Blessed the Lord O My Soul And All That Is Within Me - Part 1066

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases; who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed." (Psalms 103:1-6)

"Blessed He that cometh in the Name of the Lord." (Matthew 23:38-39)

He who knew no sin was crucified and buried, rising again on the third day. This was prophesied earlier in the old testament so it should not have come as a surprise. Indeed, the scriptures state that as Jonas was three days and three nights in the belly of whale, likewise must the son of man be three days and three nights in the bowels of the earth. (Matthew 12:40)

But there is so much more to learn here. First, the Spirit of God would not suffer to see His previous inhabited body see corruption. He had already suffered from the beginning, knowing that He had to shed His holy precious blood on the cross if we were to be saved.

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high .... Being made so much better than the angels, as He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent "name" than they.

For unto which of the angels said He at any time, "Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten thee?" And again, "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son?" And again, when He bringeth in the first begotten into the world, He saith, "And let all the angels of God worship Him." And of the angels He saith, "Who maketh His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire."

But unto the Son He saith, "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Thine hands. They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment, and as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but Thou art the same, and Thy years shall not fail." (Hebrews 1:1-12)

Judgement ended when the now cursed body of the man Jesus was declared dead by one of His executioners. Two of His followers removed Jesus' body from the Roman cross. This Jesus, being none other than God Himself veiled in sinful flesh and appearing to mankind as a Son, remained entombed for three days and three nights.

Ironically, the modern religious community (and many who profess a secular persuasion as well) subscribe to the belief that Jesus remained entombed from Friday to Sunday. In fact, Easter is celebrated beginning with Good Friday to Easter Sunday. But, simply put, that would be very bad math. Unfortunately, when generational error is seated, only God can remove the scales from one's spiritual eyes.

Moreover, when one dies, it is only the outer shell that dies. The punishment then being administered to one's bodily carcass. The suffering, hurt and pain that one feels however is spiritual. For example, the inner man squirms when the outer shell receives some out of ordinary affliction.

This is the reason why Jesus is our one and only faithful high priest. He endured the all for you and me. But again, as indicated in earlier posts, those who follow Jesus with all their heart, soul, mind and strength are never left in the dark. Just as He does now, Jesus then revealed His imminent future to His followers, telling them of all the things that must come to pass.

First, that He would be crucified on a cross. Second, that He would be buried. Third, that He would rise from death the third day. Fourth, that there would be a resurrection. How do we know this to be true?

After the resurrection, Jesus walked with two of His followers who thought that Jesus was a stranger to the vicinity. To them,  He was in the dark concerning recent events, having to inform Jesus that today is the third day since these things came to pass. Jesus rose from the tomb on the first day of the week of sabbaths fulfilling Leviticus Chapter 23. Here, some would advance the presentation that Jesus appeared to His disciples on Sunday and that the following Sunday again appeared to them. This second time, appearing when Thomas was present. In so doing, they endeavour to establish a pattern that Jesus was appearing weekly. However, once again entertaining bad math, and may I add, a misguided interpretation of the scriptures.

Read the scriptures for yourself. Jesus' second appearance, as it is recorded was eight days later. Paul by the Spirit, states that Jesus was crucified, then buried before rising again the third day. We are presented with what John saw and noted at the tomb. He noted that the head wrappings which had encased Jesus' head were now folded and laid separate from the rest of the body wrappings which were not moved. Indeed, the body wrappings remained exactly intact as they had been laid.

So much to learn about the King of kings and Lord of lords. This Jesus -- who is the only Head of this body known as the Church, and the one Head of this church body was completed with death. Note that the main redeemed church has still to pass through death (the last enemy to be conquered is death!). As stated, first we were sown with a natural body but after death we are quickened receiving a spiritual body.  Absent from the body and present with the Lord. No detours. No side roads to pursue.

One breath here and the next with our Lord God and Saviour.

And within this spiritual body of Christ, jointly and custom framed together by no other than the Lord Himself, will be the only temple in which He is pleased to dwell. His habitation. His body of which He is the sole Head. The first day of the week of sabbaths is the Resurrection Day. Paul called the elders together on the first day of the week of sabbaths to break bread. Not to have communion which would have remembered His death. They had assembled to break bread, which typifies a resurrected living indwelling Saviour.

Do you understand what this means?

In this context, the early believers went from house to house breaking bread and eating their meat with singleness of heart. Jesus the Bread of Life. Jesus was known to them in the breaking of bread. LORD, break the bread of life to us that we may grow in grace and knowledge of you. Blessed is His Name.

Come Inherit The Kingdom Prepared For You From the Foundation of the World - Part 1065

Our Christian faith was never intended to be something separate from our every day lives. Rather, faith in Jesus is the critical link that provides believers today with the necessary understanding to experience and interpret life. We see this in the book of Mark chapter 8. Here, the crowds had been gathered around Jesus for three days with nothing to eat. Jesus knew that if He sent them home, some of the people might not make it because of their physical hunger. They might faint. But Jesus’ disciples thinking only from a physical perspective asked, “How can one feed these men with [only] bread here in the desert?” After all, altogether there are only 7 loaves and a few small fishes to be had, hardly enough pickings to feed 4,000.
The disciples’ question is often similar to our own lives when things start piling up against us with no immediate resolution in sight. Here were the disciples in the same situation, wondering with their “earthly” world view how Jesus intended to satisfy the crowd’s physical hunger. What the disciples didn’t comprehend is that Jesus understood the people’s “spiritual” hunger. That for three days straight the crowds had lingered for more of Jesus’ teachings and parables. More of Jesus’ miracles and healings. More of Jesus!
Just like Jesus already knew the heart of the Greek woman, a Syrophoenician by birth whose daughter had a demon. She begged Jesus to help. Jesus said in Mark 7:27-29, “Let the children first be fed for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” But the woman answered Jesus saying, “Yes Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
The mother’s request was for a physical healing but like the crowd of 4,000, this woman had a spiritual hunger – an ultimate faith that Jesus could and would heal her daughter’s sickness. She wasn’t about to leave unsatisfied. Jesus saw the desire of the mother’s heart and the daughter was healed. Like the crowd who for 3 days wanted more of Jesus. More of Jesus in spite of the physical.
There was a lesson being taught here. It was what teachers today call a teaching moment – a revelation. That is, when Jesus took the 7 loaves and few small fishes and gave thanks over them, the food multiplied to the point that the crowd ate and were satisfied. Full. When the meal was finished and the broken pieces of food collected, there were seven baskets in total. More than the crowd started with. Imagine what the disciples thought then.
This is why our faith in Jesus is integral to who we are. Because Jesus sees and knows the very desires of our heart. He wants to bless us with His abundance — just like the mother who wouldn’t settle for a physical response — just like the crowds who wanted more of Jesus in spite of the physical. As Christians, this is what faith is about — when it becomes intertwined with our very being. Therefore, faith is not intended to be separate – put on the shelf until we need it – but intertwined in every aspect of our walk with our Lord and Saviour. The disciples needed to learn this lesson and many times so do we. Take hold of Jesus today and don’t let go for He never fails! Never …
“Who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from that time? Have  from ancient time? Have not I the Lord? And there is no God else beside me, a just God and a Saviour — there is none beside Me. Look unto Me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45:21-22)

By Whom We Have Received Grace and Apostleship For His Name - Part 1064

"Not to Him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel AND the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, but now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith; to God only wise, [be] glory through Jesus Christ for ever, amen." (Romans 16:25-27)

Sadly, for many in religious circles, the mystery of the Godhead is just that -- still a mystery. But like any mystery, the answer can be found by searching the source material. In this case, the revelation of the mystery -- "which was kept secret since the world began" is now made manifest. Thus, we can find the answer by searching the scriptures of the prophets (according to the commandment of the everlasting God -- the author speaking His Word through the prophets) in conjunction with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Apostle Paul explains it this way: "Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure, which He hath purposed in Himself ... that in the dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, [even] in Him; in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being pre-destinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will -- that we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ, in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom ye also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise -- which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession unto the praise of His glory, wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love unto all the saints." (Ephesians 1:9-15)

And again, "For this cause, I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles. If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: how that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the gospel: whereof I was made a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of His power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ; to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

According to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.(Ephesians 3:1-21)

And then again over in Colossians: "[Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints; to whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory' whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus." (Colossians 1:26)

And in Timothy: "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (I Timothy 3:16)

And Jude as well: "To the only wise God our Saviour, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." (Jude 1:25)

Thank you Jesus for your goodness and grace, and for revealing the mystery that was hidden in the bosom of the Father from the beginning of the world. Yes, God became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:1-18) "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.: (Matthew 1:26)

The mystery now? God now lives within. Stand in the offering plate.

The Fountain of Living Waters Will Never Run Dry in Jesus Christ Our Lord - Part 1063

"Behold, I will send My messenger and he shall prepare the way before Me; and the Lord whom ye seek shall suddenly come to His temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in; behold, He shall come," saith the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 3:1)

John the Baptist preached in the wilderness of Judaea. At the time, 400 plus years had passed since the Lord had spoken to His chosen people. "In His love and in His pity, He redeemed them; and He bare them, and carried them all the days of old, but they rebelled and vexed His holy Spirit, therefore, He was turned to be their enemy ...." (Isaiah 63:9-10)

Nevertheless, here is the messenger John the Baptist -- "the voice of one crying in the wilderness" preaching the message of repentance to anyone that would listen. That is, to "prepare ye the way of the Lord. Make His paths straight." (Matthew 3:2)

For those who may not be aware, John the Baptist was in fact confirming the scriptures of old. "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, and the kingdom shall not be left to other people [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (Daniel 2:44)

Mark scribes it this way. "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; as it is written in the prophets, "Behold, I send My messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight." (Mark 1:2)

"And this is the record of John, which when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who art thou?" And he confessed, and denied not, but confessed "I am not the Christ." And they asked him, "What then? Art thou Elias?" And he saith, "I am not." They again asked, "Art thou that prophet?" And he answered, "No." Then they said unto him, "Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?" John said, "I [am] the voice of one crying in the wilderness. Make straight the way of the Lord" -- as said the prophet Esaias." (John 1:19-23; Matthew 3:3; Isaiah 40:3)

As you can see, the scriptures do not contradict but rather, confirm the same message. God is not the Author of confusion. (I Corinthians 14:33) There would be a forerunner to Jesus, and in this case it was John. Even before John's birth, his father Zacharias -- filled with the Holy Ghost began prophesying, saying,

"Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel; for He hath visited and redeemed His people, and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, as He spake by the mouth of His holy prophets, which have been since the world began -- that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; to perform the mercy [promised] to our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant; the oath which He sware to our father Abraham -- that He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life.

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways; to give knowledge of salvation unto His people by the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us ... to give light to them that sit in darkness and [in] the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." (Luke 1:67-79)

Dayspring -- essentially, what we were being told is that a new day was about to dawn, ushering in a new testament -- a new beginning that God had decided for Himself before the world was formed. This is why Jesus said, "for this is [He] of whom it is written -- "Behold, I send My messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee." (Matthew 11:10)

Jesus was the Highest -- the Almighty God, whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us. Yes, He Himself who knew no sin became sin for you and I. He -- Jesus who is our heavenly Father in the flesh is the Light of the world, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God ... He was in the world, and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not, but as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, to them that believe on His name ... and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us -- and we beheld His glory." (John 1:1-18)

When Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, He began to teach and to preach in their cities. And, when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples to inquire whether Jesus was "He that should come, or do we look for another?" (Matthew 11:1-3)

Jesus answered and said unto them, "Go and show John again those things which ye do hear and see; the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them, and blessed is [he] whosoever shall not be offended in Me." (Matthew 11:4-6)

As they departed Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, "What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft [clothing] are in king's houses. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you and more than a prophet ... for this is [He] of whom it is written -- "Behold, I send My messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee." (Matthew 11:7-10)

God not only created us in the beginning but loved us enough to give Himself as a sacrifice on an old wooded cross so that we might know Him, and love Him, and sojourn with Him in the cool of the day. If you don't know Jesus, and His fountain of living waters that will never run dry, ask Him to be Lord of your life today. Believe on His name. Seek Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. And if you do know our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ as your personal Saviour, you already know that His promises are true.

And in the days of these kings will the God of heaven set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. His bride -- the body of Christ whereby Jesus is the high priest, the chief cornerstone, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

Most of all, know too that "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew [their] strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, [and] they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31) Stand in the offering plate.

The Same Jesus Who Seeded Us In His Death Invites Us To Come - Part 1062

The gift of tongues is given as a sign. Note however that tongues is not given as a sign to believers. Why? Because believers in Jesus by faith had already experienced His grace and goodness. We had tasted the living water wherein we never quench for thirst again.

Jesus said, "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14)

Jesus again said, "He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:38)

"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring." (Isaiah 44:3)
You see, tongues were given to believers so that the non-believers (the observers of the gathering in Acts 2) would understood tongues as an expression of an audible and visible manifestation. Some might say that the tongues were of a peculiar happening. Did the Lord not say that one of the signs that would occur in a believer's new birth experience is that believers would speak with a new tongue? Of course. Believers have been adopted into the family of God.

To some extent, this heavenly language, recognized as tongues may be surprising to Adam’s offspring but they are quite the norm to members of the family of God  Indeed, through the manifestation of tongues, God endeavoured to prompt the attention of unbelievers. Yet in spite of all that they heard and saw, God sadly declared their unbelieving eyes and ears to be closed. But I digress.

What we do know from the scriptures is that angels also have a tongue and God too. How else would He have been able to counsel with Himself in the beginning? Indeed, it is recorded that in the beginning was the Word. Wisdom! God framed the world with His own Word. God said, "Let there be" and be there was. (Genesis 1:1-31)

In Acts, Jesus had just ascended "until the day in which He was taken up, after that through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen -- to whom also He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs." (Acts 1:1-4)

And being assembled together, the apostles have been instructed to remain in Jerusalem until they were imbued with power from on high. The apostles along with 120 believers were gathered together in the upper room. All of a sudden a sound appeared, like that of a mighty rushing wind. This sound filling all the room where the people were gathered. In some ways, if one needs an analogy, the sound might be compared to today's surround sound. Here, in this room, suddenly there appeared unto them tongues like as a uncontrollable fire (purifying) and it "sat." How else could one describe this experience that tongues plain and simply "sat" upon each and every one of them?

Just like God's plan of salvation, the gift of tongues was personally delivered to each believer. And as detailed in the scriptures, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)  Speaking in a new language but this time a holy Spirit language. To those of you who ask why a new language? The response is simple.  The people were being reborn. Renewed. The people were now born of God, not by the will of the flesh nor by the will of man but born by the blood of His holy Spirit.

Each person in the midst was purchased, redeemed and justified, and as a consequence, they were now the children of the second Adam, who is the Lord Himself. A brand new spiritual people indwelt by the Spirit of their Father and now born into the Kingdom of God. Our heavenly Father who gave up His own life as a Son, thereby grafting us into Himself causing us to become partakers of His free gift of salvation. He is the one who loves us with an everlasting love. It cost the Lord His life as a Son to redeem us as His people, redeeming (bringing us back) to the place where we could walk and talk and fellowship with God. (as friend with friend)

He called us back so that we could fellowship with Him. Remember, Adam did not originally hide from God. Adam started hiding when sin showed up. The old covenant no longer applies.  Jesus redeemed us, and now because of redemption and God's ultimate sacrifice of sacrifices (God Himself as a Son willingly committed Himself as a living sacrifice) we can be saved. Jesus allowed Adam’s fallen sinful race to pursue Him to an agonizing, brutal animalistic, inhumane torture, that culminated in crucifixion, and because of His love, we have been freely given the gift of salvation. Jesus paid the price in full.

Imagine a love this true. Love beyond man's wildest dreams. Undoubtedly, both heaven and earth in its entirety was His inheritance. Jesus, being the only begotten Son of God, bequeathed all of His inheritance to us. As a gift. All of this inheritance was bequeathed to us, while we were still His enemies. Think of this. Indeed, if that be the case, just imagine the treasures that lie yet in store for us. The scriptures state that eye has not seen, neither has ear heard the things that God has in store for all the offspring of Jesus. The same Jesus, who Himself seeded us in His death.

Except a seed of wheat fall into the ground and die. It will only be one wheat, but if it dies it brings forth much wheat. Jesus is the Seed and like the wheat example, He wants us to multiply. He wants us to accept the gift of His salvation - His sacrifice on the cross. Further, He wants us to become His people - the Jesus People. If any man or woman be the offspring of Jesus he or she is now a new creation in God. And yes, as a consequence, we should also speak in tongues as His Spirit gives us utterance.

Like the apostles, we also do not forbid the speaking in tongues. For he that speaks in an unknown tongue is not speaking to man. He is speaking to God. And in the Spirit he speaks mysteries. Stand in the offering plate.

Be Watchful and Strengthen the Things Which Remain - Part 1061

Jesus said, "I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him and sup with him and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20)

My question for today is this. Why has the good news gospel of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ become so complicated, and full of religious, legalistic expectations? Could it be that man-made religion has complicated the simplicity of the gospel, adding to the gospel rather than encouraging believers to seek Jesus -- the Author and Finisher of our faith with all their heart, soul, mind and strength? (Hebrews 12:12)

Jesus warned against the churches in the book of Revelation. "But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. "Repent", or else I will come unto thee quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth." (Revelation 2:14-15)

Then He said, "To those who overcome, Jesus will give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a white stone and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it." (Revelation 2:17)

Think about this for a moment. Overcome what? Could it be those who "overcome" the false doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, and to them that hold to the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes -- which He hates? Is it possible that the promise is given to those who hold to the heritage of Jesus -- the faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead, the Prince of the kings of the earth, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending -- "which is, and which was, and which is to come -- the Almighty" and not the false doctrines of modern day religion who push the King of kings aside. (Revelation 1:8, 11; 4:8; 11:17; Isaiah 9:6; 41:4)

Remember, the entire book of Revelation is "the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto Him to show unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified [it] by His angel unto His servant John; who bare record of the Word of God and of the testimony of Jesus Christ and of all things that He saw." (Revelation 1:1-3)

What did He say? "Blessed [is] he that readeth and they that hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein; for the time [is] at hand." (Revelation 1:1-3)

Not another prophecy as modern day religious leaders would have you believe -- who regularly promote their soothsayer prophetic word over uninformed believers -- but blessed are they that read and hear the very Word of God and His prophecy. I read somewhere that the early church read the entire book of Revelation to the multitudes at every meeting. Whether they did or didn't isn't so much the point but rather, that we as members of the body of Christ -- through Jesus by faith are not reading His Word. Sadly, we are not seeking Him in our day to day as we are instructed.

Jesus told both to the multitude and  His disciples, "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat ..." (Matthew 23:1-2)

"O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things, But I say unto you, "That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." (Matthew 12:33-37)

Jesus said, "Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? And in Thy name have cast out devils? And in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:21-23)

Jesus counsels us "to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich, and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayst see." (Revelation 3:18)

In other words, man-made religion serves only to distract us from the good news gospel of Jesus Christ. But we have a higher calling in the King of kings and Lord of lords. Stand in the offering plate.

Blessed Is He That Cometh In The Name of The Lord - Part 1060

"Thou O King [art] a King of kings, for the God of heaven hath given Thee a kingdom, power, strength, and glory." (Daniel 2:37)

As believers in our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ, and thus, likewise diligently seeking Jesus daily by faith, we should never be without. Why? Because Jesus told us that He would lead us and guide us into all knowledge and truth. Therefore, we should never be influenced by those "having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof .. for of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth." (II Timothy 3:5-7)

Sadly, this latter "religious" spirit was evident even in the old testament. Therein, the Lord asks, "To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me?"

Certainly an interesting question, and worthy to read again -- but the second time on a more personal level. The Lord's response is telling too.

"To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me? I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats." Rather, "when ye come to appear before Me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread My courts? Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto Me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot -- away with; it [is] iniquity, even the solemn meeting." (Isaiah 1:11-13)

(For those who may not know, the word oblation is defined as: 1. the act of making a religious offering; specifically capitalized: the act of offering the Eucharistic elements to God. 2. something offered in worship or devotion: a holy gift offered usually at an altar or shrine.)

A further reference from the old testament offers yet another telling example. The Lord speaks --"O priests, that despise My name." And ye say, "Wherein have we despised Thy name?" Ye offer polluted bread upon mine alter; and ye say, "Wherein have we polluted Thee?" In that ye say, "The table of the Lord is contemptible." And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, [is it] not evil? And if ye offer the lame and sick, [is it] not evil? Offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person?" saith the Lord of hosts. "And now I pray you, beseech God that He will be gracious unto us; this hath been by your means; will He regard your persons?" saith the Lord of hosts. "Who is [there] even among you that would shut the doors [for nought]? Neither do ye kindle [fire] on mine alter for nought. I have no pleasure in you," saith the Lord of Host, "neither will I accept an offering at your hand." (Malachi 1:6-9)

Perhaps, this summarizes why the Lord would tell His chosen people, "O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in Me [is] thine help. I will be thy King. Where [is any other] that may save thee in all thy cities?" (Hosea 13:9-10)

You see, in spite of our Lord God's willingness to walk in the cool of the day with His chosen people, we read in the old covenant that His people rejected our Lord God and Saviour Jesus the Christ, preferring instead to crucify Him on a cross. Still, in spite of this cruel rejection, He who knew no sin willingly "gave Himself for our sins so that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father, to whom [be] glory for ever and ever." (Galatians 1:3-5)

And showing His abundance of love to us further, the Lord said He would give us the wisdom and knowledge we need to get through each and every day. Indeed, Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us. To this end, He gave us His Word so that when we don't understand what we are reading, He can reveal to us His understanding. (John 1:1-18)

Admittedly, unless we are familiar with the legalistic requirements of the old covenant, we struggle with the above scriptural passages that refer to sacrifices, new moons, the calling of assemblies and iniquity. But nevertheless, what we do understand in this current dispensation of grace is the Lord's question that transcends both the old and the new covenants. That is, "To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me?"

Paul took this thought one step further when he wrote: "Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live [of the things] of the temple? And they which wait at the alter are partakers with the alter? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. But I [Paul] have used none of these things, for [it were] better for me to die than that any man should make my glorifying void. For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel." (I Corinthians 9:13-16)

How humble we should be, for there really isn't anything in this world -- not our possessions, not our wealth, not our material abundance -- not any earthly thing that is worthy of proclaiming in glory. Nevertheless, our hope is not in this world, and neither of this world. Rather, our hearts and minds should be on spiritual matters -- Jesus and His kingdom.

"What is my reward then?" [Verily] that, when I preach the gospel I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. For though I be free from all [men], yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more ... and this I do for the gospel's sake that I might be partaker thereof with [you]." (I Corinthians 9:18-23)

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown' but we an uncorruptible." (I Corinthians 9:24-27)

Beholding As In A Glass the Glory of the Lord - Part 1059

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner [stone] -- in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord; in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:19-22)

As I stated in an earlier blog, we --as believers in Jesus Christ by faith -- need to stop believing man-made modern day religious statements of faith, and start diligently seeking Jesus through His Word. Letting Jesus be our teacher in all things spiritual -- in the same manner that "He through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen -- to whom also He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God." (Acts 1:25)

Studying to show ourselves -- each and every one of us approved, as a workman does. But too often, we expect that the great teachers of this day actually get the Word of God right. A good starting place for discernment can be the numerous requests for money, but sadly again, instead of calling these people out with the scriptures, we become cynical of religion. My message to you today is to tell you that there is a better way.

That is, to read and study the scriptures so that you can understand the truth of His Word. Take hold of the truth of Jesus -- making Jesus number one in your life, seeking Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, so that we can then serve as a flow through -- loving one another.

Jesus said, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

We have a mission. No, rather each and every one of us is given a ministry. Not man-made religion as the world would have you believe but as fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God -- built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets -- JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF being the chief corner stone. (Ephesians 2:19-22)

"Do we being again to commend ourselves? Or need we, as some [others] epistles of commendation to you, or [letters] of commendation from you?Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men [forasmuch as ye are ] manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone but in fleshy tables of the heart and such trust have we through Christ to God-ward ... not to think we are sufficient of our selves to think anything of our selves but our sufficiency [is] of God -- who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter but of the Spirit, for the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life.

But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stones was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance which [glory] was not to be done away -- how shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation [be] glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth -- for if that which is done away [was] glorious, much more that which remaineth [is] glorious.

Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech; and not as Moses [which] put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished, but their minds were blinded for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament -- but even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord." (II Corinthians 3:1-18)

How our world would change, when people begin to realize that believing in Jesus by faith is not a list of rules and regulations, or the ten commandments, or a reading of Moses but a life time experience whereby the vail is removed when we turn our hearts to Jesus. We are set free to stand fast in the liberty that is in Christ Jesus.

The other question to ask about religious statements of faith is this. How can a set of statements that is decades old even begin to define the fullness of joy that is found in His Word? Are we not actually limiting God when we tell the world "this is what we believe" in a number of bullet points?

Indeed, Jesus said that the volume of the Book was written about Him, and that if everything that could be wrote was to be written, the world could not contain all of the things He did for us.

Therefore, instead of trying to make God like humanity, perhaps, it is time to seek the One who created humanity in the beginning, and then loved us enough to shed His Holy blood on a cross for you and I -- "knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up [us] also by Jesus, and shall present [us] with you for all things [are] for your sakes, that the abundant grace might though the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God -- for our light affliction which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory." (II Corinthians 4:14-18)

Set your affection on things above and not on the things of the earth; "for ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God -- when Christ [who is our ] life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4)

Shine unto them that are lost. Preach not ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord. (II Corinthians 4:5) Stand in the offering plate.

Jesus Said, "Behold I Come Quickly And My Reward Is With Me - Part 1058

THE DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME. In reality, the Lord has already come. For Jesus said that He would not leave His followers comfortless. As the scriptures point out, Jesus said "I will come to you!" Further, the scriptures declare that all those who have by faith come to believe upon Jesus, are now a new creation of God. While admittedly, each believer may externally look the same as they did prior to their expressed faith in Jesus, on the inside they have been changed. Or as the scriptures refer to the salvation experience - believers have been reborn and their minds renewed. They were not strapped to an operating table whilst someone rearranged their inners. Oh no. The inward change that occurs is a direct result of the promise of Jesus - that He would not leave believers comfortless. He will come to you.

In that moment when people ask Jesus into their life, they are born again, or phrased another way, born of God. All of this internal change occurs in a moment of time. In fact, in a second of time even though in God's view, that is still too long. Indeed, the scriptures use the language "in the twinkling of an eye." The most important message for us is that heaven is just a prayer away. Similarly, we need to recognize that God has stated, that even before we call, He will answer. Nothing separates a believer from the love of God that can be found only in Jesus. Because the Spirit of God who fills the heavens and the earth is no longer on the outside. He is the same Spirit that was in the man Jesus. And it is the same Jesus who has taken up residence within the heart of believers.

Still, in terms of the original point of this post - the day of the Lord will come - there will be a second coming of God. In this context, and apart from a personal experience of rebirth, there is no redemption available to mankind in the second coming. The lyrics from the O'Jays song "Love Train" pretty well says it all. Please do not miss this train at the station, for if you miss it I will be sorry, yes, sorry for you. Don’t you know that it is time to get on board for this love train bearing the message of God is travelling on through. If you haven't reached out to Jesus, this would be the opportune time.

On a different note, there are those who repeatedly question why anyone should have the right to hear this message twice when some have never heard the gospel message once. There is a parable in the New Testament that refers to this. Recall the ten virgins, of whom five are categorized as being wise and the other five foolish. The latter group all slumbered and slept, having become recipients of mans' foolish wisdom, and having swallowed Satan’s bait, hook, line and sinker. Instead of preparing for the coming of their King, they believed that nothing had changed within the world. As a consequence, their collective belief in God had dissipated to the place that their lamps of belief had gone out. The parable speaks of a certain time when a voice was heard declaring, "Behold, the bridegroom is coming." The ten upon hearing this news arose and began to trim their lamps of belief. Unfortunately, the five foolish virgins recognised that they had no oil in their lamps (the oil symbolic of the Spirit of God).  They hastily went to purchase oil. Upon their return to where the five wise virgins had been they were confronted with the fact that indeed the bridegroom had returned and they had missed the train.

This parable leads us to the all important question. With which group do you want to be found among the ten when we hear the news, "Behold, the bridegroom comes ... go you forth to meet Him." Christ in you now bringing to believers the promised hope of the glory of eternal life. The message is simple. Only Jesus saves. He alone has the words of eternal life. Please do not miss this message of the all important second coming of the Lord Jesus the Christ. It's your call - accept His invitation. Come to the Lord Jesus today! Stand in the offering plate.

God Revealed Unto Us By His Spirit - Part 1057

"And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power; that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect; yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought, but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom] which God ordained before the world unto our glory; which none of the princes of this world knew; for had they known [it] they would not have crucified the Lord of glory ... but God hath revealed [them] unto us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." (I Corinthians 2:6-11)

I am saddened that in a world that clearly doesn't celebrate our Lord God and Saviour's mercy, many believers settle for a distorted religious church-anity that leaves the people within starving for manna from heaven. Where is the hope that Jesus gives? Where is the joy that Jesus instills in His people? And His wisdom -- not the wisdom of this world but the wisdom that God reveals unto us by His Spirit. His Holy presence in our life.

"Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the Word of His grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands." (Acts 14:3)

What has happened? What has changed that we would not seek our Lord God and Saviour with all our heart, soul, mind and strength?

In Acts 13, there is the example of apostle Paul and Barnabas who "waxed bold" and said, "It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you but seeing ye put it from you and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, "I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles that thous shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth." (Acts 13:46-47)

Note the Gentiles' response. "When they heard this, they were glad and glorified the Word of the Lord" and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. The Word of the Lord being the same God who in the beginning created man, forming us from the very dust of the earth.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God ... and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:1-14)

But the Jews then (and similarly what the modern day religious culture does now) stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts. For what? Preaching the good news gospel of Jesus Christ.

But did the disciples go away disheartened? Of course not, because these knew the Saviour Himself.

"And the disciples were filled with joy AND with the Holy Ghost." (Acts 13:52)

Get to know Jesus today. Seek diligently His wisdom, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the world unto glory -- hidden for those who seek Him. (I Corinthians 2:6-11) Speak boldly in the Lord, and give testimony unto the Word of His grace. Exhort others to continue in the faith, knowing "that we through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God." (Acts 14:22) Stand in the offering plate.
