, unredeemed persons know what salvation is. How could they? You were there once. Blind to understanding God's plan of salvation. But now, by accepting the gift of salvation that Jesus provided on the cross, you have been made a partaker of the power of the life to come. So, in this context, fruits of your salvation will shine through as you get closer. And in so doing, you will understand the flow through experience when His love flows through you.
It is in this context that the table has been set, and our responsibility to send out the invitations to the 'whosoever will'. Going into the hedges to find those who are lost, and as apostle Paul wrote -- pulling them from the fire.
Why? Because God willingly became our Saviour writing His love in crimson red -- shedding His own precious blood on a cross. (Acts 20:28; I Timothy 3:16) Now that is love. Recall the parable of the sewer who went out to sow seed in the harvest field? Not all the seeds took root. Some of the seeds fell here and some seeds fell in all the wrong places. The seeds that fell in the latter places withered and died. There is a message here. That is, keep your hand upon the throttle and your eyes upon the rail. A boat without a rudder is going wherever the tide or wind directs it. For us, though, the Lord is our Shepherd. He guides us and directs, even when the wind or tide rocks us to or fro, we can rest assured that Jesus has us in His arms.
So why is it then that some people will resort back to the old ways? Sort of like Lot's wife in the Old Testament. When they were fleeing, she looked back. The Hebrews exiting Egypt are yet another example - they sort of turned back in their hearts. They marched on and on around and around the same mountain and didn't know it. Unbelievable. But these prods of the scriptures are not written to deter you. Rather, they are written so we do not fall asleep, reverting back to following the masses rather than listening to the voice of God's Spirit that whispers, “Follow Me.”
Thus, in our faith journey, we need to be wise -- wiser than the deceiving serpent known as the enemy. We need to be resourceful and compassionate and to some extent, harmless as a dove. In so doing, saith the scriptures, all men will know that you are His disciples -- by your love for the Lord Jesus, and for one another. And in this, often it is your faith that is on trial. Your faith that the enemies want to steal. Some will even say that if you stop believing in God and stop talking about your faith, that they will be your friend again. Why it will be just like old times, others will suggest.
But that is precisely the reason I called on the Lord to deliver me. The good old days were not very good. If the truth be told, most of the time the old times were boring. And now my so-called friends are being so nice, hoping to entice me back. My question is this. Back to what?
The scriptures warn believers (with tears night and day) that even of our own selves shall men arise speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after themselves. They don't want you to talk about Jesus -- both Lord and Christ -- and how He rescued us from a world of sin. The good news is that He loves us regardless of what people say. Remember too, these same people can't take away our joy!
For Jesus said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee!"
So the message for today - keep preaching the Word of God both in season and out of season. Or as the lyrics of that old hymn state:
We love to tell the story
It will be our theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
Of JESUS and His Love.
Peace. Stand in the offering plate.

No Man Can Say That Jesus Is The Lord But By The Holy Ghost - Part 2408
"Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these work that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many." (I Corinthians 12:1-14)
There are a couple of points worth noting -- that specifically differentiate between the scriptures and what the modern day religious culture promotes. First, tongues are given as a sign -- not to believers but rather, to those who do not believe. How do we know? Because as the Word and our own born again experience confirms (the s/Spirit and the Word agree!), believers have already experienced the grace and goodness of God.
Further, as we learn from the day of Pentecost, the gift of tongues was given to believers so that the non-believers from every nation, the observers of the gathering in Acts 2, understood tongues as an expression of an occurring audible and visible manifestation. Some might say that the tongues were of a peculiar happening. Did the Lord not say through the prophets (particularly Joel) hat one of the signs that would occur in a believer's new birth experience is that believers would speak with a new tongue? Of course, because when the Lord does a new thing (as prophesied afore) He provides a confirmation also -- that believers have been adopted into the family of God.
"For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see My glory." (Isaiah 66:18)
Jesus said, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues ..." (Mark 16:16-17)

"And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:3-4)
To some extent, this heavenly language, recognized as tongues may be surprising to Adam’s offspring but they are quite the norm to members of the family of God Indeed, through the manifestation of tongues, God endeavours to prompt the attention of unbelievers. Yet in spite of all that they hear and see, God too often declares their unbelieving eyes and ears are still closed.
"In the law it is written, "With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear Me," saith the Lord." (I Corinthians 14:21)
There are in this world a vast diversity of different languages. That is how earthly humans communicate. But God has a language too. How else would He have been able to counsel with Himself in the beginning? Indeed, it is recorded that in the beginning was the Word. Wisdom! God framed the world with His own Word. God said, "let there be" and be there was.
In the upper room, where the 120 believers gathered together as instructed by Jesus, all of a sudden a sound appeared, like that of a mighty rushing wind. This sound filling all the room where the people were gathered. In some ways, if one needs an analogy, the sound might be compared to today's surround sound. Here, in this room, suddenly there appeared unto them tongues like as a uncontrollable fire (purifying) and it "sat." How else could one describe this experience that tongues "sat" upon each one of them?
"And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judæa, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God." And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, "What meaneth this?" (Acts 2:8-12)
Just like God's plan of salvation, the gift of tongues was personally delivered to each believer. And as detailed in the scriptures, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. Speaking as this same Spirit gave them utterance -- but in a new language. A holy Spirit language. To those of you who ask why a new language? The response is simple. The people were being reborn. The people were receiving a sound mind. The people were now born of God, not by the will of the flesh nor by the will of man but born of God. Born by the blood of the Holy Ghost, when God (in the form of a Son) shed His precious, holy blood on a cross so that we might have life. (Acts 20:28; John 1:10-11; I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6)
Each person in the midst was purchased, redeemed and justified ... now the children of the second Adam, who is the Lord Himself, a brand new spiritual people indwelt by the Spirit of their Father have been born into the Kingdom of God. Our heavenly Father who gave up His own life as a Son, thereby grafting us into Himself causing us to become partakers of His free gift of salvation. He is the one who loves us with an everlasting love. It cost the Lord His life as a Son to redeem us as His people, Redeeming (bringing us back) to the place where we could walk and talk and fellowship with God. (as friend with friend)
Indeed, He brought us back from the place of condemnation so that we could fellowship with Him. Remember, Adam did not originally hide from God. Adam started His hiding when sin consumed him. The old covenant no longer applies because Jesus redeemed us -- paying the price once and for all -- and now because of redemption and God's ultimate sacrifice of sacrifices (God Himself as a Son willingly committed Himself as a living sacrifice), we can be saved. Jesus allowed Adam’s fallen sinful race to pursue Him, an opportunity to commune with God our Saviour.
After the kindness and love of God our Saviour, who willingly endured an agonizing, brutal animalistic, inhumane torture, that culminated in crucifixion, so that you and I can receive His gift of salvation. (Titus 3:4-7) Jesus paid the price in full -- once ad for all.
But there is a second point that needs to be made here. That is, the religious culture negates apostle Paul's writings (note that Paul received his understanding of the gospel by revelation), when Paul asks -- do all speak with tongues?
"Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?" (I Corinthians 12:27-29)

Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?" (I Corinthians 12:27-29)
Or that apostle Paul would rather that we who believe prophesieth, unless there is a believer within the assembly with the gift of interpretation?
"I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?" (I Corinthians 14:5-7)
When Paul writes, "I would that ye all" -- doesn't that suggest that not all would speak in tongues?Again, Paul confirms that tongues are for a sign -- not to them that believe, but to them that believe not.
"Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believes not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:" (I Corinthians 14:22-24)
In understanding the gifts, know that we are to desire spiritual gifts -- plural -- and that the Lord our God and Saviour gives "severally" as He will. Again, plural. So if you speak in tongues (tongues of men or of angels) know that there is so much more that the Lord wants to give those who love Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
If you have not spoken in tongues, get to know your scriptures and what the Lord wants us to know about spiritual gifts -- so that we are not ignorant of the Lord's blessings upon His people. Remember too, that heaven and earth in its entirety was His inheritance. Jesus, being the only begotten Son of God, bequeathed all of His inheritance to us. As a gift. All of this inheritance was bequeathed to us, while we were (yet) still His enemies. Think of this. Indeed, if that be the case, just imagine the treasures that lie yet in store for us. The scriptures state that eye has not seen, neither has ear heard the things that God has in store for all the offspring of Jesus. The same Jesus, who Himself seeded us in his death.
Except a seed of wheat fall into the ground and die. It will only be one wheat, but if it dies it brings forth much wheat. Jesus is the Seed and like the wheat example, He wants us to multiply. He wants us to accept the gift of His salvation - His one-time sacrifice on the cross. Further, He wants us to become His people - Jesus People. If any man or woman be the offspring of Jesus he or she is now a new creation in God. And yes, as a consequence, we will speak as His Spirit gives us utterance.
Like the apostles in Acts 2, we are not to forbid the speaking in tongues. For he that speaks in an unknown tongue is not speaking to man. He is speaking to God, praising and magnifying Him for His goodness and grace. And in the s/Spirit, the language spoken from the heart speaks mysteries. But we also know (according to the scriptures) that not every one will speak in tongues.
For clarity, "Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way." (I Corinthians 12:29-31)

If we answer yes to tongues, then we should also be responding in the affirmative to the other questions -- are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? have all the gifts of healing? do all interpret?
Thus, meditate on these scriptures and ask the Lord Jesus to fill you with His understanding and wisdom and knowledge. And let's all desire all the spiritual gifts, the operations, the administrations, the aides, and more, plus all the spiritual gifts that the Lord Jesus has for us His people. Let Him give you severally as He will. Peace to all who are in Jesus!

Now He Which Establishes You Is Christ, Who Hath Also Sealed Us - Part 2407
"Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ!" (Romans 1:6)
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain ..." (I Corinthians 15:1-2)
Apostle Paul (in a similar fashion to John the baptizer) points to this same Christ -- behold, the Lamb of God -- by whom we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand. Indeed, Paul explains "that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:7-9)
Thus, it is because of His kindness and mercy, and the exceeding riches of His grace that allows those of us who believe that Jesus is both Lord and Christ by faith to rejoice in the hope of the glory of God ... because He is our all and all. The King of kings and Lord of lords, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. (Acts 2:36; Revelation 1:8; I Timothy 3:16; John 1:10-11)

Jesus -- the Bread of Life!
And not only so, as the scriptures explain, but because of the hefty price Jesus paid on the cross, with His own precious, holy blood, we are able to glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation works patience ... and patience, experience ... and experience hope, and hope makes not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:2-5)
Yes, He who has purposed His body of Christ church from the very beginning desires to establish us in His goodness and grace -- sealing us with His robe of righteousness. Even now, Jesus continues to invite us to partake of the greatest love story ever told. This same Jesus -- the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He will never leave nor forsake those who love Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Thou Wilt Make Me Full Of Gladness With Thy Presence - Part 2406
"And so, because he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat [one] of his descendants upon the throne, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay. This Jesus God raised up again to which we are all witnesses.
"Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but He Himself says, "The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies footstool for Thy feet."
Therefore, let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ -- this Jesus whom you crucified." (Acts 2:20-36)
The prophecy told by the prophets from afore had come to fruition -- that the same Christ who had followed the Israelites through the Red Sea willingly shed His precious blood on a cross so that we -- every one of us could find abundant life in Him. So, what is the rest of the message spoken herein on the day of Pentecost?
Peter (standing with the eleven) responded further by instructing those who were pricked in their hearts to repent, and be baptized every one of you to be [water] baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:36-38)
As a consequence, the first 3,000 souls saved in the New Testament side repented and were water baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This Acts 2 message has not changed over the passage of time. It is still valid today, particularly if we are to be clothed in the righteousness of Jesus. (Similar to the blood on the door posts when the angel of death passed over the Israelites in the Old Testament -- but that is an example to discuss on another day.)
For this day, know that Jesus is still inviting us into His body of Christ church, wherein He is the Head. The Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending, and there is no other beside Him. Or as Peter said, "This same Jesus whom ye have crucified is both Lord and Christ." (Acts 2:36)

According To The Eternal Purpose Which He Purposed In Christ Jesus Our Lord: - Part 2405
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
"... who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began!" (II Timothy 1:9)
There have been many questions about scriptural genealogies. We find these accounts in both the old and new testaments. In the first, we understand the first man to be Adam. In the first book of the Old Testament, Genesis, we learn that Adam had a vested interest in Eve -- for she was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.
But God had a much greater interest in Adam insomuch as Adam’s creation was the created works of His own hand. In this context, Adam was the earthly image of God’s spiritual form. A perfect image or as some might surmise, a priceless work of art. However, in the beginning Adam was lifeless. So God breathed into Adam the breath of life, resulting in Adam being called “a living soul."
(As an aside, please note that a living soul can become a dead soul for God has said, “that the soul that sins it shall surely die.”)
As we also know from reading Genesis, Adam and Eve sinned and were subsequently put out of the Garden of Eden. Prior to their expulsion from the Garden, God announced that certain curses would now befall them. Curses that in God's perfect garden had not befallen them before. At the same time, God issued a promise, “that the Seed of a woman would bruise the serpent head.”
The serpent alluded to here is satan who had deceived them to do things which were contrary to God’s instructions. This included eating from either of the two trees that were in the midst of the Garden of Eden.
But Eve was deceived by the serpent. And Adam? Well, he point blankly ignored God’s instruction. This is what the scriptures refer to as wilful sin - sins which carried consequences. Until this time, Adam and Eve were perfect ... Adam created in the image of God. Indeed, the couple was perfect right up until the lying deceitful serpent showed up. The serpent (satan) has been tagged by God as the father of all lies. As a consequence, sin slithered into the midst of the Garden.
We also read in Genesis that Adam and Eve initially had two sons. One son was named Cain and the second son Abel. Their personalities totally differed, yet they were the offspring of two perfectly created earthly images of God’s visible spiritual form. At least they were perfect in the Garden. But now they were outside the Garden with a promise “that the seed of a woman would bruise the serpent head.” We realize now that this seed was Christ.
Still, Adam and Eve had two sons. The conduct of Adam and Eve’s offspring was far from being perfect. We see this when we read that Cain rose up and slew his brother Abel. This resulted in Adam and Eve having to confront the stark reality of death. And that Cain, their son was a murderer. The small family was now being thrust into situations where they had never experienced these types of emotions. After all, the Garden of Eden was perfect. (Comfort can be found in I Corinthians 15)
Later, Adam and Eve begat another son who they named Seth. Remember earlier that Eve was told that the seed of a woman would bruise the serpent head. Well, God had implanted into Eve’s seed bank a promised seed -- a seed that was not to be one of Adam and Eve’s natural seed. No instead, this seed of promise was to be a new seed -- a different blood line (the seed of promise being Christ),
So when Seth was born it is recorded “that men then began to call upon the NAME of the LORD.” The Promised Seed had now passed into Seth along with Eve’s natural seed which had brought forth Seth. So, it is here that the journey begins - until the promised seed Jesus who is and was the Christ is born. The promised seed journey is recorded in Matthew 1 and Luke 3.
The point here is that from Adam and Eve THREE seeds came forth. Each seed brought forth different personalities -- different because sin had contaminated the seed. There is a purpose in the scriptural New Testament example -- when JESUS said let the little children come to Me and do not forbid children to come to Me.
You see, there is a purpose for each and every one of us -- a God-designed purpose wherein we aspire to become like Jesus, and fulfill His mission for our life. It's easy to look back and see what happened to the offspring of Adam and Eve, but are we asking ourselves -- what has our Lord God and Saviour purposed for our own lives?
Today, is a blank page. Let's write the Lord's blessings all over it and so much so, that the world that is in darkness and lost desires the Jesus that dwells within. Yes, become that city on the hill for Jesus. Time is short.
Stand in the offering plate.
Consider The Ravens; For They Neither Sow Nor Reap, And God Feeds Them - Part 2404
"... and they that buy, as though they possessed not." (I Corinthians 7:30)
And Jesus said unto him, "Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?" And He said unto them, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses." (Luke 12:13; I Timothy 6:6-10; Hebrews 13:5)
Jesus continues -- "And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will He clothe you -- O ye of little faith?
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, when He will return from the wedding; that when He comes and knocks, they may open unto Him immediately.
Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he comes shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if He shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when ye think not." (Luke 12:1-40)
Then Peter said unto [Him], "Lord, speak Thou this parable unto us, or even to all?" And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom [His] Lord shall make ruler over His household, to give [them their] portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when He comes shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that He will make him ruler over all that He hath.
But -- and if that servant say in his heart, "My Lord delays His coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the Lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for Him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
And that servant, which knew his Lord’s will, and prepared not [himself], neither did according to His will, shall be beaten with many [stripes]. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: for from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And He said also to the people, "When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, "There comes a shower" -- and so it is. And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, "There will be heat" -- and it comes to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?"
Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as [thou art] in the way, give diligence that thou may be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison. I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite." (Luke 12:14-59)
Lots of insights to contemplate here. Stand in the offering plate.
Before continuing, remember here that Jesus came to seek that which was lost; to redeem us from our sin; to clothe us in His righteousness; and to give to those who believe in Him everlasting life. (Matthew 1:21-23; I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6) In fact, Jesus paid the purchase for our sins with His own precious blood. (Acts 20:28) For this cause, He is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first [old] testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal life." (Hebrews 9:15)
"For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead; otherwise, it is of no strength at all while the testator lives. Whereupon, neither the first testament was dedicated without blood." (Hebrews 9:16-18)
In other words, and for clarity, a last will and testament only comes into force after one dies. This is the pattern which God fashioned His salvation plan wherein He declares peace and good will to all -- through the shedding of blood. Thus, as the scripture saith, "Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:28)
So, after speaking about heavenly things, pinpointing the leaven of the Pharisees as hypocrisy in Luke 12, one of the company asks Jesus -- "Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me." (Luke 12:13) It is most certainly an interesting statement. At the time, the multitude of people who gathered together to listen to Jesus were innumerable. So much so, that they actually trode one upon another.
Nevertheless, Jesus is clearly speaking of the heavenly (spiritual) herein. Yet this man not only remains focused on earthly treasures, but desires that Jesus speak to his brother about dividing his inheritance with him. Perhaps, the man's question (statement?) was one of the tricks used by the scribes and Pharisees -- who were laying in wait for Him, seeking to catch something out of His mouth that they might accuse Him. (Luke 11:53-54) But it also suggests to me that this man did not hear or acknowledge any of the insights which Jesus spoke. (Luke 12:1-12)
Jesus responds, saying, "Man, who made Me a judge or divider over you? Take heed and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possess." (Luke 12:14-15) Thus, instead of conversing further. Jesus goes onto share a parable about a rich fool.
Jesus said, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, "What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?" And he said, "This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, "Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry." But God said unto him, "Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?" So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." (Luke 12:14-21)
Jesus then reveals a better way to live -- one that does not focus on things that are temporal (things of the earth) but instead the heavenly. Thus, to His disciples, Jesus said, "Therefore I say unto you -- take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?"
Rejoice That Your Name Is Written In Heaven, Remembering The Harvest Is Great And Labourers Few - Part 2401
“That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us ...” (II Timothy 1:14)
Jesus said, “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in Spirit, and said, “I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in Thy sight. All things are delivered to Me of My Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and [He] to whom the Son will reveal [Him].” (Luke 10:20-22)
For context herein, the Lord Jesus was initially teaching the brethren about discipleship. In particular, Jesus was teaching those listening -- to follow Him. Luke cites three examples of individuals who quickly express a desire to follow Jesus. The first tells Jesus -- "Lord, I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest." But the other two had to take care of other responsibilities first. When this dialogue was occurring, note that Jesus had just finished saying, "Foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man hath not where to lay [His] head." (Luke 9:58) Jesus concludes this particular teaching by saying, "No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)
Moving forward then into Luke 10, Jesus appoints another seventy disciples, sending them two and two before His face, into every city and place where Jesus planned to go. He said unto them, "The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, "Peace be to this house." And if the Son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire.
Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, "The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you." But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, "Even the very dust of your city, which cleaves on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city." (Luke 10:1-12; Matthew 10:7-15)
In studying comparable scriptural passages further, note that earlier, Jesus had given His twelve disciples the same message -- but to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (not the Gentiles or the city of the Samaritans) and as ye go, preach, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils, freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold nor silver nor brass in your purses, nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves; for the workman is worthy of his meat." (Matthew 10:1-14; Acts 13:51-52)
Going full circle, Jesus later asks these same disciples, "When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing?" What was the disciples response? "Nothing!" (Luke 22:35) Read the disciples response again -- Jesus' disciples lacked nothing. NOTHING! Why? Because as Jesus said, the workman is worthy of his meat.
There is also a notable time difference that had lapsed between the initial instruction for the disciples to go forth and Jesus later asking them if they lacked anything. I have to wonder if the disciples (like us) needed the passage of time - an opportunity to look back upon their/our lives to fully acknowledge the Lord's faithfulness in all things. Regardless, the disciples confirmed that they lacked nothing when they went out preaching -- the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
A second point worth observing is that when the disciples decided to follow Jesus as both Lord and Christ in their hearts, they had to first leave their nets behind. Like the first man in the example above, who stated, "Lord, I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest."
A third point worth sharing is that when the disciples were welcomed into a house, these were to heal the sick within, confirming, "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
Indeed, Jesus gave the disciples power "to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in Heaven." (Luke 10:19-20)
In other words, don't forget the harvest that is still awaiting the time that someone tells them of the wonder and awe of the Lord Jesus, His goodness and mercy and grace. As written in Titus, "after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared ..." (Titus 3:4-7)
In concluding, note that it must have been a really good message for the disciples to take in because afterward, Jesus rejoices! And turning to His disciples, Jesus says privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; for I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them, and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard [them]." (Luke 10:23-24)
Thus we should be rejoicing likewise: "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, "Rejoice." Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ..." (Philippians 4:4-9)
Paul and Silvanus, and Timotheus reaffirm Jesus' teaching herein when writing unto the church of the Thessalonians -- to "pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as [it is] with you: and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for all have not faith ... but the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil." (II Thessalonians 3:1-3)
On another day, we will tackle what happens to those cities that reject you because of the Lord Jesus dwelling within. Yes, so much more to share, but for this day, know that the Lord Jesus is forever faithful to those who love Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Deuteronomy 4:6; Mark 12:29-31)
That good thing which was committed unto thee, keep by the Holy Ghost which dwells within us.

Now The Lord Is That Spirit; And Where The Spirit Of The Lord Is There Is Liberty - Part 2400
“For our gospel came not unto you in Word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the Word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost ..” (I Thessalonians 1:5-6)
There is so much to understand when it comes to the good news gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. To begin, the salvation message is the greatest story ever told -- wherein the Lord God who created the world in the beginning loved His people enough to become as one of us -- so that He could bring us abundant life in Him.
That is, He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not. (John 1:10-11) The Word made flesh and dwelt among us so that we could behold His glory -- as the only begotten of the Father. Did you catch that? Jesus was the ONLY begotten of the Father -- the visible image of the invisible God -- and as the only begotten -- He delivered the one and only salvation plan, the plan that was decided before the world was formed.
God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16) To wit, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. (II Corinthians 5:19)
His Name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins. The One and Only who willingly shed His precious blood so that you and I might have abundant life in Him. God our Saviour.
“ … not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” (Titus 3:5)

Jesus -- First and Last; Alpha and Omega; Beginning and Ending; Everlasting Father -- The Almighty -- Part 2399
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:” (I Corinthians 2:7)
Jesus said, “If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him.” (John 14:7) In the same conversation, Jesus saith unto Philip, "Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?” (John 14:9)
In another place, Jesus said, “I and My Father are one.” (John 10:30 )
In yet another place, Jesus said to those Jews which believed on Him, "If ye continue in My Word, [then] are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31)
Then said they unto Him, "Where is Thy Father?" Jesus answered, "Ye neither know Me, nor My Father: if ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also." Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:18-19) Later, Jesus said, ”I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.” (John 8:24 )
From the scriptures, we know that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16) ”For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:9)Indeed, the angel of the Lord, when he declared peace and good will to one and all, the angel also said, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:21-23)
After Jesus rose from the dead, appearing to His disciples, Thomas answered and said unto Him, "my Lord and my God.” (John 20:28)
Stephen also called upon God, as the scripture states, saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit" (Acts 7:45, 59)
Again, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (I Timothy 3:16)
In the end of the New Testament (within the book of Revelation, wherein we learn who Jesus really is) Jesus said, ”I AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending ... which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)
In Hebrews, we understand that Jesus is the brightness of [His] glory and the express image of His person. He is the image of the invisible God; God manifest in the flesh; God with us. Apostle Paul wrote, "To wit, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself." (II Corinthians 5:17-19) He is our Lord and our God and as prophesied by Isaiah, "He is the everlasting Father." No other god beside Him because He -- the One and Only God -- is the Almighty!
His Name in this current dispensation of grace -- Jesus. The Name that is above every name. (Acts 4:12; Philippians 2:9) There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
This same JESUS -- the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes unto the Father but by Him! (John 14:6-12) He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not. (John 1:10-11)
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” (I John 3:16)
