It Was Christ Who Hath Redeemed Us From the Curse of the Law That We Might Receive The Promise of the Spirit Through Faith - Part 1527

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. And further, except a man be born again he cannot enter the kingdom of God. As the scriptures state, that which is flesh (Adam’s offspring) is flesh and that which is Spirit is Spirit. The offspring of JESUS the Christ is the promised SEED of the Holy Ghost.

Therefore, as the scriptures point out, do not be astonished when I say these things. For example, people's understanding of these things is likened to a wind which one sometimes hears and feels the breath thereof but cannot tell from where it came from or conversely, where it is going. In a similar fashion, a man’s life is likened to a vapour of smoke. It appears for a moment in time and then disappears.

So, in our case, we were born a blank slate. A white page with absolutely nothing on it  But as we venture through life, we accrue wisdom and knowledge and a taste for the things which are worldly. Yes, as we sojourn in this kernel of flesh -- which flesh is appointed to die, we are given a choice. We can either choose life, or choose death.

To be clear, the death sentence incurred upon all men came about a consequence of Adam's disobedience to the Lord in the Garden. This is why the scripture hath concluded all under sin -- so that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the Law, shut up unto the faith which should afterward be revealed ... wherefore, the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster, for ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus ... for as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Because we are now clothed in His righteousness, having taken on His Name in water baptism -- the precious Name of Jesus -- there is no longer Jew nor Greek, neither bond nor free, and neither male nor female.

Why? Because if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise -- for when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the Law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts.

This was Jesus' message to Nicodemus who was a master in Israel, However, even with all his instruction and knowledge, Jesus had to tell Nicodemus that he had no understanding of the things of God? Can you see the conversation? Jesus saying, "O, Nicodemus, if I talk to you about earthly subjects and you are without understanding, there is little to be accomplished if we begin discussing heavenly things."

When Jesus told Nicodemus that a man must be born again or he cannot see nor understand these things, what does Nicodemus say? "How can I being old enter a second time into my mother's womb to be born?" JESUS then responds by stating, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God."

You see, nothing will be hidden to those who love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. Jesus -- the Light of the world does not want us to be in the dark. He is the Bread of Life. He is the One who willingly laid down His life for us, even though He was without sin.

And because of His kindness and love, JESUS told Nicodemus (and us) that in order for us to enter into God’s Kingdom, we must be born again.

The difficulty herein is that the growth of one's soul is limited to that which was attained before the fall. We of ourselves are incapable of escaping out of the box of sin. Therefore, in order for man to see the kingdom of God which JESUS spoke of, man first needs to be redeemed from the curse of sin. Inasmuch as all men were under the same curse, redemption necessitated that another who knew no sin should be the means whereby man's redemption could be secured.

The perfect sacrifice.

This meant that God was the rightful owner of man, for man is the work of God’s hands. God declared man as being created sons of God. As a result of sin, man became fallen sons of God. It is also why God manifested (clothed or robed) Himself in flesh as a Son securing man's redemption as a gift of love, providing to all men without preferential treatment an equal opportunity to see and enter into the Kingdom.

To choose life, or choose death.

Further, this is why we must be born again of water and of Spirit. But admittedly, man by himself has no understanding as to how to achieve this new birth. However, after JESUS' death, burial and resurrection, JESUS opened the understanding of His disciples saying that the redemption of mankind had been purchased by the shedding of His holy Spirit blood availing to man the Kingdom of God.

This is why we are instructed to go and preach among all nations repentance and remission of sin. If men and women repent and are baptized into His death, burial, and resurrection, then as the scriptures state, "I will pour My Spirit upon them" and they will become My offspring -- My people -- My nation -- the Israel of God.

If the Lord has touched your heart, then repent, and then arise and be water baptized into JESUS' death, burial and resurrection. Become His redeemed son or daughter.. JESUS on our behalf gave His blood, water and Spirit life as a Son for us and when He did, He bequeathed it all to us! Think about the price that was paid, so that we would know that we are the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Great Is Thy Faith, Be It Unto Thee Even As Thou Wilt - Part 1526

As I glanced through the latest round of emails to cross my desk this morning, one message stood out. The writer spoke of the woman whose daughter had a demon, and had followed Jesus to the point whereby even His disciples had become weary of her cries. Here was a woman standing in the gap of life for her daughter, and she was not taking no for an answer. Matthew explains the context this way:

“Then Jesus went thence and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried unto Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, [Thou] Son of David! My daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and besought Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, "I am not sent but unto the sheep of the house of Israel."

Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not meet [good] to take the children's bread and cast [it] to dogs.” And she said, “Truth, Lord, yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it unto you even as thou wilt.” And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Matthew 15:21-28; Mark 7:31-37)

What struck me from the commentary is that Jesus – the Light of the world -- could not be hid. Herein, the disciples are tired of the scribes and Pharisees, and naysayers, who were determined in their hearts to trick Jesus, for these wanted Him dead. In fact, they had just asked Jesus why His disciples transgressed the tradition of the elders – and washed not their hands when they ate bread. I am sure, for the disciples, it was yet another “sigh” moment.

But even worse, Jesus, in responding to the scribes and Pharisees offended them, and the disciples told Him so, for I am sure by now, even they recognized the authority’s motives and that possibly, their own lives in danger as well. In so doing, the disciples might have hoped Jesus would tame His words and become more peaceable in His teachings. Water them down somewhat, as we hear often in our modern-day world.

What did Jesus say to offend? “Every plant which My Heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up. Let them alone; they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” (Matthew 15:13-14)

And, of course, Peter wants to know the meaning of this parable. But Jesus asks, “Are ye also yet without understanding?” There is more that goes into this conversation, but you see my point. It had already been a long day the disciples, and that was before this woman appeared on the scene, crying in anguish for her daughter to be healed.

As we learn from this example, the disciples of Jesus wanted Him to send the woman away. The woman’s pleading for her daughter’s restoration having become too much for them to bear. Yet, here she was, simply crying out for Jesus to do what she knew He could do in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. And her determination to not let go was wearing on the disciples.

What we also see here, is that the glory of Jesus cannot be hid from those who know in their hearts that Jesus is the promised Messiah. The prophesied Christ who would save His people from their sins. The Lord of glory coming forth as a mighty man to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead, and most of all, preach the good news gospel which sets us free from the yoke of bondage in this world. (Isaiah 42:13; Isaiah 9:6)

After His kindness and love, God became our Saviour. (Titus 3:4-7)

How do we know? Because even in this woman’s anguish, she called out to Jesus, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, [Thou] son of David.”

In her heart, she knew who Jesus was, and she wasn’t about to miss out on His promises – the blessings which He promised to those who desire to follow Him. Was this woman one of the multitude in attendance when Jesus had taken His disciples up into the mountain to teach them specifically, and the crowds gathered all around Him nevertheless. Was this woman one of those who were astonished at His doctrine, and could not let go of His promise to “Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you”? (Matthew 7:7)

I can only surmise, because the answer is not clearly given. What we do know is that upon the mountain, Jesus had said, “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, let they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” (Matthew 7:6)

It is this sprinkling of His Word – His doctrine of truth -- that could not stay dormant in this woman’s heart, even if Jesus’ words here were not first hand. Nevertheless, Jesus’ words offered a glimmer of hope for both her and her daughter. And, consequently, she was not prepared to let go and be trampled down by the powers that be any longer, and this included Jesus’ disciples. The words of Jesus had taken root in her heart, and the result, is that she desired more of Him.

Therefore, when Jesus said “It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs” she already had formulated a just answer in her heart. By faith, she knew that the Lord could heal her daughter. She also knew that even the measly crumbs from the Master’s table were sufficient to do so.

“Truth, Lord,” she said, “yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” (Matthew 15:27) Or, as Mark scribes her response -- “Yes, Lord; yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.” (Mark 7:27)

Indeed, this woman recognized Jesus to be the Bread of Life, and that even the crumbs from His table were far superior to having all the somethings that this world might offer. The Lord has a plan and purpose for our life and this woman was willing to do what it took to seek His blessing for her. It is no wonder the woman’s daughter was restored to wholeness. Jesus said, “O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.” (Matthew 15:28; Luke 7:9)

If only, we would desire even the crumbs from the Master’s table, how therein, our life would change. Stand in the offering plate.

But Now the Righteousness Of God Without the Law Is Manifested - Part 1525

"Now to Him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, but now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith. To God only wise, glory [be] through Jesus Christ forever." (Romans 16:25-27)

In the gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17)

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23; Galatians 3:22)

But now, in this current dispensation of grace, the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God [which is] by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.

And as a consequence of God's kindness and love -- in that He Himself would become our Saviour, we who believe can be " justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, [I say] at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, AND the Justifier of him which believes in Jesus." (Romans 3:24-26; Romans 9:30; Hebrews 9:12-15; Ephesians 2:8; Colossians 1:20; Acts 14:16; Acts 17:30)

Our salvation comes from our Lord God because He showed us mercy. (Romans 9:16) Not because of our good works, but because we responded to His invitation to follow Him.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, "Whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed." (Romans 10:9-11)

"For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

And thus, if our salvation is by grace, then it is no more of works; otherwise, grace is no more grace. But as Peter (standing with the eleven) proclaimed on the day of Pentecost, we need to repent, and be water baptized [buried] in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:36-47; I Peter 3:21-22)

We need to be clothed in the righteousness of our Lord Jesus. We need to put on His garment. Just like the Israelites put the blood on the doorposts, and then passed through the Red Sea, following that spiritual Rock that was Christ, we need to have the blood of Jesus applied to our hearts, and in water baptism take on His precious Name -- the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them; and that Rock was Christ." (I Corinthians 10:1-4)

We also need to get under the cloud and pass through the sea. Why? Because as Peter also declared, "This same Jesus whom ye have crucified is BOTH Lord and Christ." (Acts 2:36) He is the Lord of glory, the great I AM, the King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending. The Lord Himself coming forth as a mighty man. He prepared for Himself a body.

And like the many parables Jesus told (so that we would understand who He is) God came from that faraway place known as heaven to bring you and I into His fold. He is the Good Shepherd who left the 99 so that you -- the last one could be saved. After His kindness and love, God Himself became our Saviour. (Titus 3:4-7)

He paid the price on the cross once and for all so that we might be have abundant life in Him.

Yes, Jesus is the greatest love story ever told -- "Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us form this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father." (Galatians 1:4)

The Mystery That Was Held In The Bosom of the Father From the Very Beginning - Part 1524

Jesus said, "I and My Father are ONE!" (John 10:30)

JESUS is the everlasting Father! JESUS is also the well beloved Son! And yes JESUS is the blessed Holy Ghost which dwells within. (Acts 1:2-3) Indeed, salvation is found in the man JESUS, He being the [seed] child conceived of the Holy Ghost. JESUS, the [seed] child is God [Himself] manifesting Himself in flesh. It is in the same flesh that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily.

So while God rules and reigns, no man’s eyes have every seen God. In fact, creation declares openly the visible nature of the invisible creator. The visible things that were created displaying that the creator is Almighty. The unseen hidden Creator’s power and majesty being openly displayed by the things created.

Now the unseen creator God has chosen by His own counsel with Himself to manifest Himself, in form. The invisible becoming visible. The Creator God in form is the same God who has made all things. In fact, God stepped out of His Spirit world in form, prior to creation. Still, creation was the master plan of the mind of the Lord with God in spiritual form ruling and reigning over the very works of all of His creation.

The unseen spiritual form of God then was not created. For if the unseen spiritual form of God were a creation of God, as some folks like to insinuate, then the new form would be inferior to God. But with God there is no inferiority. Every thing that comes to pass is according to the plan originally constructed by God in the beginning.

Within this plan, man is an earthly creation fashioned after the similitude of the spiritual form of God. So wonderful was the creation that in the beginning, men were called the sons of God! Similarly, in the beginning, Adam and Eve enjoyed ongoing fellowship with their Creator. It is recorded in the scriptures that Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the evening.

There, God instructed Adam not to eat of the fruit from two trees. But God’s instructions fell upon deaf ears. Adam and Eve hearkened to the voice of another, called the devil, and in so doing Adam and Eve were put forth from Eden where the two entered into a untamed natural world.

Of course, Adam and Eve did not know that the voice they had listened to was the voice of an angelic spirit who had been cast out of heaven. Or that this angelic spirit opposed God, rebelling against God in the company of other rebellious angels. Together, they caused war in Heaven and as a consequence, God cast them out of Heaven. Now doomed to a destiny called Hell located somewhere in a place called outer darkness, the rebellious ringleader and fallen angel became known as the devil. The other rebellious angels became known as demons.

The point to remember then is that Adam and Eve were created as sons (and daughters)of God. And they are still by creation sons (and daughters) of God. Unfortunately, as we now recognize, fallen sons of God alienated from fellowship with God. Nevertheless, GOD loved His creation in the beginning and continues to love His creation today. None of these events came as a surprise to God for there is nothing hid from God. All things and events are naked and open before God’s eyes.

We further read that JESUS (His physical body as a man in the mind of God) was the beginning of the earthly creation of God. God knew that man would fall at some point and in so doing, man would be introduced into another more unnatural dimension. In this new world, man would become capable of choice. He would be given the possibility of choosing his own destiny.

But God did not abandon the human race. God in His Love, in His Grace and in His Mercy intervened. The Great Creator who made us also became man’s only means of salvation. In other words, God condescending took upon Himself a veil of flesh, conducting a life in the flesh which life would be the Life of God manifested.

The first man (Adam) sinned whereas the second Adam who is the Lord Himself veiled in sin prone flesh never succumbed to sin. Therefore, this man JESUS became the means whereby man can be saved. Call upon Him and in so doing men and women can be redeemed back into fellowship with God. Men and women and subsequently society can become all that God intended it to be. As it was prior to Adam and Eve hearkening to the voice of the usurper the devil. It is your choice! God in Christ laid down His sinless flesh for us! Come to Jesus today. Stand in the offering plate by offering yourself!

For the Son of Man Is Come To Save That Which Was Lost - Part 1523

"This day is salvation come to this house, [insomuch] as He also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luke 19:9-10; Galatians 3:7; Luke 13:16; Matthew 18:11; Matthew 1:21-23)

The scene opens with Jesus sitting upon the mount of Olives, over against the temple with some of His disciples. Peter, James, John and Andrew privately ask Jesus about the events that would take place in the last day. Toward the end of the conversation, Jesus repeats an analogy that He refers to various times before and after. That is,"[For the Son of man is] as a man taking a far journey, who left His house, and gave authority to His servants, and to every man His work, and commanded the porter* to watch. Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the Master of the house comes, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning ... lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping." (Mark 13:34-37) * (a porter can be equated to a doorkeeper)

In another place, Jesus likens the kingdom of heaven to a man travelling into a far country, calling the servants together, and delivering unto them His goods. And, in yet another scripture, a certain householder, or a certain nobleman who tells his servants to occupy therein till He returns.

"For [the kingdom of heaven is] as a man travelling into a far country, [who] called h/His servants, and delivered unto them h/His goods." (Matthew 25:14) Or, as a certain householder; which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country ..." (Matthew 21:33) "Or, like a certain nobleman that went into a far country to receive for h/Himself a kingdom, and h/He called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds and said unto them, "Occupy till I come." (Luke 19:12-27; Luke 20:9-19)

These references highlight some of the parables Jesus used to reveal His hidden identity, and the mystery that was hidden in the bosom of the Father from the very beginning. The mystery that is godliness -- God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16) The Lord God coming forth as a mighty man. (Isaiah 42:13; Isaiah 9:6) He Himself who knew no sin becoming sin for us. But I digress.

For this day, let's focus on the Son of man -- leaving His house [heaven] to take a faraway journey, fully knowing that He would be opposed by those citizens who would not have Him reign over them.

But h/His citizens hated h/Him and sent a message after h/Him, saying, "We will not have this [man] to reign over us." (Luke 19:27) Indeed, they reasoned among themselves, as Jesus relates in another parable, saying about the son -- "This is the heir; come, let us kill Him, that the inheritance may be ours." (Luke 20:9-19)

Interestingly, David puts Jesus' words into perspective, when the psalmist asked the Lord so many decades before, "What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man that Thou visits him? For Thou hast made Him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned Him with glory and honour. Thou made Him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all [things] under His feet; all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea [and whatsoever] passes through the paths of the sea. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent [is] Thy Name in all the earth." (Psalm 8:4-9; I Corinthians 15:27; Hebrews 2:6-8)

Thankfully, in this current dispensation of grace, we are no longer at a disadvantage, looking forward to the promised Christ/Messiah, as were the prophets from afore, inquiring and searching diligently, who could only prophesy of the grace that would come unto us. "Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow ..." (I Peter 1:10-11; II Peter 1:21)

Indeed, the living Word of God is readily available. And, as such, we can rightly divide the Word of truth, while searching to understand what Jesus meant when He referred to the Son of man in parables. (John 1:1-18; II Timothy 2:15) The only begotten. (John 3:16) We have ample opportunity to give diligence to His Word make our calling and election sure. (II Peter 1:10)

[As an aside, how sad it will be when this realization hits home -- how we fell short of His calling, and His willingness to reason with us daily through His Word, and yet, we chose to do other things! O, how the Lord must grieve!]

Still, herein, Jesus is attempting to reveal Himself to His disciples. "I and My Father are ONE!" (John 10:30) "If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him and have seen Him." (John 14:6-18) And to the others who were afar off -- "Ye neither know Me, nor My Father; if ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also." (John 8:19)

Who is the Son of man? This same Jesus whom ye have crucified is both Lord and Christ. (Acts 2:36) Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending. The King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 1:8, 11) "I am He that lives and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of hell and of death." (Revelation 1:18)

Jesus the promised Christ -- made of the seed of David according to the flesh. (Romans 1:3) The Word made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) "And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His Name is called -- The Word of God." (Revelation 19:13) "I am the Lord; that is My Name, and My glory will I not give to another ..." (Isaiah 42:8)

"... therefore, Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me ..." (Isaiah 63:5; Isaiah 41:28) " ... therefore, His arm brought salvation unto Him, and His righteousness, it sustained Him." (Isaiah 59:16) "And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see [it] together; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken [it]." (Isaiah 40:5)

As David again points out, "O, sing unto the Lord a new song. For He hath done marvelous things: His right hand, and His holy arm, hath gotten Him the victory. The Lord hath made known His salvation: His righteousness hath He openly showed in the sight of the heathen. He hath remembered His mercy and His truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God." (Psalm 98:1-3, 6; Isaiah 40:5, 10, 18, 25; Isaiah 52:10; Isaiah 53:1; Isaiah 59:16; Isaiah 62:2; Isaiah 63:5)

"And all flesh shall see the salvation of God." (Luke 3:6)

"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for He hath visited and redeemed His people and He hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David ...) (Luke 1:67-77) " ... through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the "dayspring" from on high hath visited us." (Luke 1:78) "for unto us is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour -- which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11)

"For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings ..." (Hebrews 2:10-11)

For this cause came He into the world, "that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears My voice." (John 18:37; Matthew 5:17; Matthew 20:28; Isaiah 55:4; John 10:27)

"Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28; John 13:34; Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 22:27; Isaiah 53:10-12; Romans 5:15, 19; Daniel 9:24, 26)

"Sacrifice and offering Thou would not, but a body hast Thou prepared Me; in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast had no pleasure. then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book, it is written of Me,) to do Thy will." (Hebrews 10:5-7; Psalm 40:6-8; The Word made flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:1-18)

And, as apostle Paul adds, "... which is His body, the fullness of Him that fills all in all." (Ephesians 1:22)

In this context, the Lord God prepared for Himself a body, so that He Himself who knew no sin could become the perfect sacrifice on a cross, and thus, as a consequence provide His free gift of salvation to you and I. (Philippians 2:4-11)

God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16)

After the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared. (Titus 3:4-7)

"For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men ... looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:11-14)

"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the "body" of Jesus Christ once for all." (Hebrews 10:10; John 17:19; Hebrews 9:2)

"After the second veil, which is called the Holiest of all ..." (Hebrews 9:2)

But while the first tabernacle was yet standing, "the Holy Ghost this signifying that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest ..." (Hebrews 9:8; John 14:6)

Only when He did come, as was foretold by the prophets of old, would He give authority to His servants to continue the work which He began while in the world -- to remain steadfast in the apostles' doctrine. (Acts 2:36-47)
Yes, "He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not." (John 1:10-11)

And then, to come full circle with Jesus' parables, we --on that blessed day, when the Lord finds His servants doing His work according to His will, then shall He say, "Blessed is that servant whom his Lord when He comes, shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that He will make him ruler over all that he hath ..." (Luke 12:42-46)

Then will the Lord say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:21)

Yes, even before the world was formed, the Lord was thinking of you and I, when He being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made "Himself" of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men ... and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross -- wherefore, God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name which is above every other name." (Philippians 2:4-11)

" .. and she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His Name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins ... God with us!" (Matthew 1:21-23)

This is why Jesus could say -- "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me." (John 14:6) Because Jesus was the Father who loved us enough to become our Saviour. It was He who left that faraway place so that He could redeem His beloved people.

If you haven't already, repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and be water baptized (and clothed) in the precious Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:36-47)

He Sent Out His Word, and Melted Them: He Caused His Wind To Blow, and The Waters To Flow. - Part 1522

"But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give [it] thee." Jesus saith unto her, "Thy brother shall rise again." Martha saith unto Him, "I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day." Jesus said unto her, "I Am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Believe thou this?"

Martha saith unto Him, "Yea, Lord: I believe that Thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, "The Master is come, and calls for thee." (John 11:22-28)

There is a message captured herein about the change that was occurring in Martha's heart. Here she was, grieving her brother Lazarus' death, focusing primarily on the worldly. In her despair, she (like her sister Mary) thought that had Jesus come earlier, their brother would have not died. But Jesus didn't come right away, as supposed, and as a consequence, Lazarus was soon dead and in the tomb. This is not to suggest that Martha did not believe what Jesus said. Indeed, it took some faith for Martha to tell Jesus that her brother would rise again in the resurrection at that last day, and that, "even now, whatsoever Thou [Jesus] wilt ask of God, God will give it to Thee." .

In response, however, Jesus does not just agree with her assessment of the situation. Rather, Jesus boldly proclaims to Martha, "Thy brother SHALL rise again." (John 11:23) But Martha knowing her brother is dead, acknowledges her earthly focus by saying to Jesus, "I know that [Lazarus] shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day." What does Jesus say? He said unto her, "I Am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Believe thou this?" (John 11:25-26)

Certainly, Jesus poses an interesting question to Martha. For if we do not believe that Jesus is He --  both the resurrection and the life -- the Way, the Truth, and the Life - the Bread of Life -- the King of kings and Lord of lords, Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending -- we will not have salvation, or inherit eternal life in Him. (John 8:24; Revelation 1:8, 11)

Honing back to Martha, we begin to see Martha's understanding of Jesus unfold."Yea, Lord, I believe that Thou art the Christ, the Son of God which should come into the world." (John 11:27)

Clearly, Martha believed that Thou -- Jesus -- art the Christ! The promised Messiah. The Christ which would save us from our sins, by becoming the "perfect sacrifice" on the cross. Martha understood that Jesus was the long awaited answer to all of her/our worldly problems. And, as we know from reading the rest of John's account, Jesus did bring Lazarus back to life, even after his dead body had been in the tomb for four days. From Martha's vantage point then, she had a glimpse of who Jesus was, (even secretly telling Mary -- "The Master is come!")

Nevertheless, while her heart may have been in the transition of changing, note that Jesus still had to say to Martha, "Said I not unto thee, that, if thou would believe, thou should see the glory of God?" (John 11:4, 40) And, that "this sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby." And, similarly, "Thy brother SHALL rise again." (John 11:23)

In fact, Jesus made no secret of what He intended to do. The miracle of Lazarus coming forth from the grave for the glory of God. Yet, Martha, like some others in attendance questioned why Jesus (which opened the eyes of the blind) had "caused that even this man [had] died?" (John 37; John 9:6-7)

[As an aside, it may be important to interject Luke's account of Jesus coming into a certain village and Martha receiving Him into her house. Mary was in attendance too and while she intently listened to Jesus, Martha cumbered about with much serving. At one point, Martha even comes to the Lord complaining that she had to serve alone. Jesus, responds by saying, "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things, but one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:38-42)]

Thankfully, as we know, Martha does become much stronger in her faith, after seeing Lazarus come forth from the grave. And she did, as do those who "know Thy Name" also put her trust in Thee: "for Thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee." (Psalms 9:10) But the belief that she originally knew in her head -- that is, the Master is come -- only reached her heart once Lazarus sat at the table with them. (John 12:1-2)

But note the transition. Note how Martha's heart had changed. While Martha still served, she did so this time with a new song in her heart.

Like the psalmist David proclaimed, "One [thing] have I desired of the Lord; that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple, for in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His pavilion ..." (Psalm 27:4; Luke 2:37)

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trust[s] in Him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise Him." (Psalm 28:7)
Martha understood what Jesus meant when He said, "He that believes on Me as the scripture hath said, out of his belly [his INNERMOST BEING] shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:38)

"Therefore, with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation." (Isaiah 12:3; Isaiah 43:20)

"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, and My blessings upon Thine offspring."  (Isaiah 44:3)

"Ho, every one that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money, come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price ..." (Isaiah 55:1)

Just like Martha experienced, Jesus prophetically promised that all who believe, and put their faith wholly upon Him would in turn receive of His Spirit too. (Mark 12:29-31; Deuteronomy 6:4) The Holy Ghost and Comforter within us, leading and guiding us into all truth. (John 14:6-31; John 15:26)

The Wisdom (or the Word) which was the predetermined counsel of God, was now manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Isaiah 42:13; Titus 3:4-7) It is this fleshly manifestation revealing God Himself as a Son -- this manifestation adequately displaying all the spiritual humanity dwelling within God Himself that makes the good news gospel message so empowering.

"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9; John 1:14; Titus 3:4-7)

"For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him and for Him: and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. And He is the Head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence ... for it pleased [the Father] that in Him should all fullness dwell." (Colossians 1:15-19)

The visible image of the unseen God. Having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him ... [that] you that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled, in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and un-blameable and un-reproveable in His sight -- if ye continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye have heard, and which was preached unto every creature which is under heaven." (Colossians 1:20-23)

Martha needed to understand that in the "much serving" of this world, she/we become cumbered and distracted. She/we become careful and troubled about many things that have nothing to do with salvation, or the saving of our souls. And, as a consequence of serving the earthly, our focus is less on this SAME JESUS who has the power to give us liberty -- if we would only stand fast and remain steadfast in Him. (Galatians 5:1)

Thankful, and rejoicing evermore for His goodness and grace and mercy.

"According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world ..." (Ephesians 1:4)

And If The Righteous Scarcely Be Saved, Where Shall The Ungodly And The Sinner Appear? - Part 1521

Peter, an apostles of Jesus Christ is writing to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia -- the elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. (I Peter 1:1-2)

Herein, Peter is rejoicing, acknowledging that because of the abundant mercy of God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, He has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you and I. And that, because of His abundant mercy, we are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation to be revealed in the last time. (I Peter 1:1-6)

Indeed, from the very beginning, the Lord has chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, where unto He called you by the gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (II Thessalonians 2:13)

"He hath chosen us in Him, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved." (Ephesians 1:4-6)

From the scriptures, we understand that Peter endured manifold temptations and thus, understood the heaviness that overshadows one in that moment of endless tribulation. But Peter also encourages us to know that in experiencing the trial of our faith, "being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen, ye love ... yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith -- the salvation of your souls. (I Peter 1:7-9)

The reason this is important is that the prophets of old could only e/inquire and search diligently for the grace that has come unto us in these last days. Even though the Spirit of Christ which was in them then did signify (when it testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ), and the glory that would follow; unto whom it was revealed, it did not reach unto themselves but unto us did they minister these things. (I Peter 1:11)

For you and I was the hope given, which is laid up for you and I in heaven, whereof ye heard in the Word of the truth of the gospel. (Colossians 1:5)

Why? Because the abundant grace and mercy that we behold in this day was intended specifically for us in this current dispensation of grace. Unto us did these prophets of old minister the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven. (I Peter 1:12)

But instead, as Peter points out in his second epistle, too many have moved away from their first love for the Lord, Even though the Lord, according as His divine power hath given unto us ALL things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue - and given unto us exceeding great and precious promises so that we can be partakers of the divine nature, we have fallen away.

Thus, if the righteous "scarcely" be saved, where shall the ungodly and sinners appear? A sad commentary when we who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith, are supposed to be as a city on a hill for those who are lost, shining brightly so that those who are without could find the same truth, and partake in the same inheritance as we. So, today, like Peter, I put you always in remembrance of these things (though ye know them already) so that you too will be continually established in the present truth. (II Peter 1:12)

Don't be misled by those who cunningly devise fables to lure you away from the truth. Rather, grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. And, in pressing forward, be that light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts. Stand in the offering plate.

If Ye Then Be Risen With Christ, Seek Those Things Which Are Above - Part 1520

"And the angel answered and said unto the women, "Fear not ye; for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. he is not here for He is risen; as He said, "Come, see the place where the Lord lay." And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead: and, behold, He goes before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo, I have told you." And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word." (Matthew 28:1-8)

After Jesus died and rose again, there was a period of time whereby Jesus appeared unto His disciples. (Acts 1:2-3) Not just the original twelve disciples but to other disciples who had decided to follow Jesus during His earthly ministry. Apostle Paul, who was last to see Jesus, as a disciple born out of due time, describes Jesus' appearance as the risen Christ to the faithful in this manner.

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according tot the scriptures, and that He was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve; after that, He was seen of above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep; after that He was seen of James, then of all the apostles, and last of all He was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time." (I Corinthians 15:1-8)

As we also understand from Matthew's account, Jesus met the women --- Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary -- saying, "All hail." Therein, the two came and held Him by the feet, and worshipped Him. Then said Jesus unto them, "Be not afraid: go tell My brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see Me." (Matthew 28:10; John 20:17)

But as we know from Mark's account, there were those who did not believe that Jesus was alive, or that He had been seen by Mary Magdalene first, (out of whom He had cast seven devils) and the other Mary. (Mark 16:11; Luke 24:13-35) Interestingly, Jesus appeared in "another form" unto two of those who did not believe as they walked into the country. The scripture notes: "And they went and told [it] unto the residue; neither believed they them." (Mark 16:13)

In this context, John describes another unbeliever as one of the disciples -- Thomas called Didymus, dubbed doubting Thomas by so many today. Just prior, John describes how Mary Magdalene is telling the disciples she has seen the Lord and that He had spoken these thing unto her. "Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren, and say unto them, "I ascend unto My Father, and your Father, and [to] My God, and your God." (John 20:17; Hebrews 4:14; Hebrews 2:11; John 16:28; Ephesians 1:17)

This same evening, being the first of the week, the disciples were assembled in a place with the doors shut, because these were afraid of the Jews. Jesus stands in the midst of them showing them the piercings both in His hands and His side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. He then said to them, "Peace [be] unto you, as [My] Father hath sent Me, even so send I you." (John 20:20-21)

Jesus then breathes on them, saying, "Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them, and whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained." (John 20:22-23; Matthew 16:19; Matthew 18:18)

But Thomas was not in the room when Jesus came. Of course the other disciples are telling Thomas that they have seen the Lord, and they are glad. But Thomas, unbelieving, responds by saying, "Except I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe." (John 20:24-25)

How many of us have been exactly where Thomas was? Here are the rest of the apostles [ten at least] saying that they have seen Jesus, but still don't believe. He is risen from the dead, but we need to see Jesus risen for ourselves. The presence of numerous witnesses standing in agreement, in one accord, and yet we still do not receive His Word gladly in our hearts. Because ... we need absolute proof.

Perhaps, for totality, we should be aware that just before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, Thomas had said unto his fellow disciples, "Let us also go that we may die with him." (John 11:16) A strange comment in light of the circumstance, and that Jesus was about to call Lazarus back to life from death but very telling of the state of Thomas' heart. He simply did not believe that Jesus was who He claimed to be.

Now, after Jesus' death on the cross, here is Thomas and he was not going to be swayed until he himself saw Jesus firsthand. Jesus must have known Thomas' stance because here was Jesus (eight days later) standing in a room with the disciples -- the doors again being deliberately shut to the outside world. In the midst is Jesus, who begins by saying, "Peace [be] unto you."

Then said Jesus to Thomas, "Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side, and be not faithless, but believing." (John 20:26-27; I John 1:1; Mark 16:14)

As Thomas thrust his hand in Jesus' side, I can only imagine what he was thinking. How his heart must have been jumping with excitement over seeing the Lord Jesus, but also knowing that He whom He touched was indeed the King of kings and Lord of lords. The Word of life. Here was Jesus standing before Thomas so that Thomas himself would come to understand, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Jesus was who He said He was.

What was Thomas' response?

" ... my Lord and my God!" (John 20:28)

Thomas now knew that the risen Christ which stood before Him was indeed God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16) The Lord having come forward as a mighty man. (Isaiah 42:13; Isaiah 9:6) And that after His kindness and love, God willingly became our Saviour on the cross. (Titus 3:4-7) Thomas may have even recognized what David the psalmist had previously wrote, "For dogs have compassed Me; the assembly of the wicked have i/enclosed Me; they pierced My hands and My feet. I may tell all My bones: they look and stare upon Me. They part My garments among them, and cast lots upon My vesture." (Psalm 22:16-18)

Somewhere along the way, Thomas may have heard the prophecy from Zechariah who wrote: "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplications; and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn." (Zechariah 12:10; Joel 2:28-29; John 19:34, 37; Revelation 1:7)

Or, maybe Thomas related to the Word of the Lord speaking through Zechariah: "And one shall say unto Him, "What are these wounds in Thine hands?" Then He shall answer, "Those with which I was wounded in the house of My friends." (Zechariah 13:6)

Regardless of how he got to this moment, we can rest assured that Thomas now understood that Jesus was indeed his Lord and his God. And as such, when we are risen with Christ, our hearts and minds turn, so that we desire to seek those things which are above. That we -- as believers in Jesus by faith -- can be confident that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, and that He can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; because He was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. This is why we boldly come unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)

That we can see Jesus, just like Thomas did, "who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings, for both He that sanctifies and they who are sanctified all of one; for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren." (Hebrews 2:1-18)

Thomas recognized Jesus as both his Lord and God. So how did Jesus respond?

"Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." (John 20:29; I Peter 1:8)

Even then, Jesus was thinking of you and I in the here and now so that we too might believe and have life through His Name. (John 20:31; Luke 1:4, 35; I John 5:1; Luke 2:11; John 3:15-16; John 5:24)

And just like the disciples, when Jesus appeared unto the eleven and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen Him after He was risen, we need to arise to the purpose that He placed in their heart.

Why? Because when we do, Jesus can also implant His very same purpose into our day to day. That is, that this same Jesus whom ye once crucified is both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36-47)

Before the Foundation of the World, God Prepared Himself a Body, So That We Might Have Life More Abundantly - Part 1519

JESUS is the promised SEED. As a consequence, there is salvation in no other. Indeed, as the scriptures point out, there is no other name under Heaven given among men whereby salvation is offered to all. (Act 4:12) Jesus is the One and Only King of kings and Lord of lords. He offered the perfect sacrifice -- at no cost or effort by man.

Instead, salvation is the gift of God. He extends His love to each and every one of us, so that we might know Him through His Name. The Name of Jesus. And because He did, we no longer have to work for our salvation.

In fact, if one had to work for salvation, the gift could no longer come as a gift. This is why the gift of salvation is unique. Certainly, there is no payment plan attached to the gift of salvation. For the gift of eternal life is offered freely to one and all. One does not need to have money to inherit eternal life, As Peter said to the man who needed healed -- "Silver or gold have I none but what I do have ..." -- the good news gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, I will gladly give to you.

This gift of salvation offered equally to every individual who turns their life over to Jesus was purchased by the sacrificial death of one man.. But this man, as we know from reading the scriptures, was no ordinary man although in appearance He had no remarkable features that would identify Him as one that would stand out in a crowd. We know this because when we shall see Him, the scriptures state that there is no beauty that we should desire him,

Still, the long awaited manifestation of the long awaited SEED - the SEED donor being none other than the holy Spirit of God who promised that He would become man’s Saviour - is the reason the gift of salvation exists. Thus, there was a necessity for the Word of God to be manifested in the flesh and that this flesh manifestation of God (as a Son) named JESUS, become a willing sacrifice securing an everlasting covenant. (Matthew 1:21-23)

For this Covenant was not a Covenant between two parties as was the old redundant Sinai covenant. Rather, this NEW Covenant being a Covenant was decided and predetermined of God before there ever was a visible world. A Covenant ordered of God as Spirit whereby God Himself as a Son (God is ONE), executed the unfolding of the covenant in the fashion now revealed of God through the sacrifice of Himself. Hence, GOD Himself brings forth the offer of free redemption from Adam’s fall - Adam being disobedient to God’s instructions in the Garden of Eden.

God manifest in the flesh. (I Timothy 3:16) God became our Saviour. (Titus 3:4-7)

Remember, it was by one man’s disobedience that sin entered into this world. Death ruled and reigned among us. God Himself had breathed life into man because at the same time God purposed to redeem man by Himself. The result? As the scriptures point out, any person believing upon the sacrificial death of God as a Son would inherit all things as a gifted inheritance.

Believe ye in Him -- behold, the Lamb of God.

Then, believers as redeemed people would become God’s adopted sons and daughters. Men and woman would now be redeemed by the shedding of God’s own holy Spirit blood. Believers would also - obediently - and according to the scriptures be baptized into His precious Name JESUS! Receiving the promise of God that He would now breath upon them the gift of His Spirit.

Infilled with the Holy Ghost, as the first 3,000 who gladly received His Word were on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:36-47)

These redeemed believers having been called by God would by the working of the Spirit of God be totally washed justified and sanctified eventually to be glorified. The end result being that redeemed believers or Christians (followers of Jesus) would be changed to be like Him. What do the scriptures say? For then we shall see Him as He is!

Stand in the offering plate with Jesus! He never fails.

Now Therefore Ye Are No More Strangers and Foreigners But Fellow Citizens In the Household of God - Part 1518

Every so often, I hear people say that they struggle or have difficulty with reading the Word. Some rationalize this by suggesting it must be the type of words some translations of the manuscripts cite. Others say that the difficulty is in understanding the context, and how we ourselves fit into the pages of His living document -- meant to be lived in a fashion, that we come to understand the Lord's purpose in our life.

Note that I am speaking about those hearts who are earnest for His knowledge, but haven't yet sought Jesus through His Word sufficiently to break through the enemy's barriers. I am not referring to the scribes and Pharisees, et al, that Jesus dealt with, and their hardened hearts. Also, I believe that too often we want to understand everything we read in the Bible (right then and there) without knowing the basic principles of the Lord., and from whence comes our salvation.

I often use the analogy of a child in school. We can't comprehend grade 12 algebra if we have not understood the very basic concepts of math from grade one. Our faith journey is similar. The Lord has built precept upon precept so that when we seek Him through His Word, He can reveal Himself to us. This is why our heart's desire is to set our sights on the heavenly, so that we can receive His wisdom and knowledge. "Give us this day our daily bread!"

Certainly, when we ask Jesus into our heart, and are subsequently water baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus, we enter into a new relationship with Him. (Acts 2:36-47) Just like meeting a new friend, or as some speak of peeling back an onion, Jesus gives us just enough to keep us coming back for more. Like a buffet table, He wants us to continually come and dine with Him, and taste and see that the Lord is good.

It is herein that we are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God. We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself becoming the chief corner [stone]; in whom all the building fitly framed together growing unto an holy temple in the Lord -- in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Through His Spirit -- the Holy Ghost. (Ephesians 2:18-22)

In other words, the Lord God prepared Himself a body so that He could become the perfect sacrifice on the cross. He shed His precious blood so that you and I might have life in Him -- a more abundant life. One whereby we can share the good news gospel of Jesus Christ to one and all, and to encourage others to see what is the fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 3:9) But I believe I may be digressing here.

Here are some scriptures that do not require a lot of understanding, but are capable of reaching into one's heart. Meditate and contemplate on these today, and then reason with the Lord Jesus to give you understanding.

"Jesus wept." (John 11:35)

"And when [Jesus] was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it." (Luke 19:41)

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me." (Mark 10:47)
And Peter [whom the Lord had said would deny Him three times] remembered the Word of Jesus, which said unto him, "Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice." And he went out, and wept bitterly. (Matthew 26:75)

And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the Word that Jesus said unto him, "Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny Me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept." (Mark 14:72)

"And Peter went out, and wept bitterly." (Luke 22:62)

Do you remember the woman in the city, who was a sinner? "When she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster box of ointment, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, ad did wipe them with the heads of her head, and kissed His feet and anointed them with the ointment. The Pharisee which had saw this, spake within himself, saying, "This man, if H/he* were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches H/him* for she is a sinner." [* the small h for the man's "if" thoughts -- not to take away from who Jesus was as the one and only He]

And Jesus answering said unto him, "Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee." And Simon said, "Master, say on." Jesus said, "There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell Me therefore, which of them will love Him most?"

Simon answered and said, "I suppose that He, to whom He forgave most." And He said unto him, "Thou hast rightly judged." And Jesus turned to the woman and said unto Simon, "See thou this woman? I entered into thine house. Thou gave Me no water for my feet: but she hath washed My feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gave Me no kiss, but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss My feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman has anointed My feet with ointment. Wherefore, I say unto thee, "Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much, but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."

And Jesus said unto her, "Thy sins are forgiven thee." (Luke 7:36-48)

We all come to His throne with years of baggage and dogma acquired in the world. However, Jesus sees our heart, and He will lead and guide us into all truth. He will guide our steps, and give us the instructions we need for that day, if we submit our worldly desires unto Him. No one said that the road would be easy, but we can know that He will provide us with the strength and wisdom to move forward.

One of my favorite scriptures, because of the song that became popular back in the day is from Psalms -- "By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion." (Psalms 137:1)

There is a humility of heart when we come to Jesus and recognize that He is both Lord and Christ. (Acts 2:36) The same Lord God who made man and woman in the beginning came forth as a mighty man so that we might have salvation. (Isaiah 42:13; Isaiah 9:6) "He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His own received Him not." (John 1:10-11)

We see the fruit of those who love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength throughout the new testament. For example, when Paul commended unto the people the Lord and the Word of His grace (which was able to build them up, and to give an inheritance among all them which are sanctified) -- when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down and prayed with them all, "and they all wept sore and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake ..." (Acts 20:32- 38)

This is not to suggest that there were not times when even Jesus had to ask His disciples, "Are ye also yet without understanding?" (Matthew 15:16)

The purpose is to seek Jesus and He will open the door to understanding. Therein, will we know "that a man is not justified by the works of the Law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the Law: for by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified." (Galatians 2:16)

Why is this important?

So "that the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." (II Thessalonians 1:12)
